Another chapter for you loves! I did some changes to the cast if you want to check that out, Dont forget to check out my other book too "The Masters will"
**
"Ring, Ring, Ring, Ring, Ring, Ring!!"
I groaned as I simultaneously turned to my left and put a pillow over my head, but the stupid alarm was still ringing non-stop, as if telling me that it wouldn't let me be until I really got up. Finally I got up and looked at it. 5:00am
And you are ringing as if it's 7:30.
Who asked me to even set it for this early?
I lay back on my bed, groaning over and over again. "I don't want to go to school, I really don't want to go to school" I chanted
School mornings are just the worst!!
I got up feeling light-headed and sleepily walked to the kitchen to get a glass of water, tripping over nothing for like five times. I sighed as I showered and then did my edges and wore my uniform.
A white shirt, black and grey stripped tie, and grey skirt and a black blazer.
I attended Hodder High, one of the top five schools in Lagos, It had about a hundred students, which might be considered small, but it was all because of the very expensive school fees and competitive nature. You couldn't get in if you didn't get at least seventy-five percent in the common entrance exam.
"Sweetie?" Mum's smallish voice came through the door.
"Yes mum?" I asked switching off my phone.
"Are you awake?"
I rolled my eyes knowing she won't see me, temped to say 'duh! Is it my spirit that is talking? Abeg' but instead I replied her with a brief yes, and got up from the bed.
I opened the door and met her gaze, she sure looked surprised to see me dressed. Like who wouldn't? The earliest I've gotten up in the past was like six forty when school starts by 7:30, but today I decided to break the record.
"I'm surprised you're early today. We want to pray. Come and join us."
I frowned and shut the door before locking it. Pray my foot. "Yemisi! Yemisi!!" Mum pounded the door as she shouted my name, I merely rolled my eyes and hissed concurrently.
"Yemisi!" She continued calling.
"If you like break the door. you have money, you'll fix it. I'm not coming out." I sighed. I plopped back down on the bed and picked up my phone and earpiece.
She groaned and yelled angrily, her voice wavering slightly. "No breakfast for you!!! Maybe the hunger will knock some sense into you." She shouted
The next thing I heard was her footsteps. She was walking away. I groaned and fell from the bed onto the soft grey carpet intentionally. Why was I rude? A simple 'no I don't want pray' would have sufficed, but no, me being myself must be rude and I was even hungry.
I checked my phone for the time six forty-two. I got up and packed my bag, before getting two thousand naira note from my 'money drawer' as I like to call it
and then I walked out.
________________
It was already past seven when I got to school. I got down from the car and lazily signed in, allowing the security woman to search for any device that wasn't the school's given tablet. Sim cards weren't allowed in the tablets, and apps that didn't have to do with education, but the apps, music, videos aspect was just ignored by us students.
Some of us even got sim cards to school so...
And in my own opinion, there was actually no point. I seriously don't get why the school thinks we'd all come off clean and not download stuff on our tabs especially when there's free WI-Fi literally everywhere in school and home. I rolled my eyes at the thought.
"Oya Yemisi go nau?" She said to me, her teeth, which unfortunately had some gaps in between and reminded me of the cartoon network logo, flashed at me. "I know" I deadpanned, picking up my bag.
Who would want to stay with you?
I got to the class and brought out wipes from my back pack, then wiped my chair and table before settling down on it. You never know what is on your chair or desk. I got my ipad from my bag and began to watch some YouTube videos.
My iPad was snatched from me and I looked up ready to lash out at the person but saw my best friend.
The one and only Yimika who must always get to announce her presence. I merely rolled my eyes and hissed while she beamed as if she won a lottery "Guy my iPad" I said.
She shook her head and smirked. What's doing this one now? "I'm not joking."
"And I'm not laughing" she said. And I hissed.
"Haha. Is that meant to be a joke?" I asked sarcastically. She glared at me and I smirked. "You aren't good at dry jokes okay? Not as good as I am."
"Mstchew." She hissed "take your iPad. Before you start crying now." She said and walked away. I laughed. "Yimika Owolabi"
Assembly was as boring as ever, and the weather was even hot. I had to keep fanning myself with my hands. But this wicked people wanted us to suffer in heat, taking extra time.
I couldn't have been more thankful when we got to the class and the cool air from the air conditioner slammed into my body.
Everyone began to make noise. Some insulting themselves, some jisting, some laughing, catching up with themselves to know what they'd been up to during the holiday "The counselor is coming" a girl named Gladys hissed. "Y'all should shut up" they all did and I quickly kept my iPad away.
The school's counselor was a tall and dark woman, with a huge nose and small eyes, let's not forget, her over-extended forehead. She always wore a scowl, hardly ever smiled, making it very difficult to approach her. But Mrs. Victoria was actually really nice in person. She had a 'I will play with you if need be, but that doesn't mean you can do trash and get away with it' aura. She was one of the few people students actually respected, and that included me.
"Good morning SS2's how are you?" She said. I didn't reply. My eyes were focused on the guy besides her. He face seemed familiar, I just couldn't place my finger on where exactly I'd seen him.
"This is Daniel Johnson. He's a new student. Please everyone should create a friendly atmosphere for him, and help him fit in."
"Of course" I muttered sarcastically under my breath but unfortunately, she caught the words.
"Yemisi do you have any problem?" she said pointedly with a tone that almost made me shrink back. Everyone turned to look at me, including the boy behind her. "not exactly" I said. she nodded dismissively and then continued talking.
"he's a student like you, so give him a chance. I take my leave now. Oh and Daniel? You're to sit behind Yemisi." She pointed at me and I groaned. Universe why me?!
The boy nodded and walked to the desk behind me. Once he settled down he turned to me. "Hey... Have we met before?" He asked looking at me in the eye.
I immediately recognized him.
He was the guy I bumped into at KFC.
I may or may not be messed up.
