8. lucky accident

Her orange straight hair was soaked as she waved towards the audience getting applauses and cheers in return. She dived back for the last performance despite of feeling exhausted.

The bright lights, the luminous water and the nonstop cheers.
It was all too familiar to her.
She didn't hate it, but she didn't liked it either.

She blew three ring bubbles and swam through them.

Was this her life now? How long will the Cordelia survive? Was she going to do this forever and ever?

She started to swim at a faster pace, readying herself for the final jump. The fishes swimming with her as a part of the routine.

Will she ever catch a break from the hectic, nonstop life? Was working since the a young age worth it? When will It stop?

Misty closed her eyes as she sense the surface getting closer. The audience pulling out their phones for the last graceful jump.

Was I made to work forever and ever and ever and ever and ever and ever—

"MISTY! Watch out!"

She heard a muffled sound from the top, she opened her eyes a little too late  because the next thing everyone saw was a mermaid headbutting a chubby fish.

The crowd gasped.

That's it.

The children and some boys started to laugh while others spilled words of empathy.

I'm done

"Oh my god, can you stop being a drama baby"

"I AM N—"

"Boop" violet booped a red-head (literally) Misty.

"Please don't make her angrier than she already is" said Daisy faceplaming

The three sisters sat back stage, on the same velvet couch, with bandages and sanitary liquids.
Misty had a red bump on her forehead due to the hard collision with the fish, no the fish was fine but she wasn't.

"Rest for a few days if you want, like it'll cool off your temper too" suggested Daisy.

"Yea and that nasty bump as well" Violet added.

"I wanna quit for good Daisy, i can't do this anymore. What happened today wasn't much of a deal but I think it's my time to just, I don't know..do what I want now?"

" What do you wanna do? Besides this what is there to do?" Daisy raised an eyebrow and sat on the spair seat.

Misty pulled her knees to her chest and hung her head low, her hair tillting.
" I never really knew, never got time to explore my options.."

Daisy and violet exchanged looks.
"Tell you what" Violet stood up from the couch " you should move out."

"Wait, did she really say that?"

"Hard to believe right?" Misty giggled while jogging with Leaf beside her.

"So like, are you?" Leaf asked jogging a bit faster than her, she was a local teacher in the area, if anyone knew anything about moving Leaf was the best person to ask. Growing up she moved a lot from country to country.

" I haven't really thought about like, moving...but we'll see. Uncertain at the time, telling a person this who has spent her 8-9 years doing the same thing is one thing. "

"Damn, 9 years eh?"

"Yep, 9 damn years" Misty sighed at the thought, she was forced into being a workaholic. She didn't choose this life, her parents did as soon as they left. Her sisters made her believe that their only hope is she,  a 16 year old girl. They were wrong for that but that's in the past now, besides she saw them struggle on a regular basis as well. Nothing new in the life of Misty Williams.

The wind shifted to a salty breeze.

"Oh look" Leaf stopped so did Misty, they were at the same beach.

"What, wanna take a dip?" Asked Misty.

"Think out of the blue" Leaf made a weird face while Misty looked disgusted.

"Wanna go in there" Leaf pointed at the very familiar coffee shop.

" Oh yeah sure " They both started heading in that direction.
It was early evening and the twilight introduced itself to the sky. Fat Seagulls were screeching and the wind was cold.
Winter would roll in sooner this year.

"By the way" said Misty while Leaf  questioned with her eyebrows towards the redhead.

"So, I met this boy."

Look who decided to update.
