Chapter Four

Two weeks have passed and we are back to work from the Christmas and New Year holidays.

We started to get ourselves busy because of next month's event.

Our Silver Anniversary.

What got me curious was there was a photographer taking snapshots of everybody.

"Oh, what are those pictures for?" I asked in curiosity.

"Miss Serena said it's for the documentation of before and after printing of the magazine." The photographer replied with a smile.
"I'm sorry. Did I make you uncomfortable?"

I shook my head immediately.
"Uh, no. I was just curious. But, anyway, you may do as you please." I said and he nodded.

I turned to my tasks and occasionally addressed one inquiry to another.

For the whole two weeks, this has been our routine.

Photoshoots per department.

Photoshoots before the event, stolen or not.

Photoshoots while printing.

I almost swore the photographer off when I noticed him following me until the restroom.

Fortunately, he didn't go that far or else, I will reprimand him and talk to Serena.

I sighed when we are almost finished with everything.

From my usual two coffee breaks (morning and afternoon) in the office, it went down to one this time.

We were so busy and were all over the place!

I tilted my neck and stretched my arms as soon as I entered the pantry.

Most of my officemates even Lui and Rem went home already.

It was only me inside the office.

I still have to proofread everything before I can take a day off.

This is the moment when I will praise the CEO of the company.

He or she was considerate enough to place a cozy couch inside this pantry.

For someone like me who frequents this place, I barely use this couch.

I usually lean on my back to the sink for a few moments because I have been sitting for too long the whole day.

I also informed my parents that we will be camping out this week in the office since the event is in two days.

I yawned and groaned when my stomach complained.

I glanced at the clock and saw that it was already seven o'clock in the evening.

Dinner time.

I turned off the light switch and thought of sleeping in my hunger.

I groaned again when my stomach growled in response and rolled to my side in a fetal position.

I was too tired to get up and deliver some food.

I was too exhausted to even lift my phone.

I was starting to fall into deep slumber when I felt that there was someone with me.

I did not bother to open an eye but I knew that the light was turned on.

"Sit up. Don't sleep on an empty stomach." I heard someone ordered from the side.

I ignored him and snuggled deep in my position.

"Don't wait for me to wake you up,  Buenavista. The food is waiting." The man's voice sounded stern than before so I opened one eye and saw that it was Leonard.

I sat up with eyes still closed.

"You don't look cute so eat up. " Leonard said and I sighed.

On the table are the foods I have craved earlier this morning!

Nachos, lasagna, large coke float, potato corner barbecue and sour cream fries and spicy chicken.

There's two of everything!

My eyes widened and I looked at him.

He was already munching on his lasagna and occasionally biting on some fries.

"Are these for real? Did Serena gave us this much budget for an all-nighter?" I asked incredulously and took couple of fries. "Ah! This is heaven!"

"Have some lasagna and chicken first before indulging yourself with fries and nachos." He advised while he was sipping on his coke float.

I did as to what I was told.

Soon, we were enjoying this sumptuous feast in front of us.

We were the only ones left because the team agreed to launch this month's issue on our website at the same time with the anniversary day.

The simultaneous broadcast on the internet was just one of the many tricks on our chief editor's sleeves.

We ate silently but was cut short when Leonard spoke.

"Funny, I finally saw you without a coffee mug in your hands." Leonard commented and I met his gaze.

Is it just me in my exhausted state or Leonard suddenly look so attractive under this light in this angle?

I shook my head and his forehead creased in amusement.

"Ha-ha. Is that supposed to be a joke? Pretty lame." I commented and rolled my eyes. "I'm not that obsessed with coffee that every minute I am craving for it. I just have it only on my bad and good days."

"Really? I thought you were." Leonard commented and I shot him a glare.

I got a couple of fries and chomped on it.

"So, were you and Rem an item?" Leonard asked suddenly which caught me off-guard.

I choked on my fries.

Leonard handed me my drink immediately and stood up to pat my back.

"Hey! Are you alright?" He asked in worry.

"I-I'm fine! Geez!" I said and coughed for a while before clearing my throat. "You really thought we are in a relationship?" I asked in amazement and laughed at him when he nodded, his ears turning pink.

Such a cutie.

"Of course not!" I continued laughing because someone finally dared to ask me about my best bud. "It just so happened that we both got hired on the same day and became friends instantly that people here started to match us up. But, we never thought of being in a relationship! Hell, no!"

I was still laughing and wiping my tears when my eyes got something and I blinked to remove those dirt or whatever.

"Aww. Wait. Something caught my eye." I said, blinking and wiping it with my bare hands.

"Stupid girl. Don't rub them. You got some powder on your hands. You'll just irritate them more!" Leonard remarked and leaned towards me.

Leonard blew on it and I blinked again.

I saw how his lips puckered up and his eyes squinted in concern.

"Alright. It's done. I'm fine. T-thanks." I stammered and leaned my back on the couch, our eyes not breaking its contact.

Leonard looked like he was in trance.

"Uh, yes. I-I'll just clean this up. " He said stuttering and started cleaning our emptied food packs.

I helped him even if he hesitated.

Shortly after, the table was cleaned and we were staring at each other in an awkward atmosphere.

"Uh, good night. I'll be heading home. Will you be fine here?" Leonard asked as he stood in front of the pantry's door.

I nodded and gave him a small smile.

"Yes. I already told my parents that I'll be camping out this week until the event. Thanks for the foods." I said sincerely and grinned at him.

"Okay. Uh, bye." Leonard said and gave a small wave before he went out.

Weird.

He's actually nice, after all.

And, attractive.

Wait, what?
