Chapter 5 - Part One

At the end of my second class I stormed out, utterly pissed that I'd been given an after school detention for forgetting to hand in my homework. Don't get me wrong, the party had been good last night but sometimes I wish I wasn't quite so social... and forgetful of my school work.

Not that Mr Harvard understood my dilemma. 

On stepping out, I bumped into the hot shot himself, Todd. 'Hey.' I beamed up at him and wrapped him in a hug.

'Hey.' He said.

I fronwed. 'Don't you usually have Lit now?' 

He tugged my elbow and gently pulled me to the side. A small frown was adorably creasing his face. Hey, I'm his best friend, I'm allowed to say these things. 'What's up?' I asked.

'Has anyone been harrassing you?'

I'll give him credit, he got straight to the point. And oh my, I think I spotted a blush spread across those cheeks! Maybe he wasn't quite so cocky after all. I gave an ultra sigh. 'Yeah, I suppose they have.' Ok, if he was going to get straight to the point then so was I. When I saw his face I almost wish I hadn't.

'Ugh, I'm sorry Codie.'

I gave his arm a small slap. 'You have nothing to be sorry for, silly. Have you accepted anyone's request to go to the party on Friday?' I hedged. I'd asked, not because I wanted to know (I didn't becuase if people caught on that I knew then I'd be bombarded faster than you could say 'bombardment'), but because I wanted to make sure that he would be going with the right girl.

He shrugged his broad shoulders. 'No, not yet.' I didn't miss the small twinkle in his eyes as he said this. Hmm...

'I see.' I watched his reaction carefully as I handed him the number that Anna had given me. 'For you.' I said.
