The Fairy Legacy is at 25K reads!

Oh my holy butterbread: The Fairy Legacy has 25K reads! Thank you so, so much for this milestone! I never thought this day would come back when I was obsessing about reads and Wattpad success, but here we are now! I've still got a long way to go, but I'm happy with this milestone and this point of "success" in my stay on the platform.

And to celebrate this incredible milestone, let's delve straight into story-time. Cough I'm a writer, so deal with it. xD

I don't think I've ever told anyone the full story of how this massive universe of stories came to be, so now that we've come some ways, why not take the chance?

It all started on a dreary weekday, and little Cae thought to themself, what if I were to write a book and get published? That'd be cool. Granted, I've just finished reading Rick Riordan's The Red Pyramid as my first novel after the best friend of my friend shifted schools and loaned us novels from her school's library. I read that thick thing in a week, and I was soooo painfully slow, but it inspired me nonetheless. I wanted to write a book, so 13-year old Cae gathered a battered notebook sewn from recycled sheets from the previous school years. I was excited. I can finally use this garbage.

And that's where everything started. I figured I wanted a chosen-one kind of thing, a powerful girl who is thrust into a world of magic and such. Then, I watched No Game, No Life.

It's...a questionable anime about game theory and, um, a couple of other things, and it piqued my interest because I want to fit in with my highschool friends. But the anime's worldbuilding caught my attention. It features multiple mythological beasts that have been turned into races, and each of them have countries to rule. The human MCs now have to visit them all to defeat them in some kind of ranking game thing.

So, little Cae thought: what if there is a series about a single race, and after that, they'd go to other continents to deal with the other races?

And that, my friends, is the start of my tribulation.

See, to write that idea, I need to have written the preceding series first. As you can see, I am obsessed with matching covers, overarching plots, and multiple books before I even punched a key in the keyboard. Some villains have colorful backstories to fuel motivation. Looks like I was just kinda born with it. 😅

The problem? Little Cae doesn't know how to write a book, much less an entire series.

So, what happens? Oh, you know it.

Pantsing!

On Wattpad!

And thus, The Fairy Tale Conflicts was born. I told a bunch of interviews across different profiles on the platform of how Wattpad was a fad among my peers way back 2014, so I immediately saw it as a way to write and get famous. (Spoiler: I never did get famous, well, at least, not yet. lol.) Assembling a group of friends who cared enough to read my creations, I hammered away at The Fairy Tale Conflicts, the first novel I ever posted online that resembled a novel.

I continued on it, updating whenever I can amidst demanding school work and being the batch's top student. And welp, I finished it just as my sophomore year in highschool is ending, around 2016. It took me 2+ years with me taking a break from Wattpad and writing for the last two years. I finished the damn novel, but the friends moved on to other fads and had no time for Wattpad anymore. But I kept at it, all for that one friend who stayed. Lo and behold, I managed to cough out two more books connected to it, which are both prequels to The Fairy Tale Conflicts. My summer vacation going into junior year went by like that.

Those unspeakable works are therefore titled Beginnings and Endings and The Fairy Tale Conflicts: Diaries. Beginnings and Endings talked about the beginning of the world, how some people were transported to this magical world made of children's dreams and made their mark on it. Immediately, it translated into a Game-of-Thrones-esque narrative in a period of time called The Ten Kingdom War. And for Diaries, I just made up a bunch of character backstory that explained their behavior in The Fairy Tale Conflicts.

I was halfway into writing Diaries when proto-Cae thought: you know what? This whole thing sucks. I suck.

And I listed everything that was wrong with it. I even made a personal note to myself about it! But I worked so hard for this idea and this world. I can't just give up on it. What about the four notebooks of worldbuilding and character sheets I consumed for it?

2017 comes with a bang. I still remember that day in March when I thought to myself, I'm still gonna be a writer, get published, and be famous. I shouldn't give up on this disaster novel! And that's the time when these three mega books (totalling 300K words!) became what is known as the COF Prototype. And yes, if you read those garbage fire circuses, you'll see parallels of what is now known as The Chronicles of Fantasilia.

For instance, I didn't change the name of the main character. Xanthiene Vivenca is an OG name, along with Nyxis. Some characters also got molded into a different one altogether, but their features and choice traits stayed. Examples are Rutoria, the Fae Queen, and Elred. They all have counterparts in the prototype, but their characters are utilized and fleshed out more.

And then comes the grueling part of it all: worldbuilding. When I was still figuring out my process, I wrote everything by hand, and upon trawling Google on how to build cities, magic systems, characters, and worlds, I have myself an additional 3 notebooks full of nothing but geographical details, cultural customs, and character notes. This, people, is the basis of my worldbuilding process, seven years later. And believe it or not, my basis for worldbuilding is the Tinker Bell film franchise which my little sis binged-watched multiple times growing up. See the parallels?

Yeah.

Moving on, I am now ready to plot the first-ever book which I decided to title The Fairy Legacy. Do I know what it's about? Nope! I just thought the title seemed cool. Now, I just have to figure out what the heck is a legacy and what a fairy has to do with it. And I found a website that highlights the Snowflake Method in plotting stories, so that's what I followed.

And I was ready to write. I toiled on the novel for a month or two until I was ready to publish it to Wattpad. I hit the Publish button, and boom! I have one read, which is from me when I published my story. But I kept on. I finished the first draft, and then thought, hmmm, that ending doesn't make sense. So, I rehauled the ending. That's draft two.

Eventually, I finished highschool and earned myself four months of vacation as the calendars shifted to keep up with the global standards on my way to college. I speed-ran the next two books, which I called The Soul Spells and The Fallen Dynasty. Did I know what's going to happen? Nope! Again, I just thought the titles were cool and ran along with it.

College happened, and I took a science-intensive degree, so there goes my writing time. During my freshman year, I only managed to start half of book four, The Abject Throne, and I thought to myself: dang, this thing has to end by the sixth book, and I'm nowhere near planning how the fuck I'm supposed to end this.

And off I go. I planned the rest of the series in yet another notebook, and along the way, I kept adding worldbuilding details just to serve the plot that I was just like....wait, what the hell is going on? This isn't foreshadowed in the first three books! Oh, dear Lord, they're gonna think these are two different series!

My friends, that is how I entered into a worldbuilding dilemma which involved rehashing my worldbuilding for the third time and eventually sticking with what we have now. And after 2017 and a few more odd years, do you know what's next?

2020. Oh, the pandemic brought me a ton of writing time. Having met friends on the forum side of Wattpad, and eventually, Discord, I am now more connected to the writing world. I also became an ambassador sometime in 2019, but that's not important. Lol.

And during the months when the world stood still, I completed books 4 and 5, which are titled The Abject Throne and The Secret Race, respectively. And finally, during the time when online classes were a thing, I've just enough time to finish the sixth book, The Last Oracle.

It should be The End, right? Right???

No.

Upon completing the sixth book, I can't sit still because my writing skill has improved over the last three years, and it's a dramatic improvement, meaning The Fairy Legacy isn't as good as The Last Oracle is, and for readers to get to the last book, they have to slog through the first one. That simply can't be. It's not like I don't have problems with TFL. Something about the characters and plot just seems so.....bland.

So, it's time to rehash the worldbuilding a fourth time, and this time, I turned it into something shinier: digital files. Gone are the notebooks and hand-written notes. I am sophisticated now. *throws hair back*

After that, I went into the grueling act of editing. That's how 2021 went. I did nothing but bring books 1-4 to my writing level in Book 5 and 6, as well as fix some scenes, typos, and other cringe stuff in between.

And now, that's the version you have in your hands. Granted, it still had some cringe moments and questionable grammar and technical errors, but that's a remnant of my 2021 writing. My 2023 to present writing style is much, much more polished with far more nuanced characters, plots, and shinier covers!

Still here? I applaud you for that! Over the years, The Chronicles of Fantasilia has underwent multiple transformations and improvements, but one thing didn't change: It's still a big world, and because of that, of course, there will also be multiple works and series involved.

As such, The Chronicles of Fantasilia is now called the Main Series, and it follows the story of Xanthy, a girl from the poor districts finding out her true identity and what role she plays in the war that's been a long time coming.

And because I'm extra, there are two novella series intertwined with the Main Series. The Memoirs of Mayhem is a collection of standalone novellas featuring characters from the Main Series. These novellas tell the characters' backstories before the Main Series took place.

Up next is The Unseen Wars, which are stories that are supposed to be intertwined heavily in the events of the Main Series, but if I included them, they would take the focus off Xanthy and the main plot, so they had to become another series. Think of it as Story Branches, but made from the resources Wattpad has allowed me to access as a plebeian writer. xD

Yes, it also means that writing these two series means I rehauled worldbuilding a fifth time, and that is how we ended up with a fully-fleshed out Umazure, the island of the Fairies.

AND HERE COMES THE EXCITING PART!

You thought this part was a waste of your time? Fear not! You did not read up to this part for nothing! That's right. In celebration of The Fairy Legacy reaching 25K reads, all these worldbuilding details will now be included in the story chapters as Fun Facts. Think of them as fun epilogues to every episode when you watch an anime or a TV Show.

And that's not all! Perks of getting a full-time day job is that I have the budget to commission cute renditions of our all-time favorite characters: Xanthy, June, Reeca, and Nyxis! They are done by the wonderful jnignacio, so give him a round of applause. He also did the shiny 5th Anniversary covers which have now been the official covers of the series.

So, whatever your status is with this series, I challenge you to find all of the cute illustrations and learn more about the magical world of Fantasilia!

Here's a cute banner featuring the main characters in their celebratory mode! This will also be my profile banner for as long as the 25K celebration is underway.

So, we're done with the past and the present. Now, let's go to the future. What else is in store in The Chronicles of Fantasilia? Well, a lot!

1️⃣I'll take this chance to announce that from now on, any works happening inside the world of Fantasilia will therefore be known as The Fantasilia Literary Universe. It's not really new, and if you're paying attention to my blurb, you'd know. 😅 TFLU involves series like The Chronicles of Fantasilia Main Series, The Memoirs of Mayhem, and The Unseen Wars.

2️⃣The story is not done! As announced at the end of The Last Oracle, I'm very serious about what I call the Sequel Series. And to make you happier, we have two sequel series(es) of six books each. These series are titled Beyond Borders Alternates and Beyond Borders.

3️⃣You might be wondering: why two? And why do they have the same title? Well, my friends, I'll provide you with a background. See, Fantasilia is not static. Just because we're focusing on one island doesn't mean stuff doesn't happen on the other continents. So, with Alternates, you will learn about what just happened in these continents coincidentally with the events of COF Main. So by Beyond Borders, you will have an idea of what's been going on as these worlds crash to form one massive, high fantasy adventure extravaganza!

4️⃣And of course, I haven't forgotten about Beginnings and Endings (remember where this came from? 😉). This is a prequel series that tackles key historical events in Fantasilia's long existence. Keep an eye for it sometime in 2027 onwards, but no promises. 😄

What has been going on behind the scenes? If you notice, I've been quiet in my Message board and everywhere else, just focusing on finishing the updates of my ongoing trilogy, The Game Trilogy. Updates will finish by March, so there's that.

What have I been doing all these months? Well, fear not! I've not been idle since The Unseen Wars finished in 2023. To bring justice to the sequel series, I spent the majority of the first half of 2024 doing nothing but worldbuilding the other six continents. Using the same treatment I did for Umazure, now, we have fully-fleshed out the other six continents, their races, and their culture.

And towards the third quarter, I also finished planning and outlining all SIX books of the Alternates series. I only ever need to write them. Following me getting a soul-sucking day job, I managed to find the time to write. Now, there are two books in the Alternates series that are written in full.

Will I release them this year? The answer is no. These books are all standalones, so I will be grinding throughout 2025 to finish the other four books so that by early 2026, I can release all of them, side by side. They will be updating weekly, so you will have something to read from me for six out of seven days a week.

This also means that after ONC 2025 concludes around May, no updates will come from me until the early half of 2026. Of course, uncontrollable things can and will happen that will affect this time table, so really, no promises. But rest assured that all of the novels planned for TFLU will come out in Wattpad against all odds, and they will all be free.

TFL reaching 25K really gave me a run for my money since I am running out of ideas on ways to spoil you, my readers and friends. So now, I'll ask you. Comment on the inlines of each question your ideas on how to make these milestones more fun.

How do you want us to celebrate 50K reads?

How do you want us to celebrate 1K followers? (I am 20+ people away as of writing. Would really appreciate your input!)

Anything you're curious to see or read regarding TFLU? Any spin-off ideas? (Please be gentle. I have enough writing queue as it is. xD)

While you're thinking, enjoy this delectable illustration of our four chaos-buddies. I won't let you go empty-handed!

Again, thank you so much for this milestone which I wouldn't have ever done without your help. I can't express my gratitude enough, so for now, please enjoy this special event. See you in my gazillion other worlds, and as always, Avraja!
