At the Bar
"Aaiye sunte hain bin rap wala remix."
Jenila smiled and cranked up the volume to the song. Listening to the Desi radio station made her feel at home. It was rare for her radio to even catch signal for her shabby apartment, so she may as well enjoy it.
"Socha hai yeh ke" she sang out as she straighten her hair, "Tumhe rasta bhulaye." She got lucky at work today when one of her customers paid her a heavy tip. It had been a while since she went out plus she had enough to pay for her month's rent. In Jeni's mind she deserved a day off to party.
While she was singing, a picture on the corner of her mirror pulled her attention. It was a picture of her parents, who she hadn't skyped with in the longest time. She made a mental note to contact them soon before they contact the European police.
She took one last look at the mirror and grabbed her coat and purse and locked her humble abode. She was gonna party and enjoy herself because she deserved it.
After hailing a taxi and having a somewhat of an awkward conversation with the Taxi wala Uncle. Jeni finally made it to the club and was ready to party.
"Are you seriously ID-ing me?! Do you have any idea who the fuck I am?!" The blond haired whined. Jeni silently raised an eyebrow but patiently waited her turn to get pass security.
Just then a neatly dressed man come out the of club, "Rohan! Baby!" The girl shouted in her high pitch voice that almost made Jeni wince.
"She's with me." And just like that the security guard let the girl pass, who in return flipped off the security guard.
Jeni sighed. She absolutely hated it when people were rude to people who were just trying to do their job. She had many experiences with rude customers at the restaurant that she worked at. Finally when she was allowed into the club, she zeroed in on the bar section and started to make her way towards the bar.
The man that the girl called Rohan bumped into her, "Hey! Watch where you walking!" She immediately kneeled down to pick up her purse along with the contents that spilled on the floor.
The man spun around, "Excuse me?! You bumped into me." With that he continued walking towards the bar.
Jeni rolled her eyes. She didn't know why she bothered with drunk idiots.
She may have not been in complete control of her actions when she decided that it was time to hit the dance floor. It wasn't long until she caught the attention of most of the single guys in the dance floor. However there was a one man in particular that wouldn't let her leave his grip no matter how hard to she tried.
"Let me go!" Jeni push the man as she finally got fed up.
The man did a double take before grabbing her hand, "You came to have a good time, right? Well why don't you let me show you a good time."
"No effing way." Jeni said with disgust as she broke free from his grip once again. At this time their fight had caught the attention of the surrounding people.
"Umm yeah why don't you do what the girl asks." Jeni spun around only to come face to face with the man that she bumped earlier, Rohan. Except for the fact that his eyes were no longer red with sadness, they were red with anger.
"Ohhh yeah...What are you to her?"
"Oh you don't wanna know." The man that bumped into Jeni earlier winked towards her.
Jeni looked on confused. How did she get from dancng to two men about to fight each other?
The man glanced at Jeni once again before raising his hands as if his was surrounding but then with a blink of an eye, and then the man spun at Rohan, leaving a bruise on his face.
Rohan staggered before dodging the man's next punch.
Jeni watched in shock. This was the first time that she was people fighting over her. She didn't whether to be honored or terrified.
Either way the fight got the attention of the security who quickly tore both them apart.
"Hey man!" The guard pushing Rohan to against the wall.
Jeni quickly rushed to Rohan's side, "I'm taking my boyfriend home." She said without thinking not allowing for the security guard to protest. Jeni only prayed that Rohan would keep his mouth shut.
"Hey look I'm super sorry about what I said over there. I didn't really have time to explain what happened. Umm I'm gonna take you to my place to fix your bruise." The guy only nodded as he continued to be dragged by Jeni.
I should be taking him to a hospital. What the fuck am I doing taking him home?! By then again the closest hospital is pretty far and I have a first aid kit at home...
Once the taxi arrive the man, Rohan, took out his wallet to which Jeni protested against. However, Rohan won the fight after throwing his cash at the driver and hopped out of the cab.
"Umm I'm Jenila but everyone calls me Jeni." She quickly offered a handshake, "Thank you for what you did back there and I'm sorry for earlier." She added.
Rohan raised an eyebrow but shook her hand nevertheless not wanting to come out as rude as he was earlier.
"Thanks for the umm ice pack." He said placing the bag of frozen vegetables down, "And saving me. I'm Rohan by the way. "
"Nice to meet you officially Mr. Rohan."
"Likewise Ms. Jeni."
