Tritter

(898 words)

Your POV

Standing in Cuddy's office, House sits on the couch as Tritter walks in. House stands as he looks at the detective that's made Wilson have to give up his practice at the hospital.

"Well, I was told I was going to be getting an apology?"

House nods as he glances at me. Looking at Tritter again he stands there as he looks at him. "I embarrassed you when you came into the clinic, and I'm sorry."

Tritter nods slightly for a moment before he smirks, his hands going into his pockets as he looks at House.

"I accept your apology"

House nods as he stands up straight. "Great, so you'll let everyone have their money back?"

"Nope."

Raising my head as I look at Tritter. "What?"

"A couple weeks ago, I would have accepted the apology, but now its bigger than that, I can get you on fraud, malpractice, opioid use while practicing medicine."

"What kind of personal vendetta do you-"

"I don't have one, he's an addict, he'll kill someone eventually."

"Dr. House is the best doctor in this hospital. He very rarely loses patients."

"He takes what? One case a week?"

"The ratio of patients cured to dead is the best on the East Coast."

"What happens when it isn't?"

"It wont happen, he's worse with the pain. It's all he focuses on."

House stands there as I argue with Tritter, watching the both of us. Wilson walks in and shares a look with Tritter, the detective smirking as he turns to look at House.

"What's that look about?"

"Wilson did a deal of his own."

"You made a deal with him? Didn't know you two were buddies now."

"It's for your own good."

"I don't have a drug problem, I have a pain problem"

"Just a few months in rehab and the charges will be dropped. If you don't take it then you'll go to jail and lose your license in the process."

"Not going."

"House."

He looks over to me and I give a slight nod. "The wedding can wait. I think you should go."

House taps his cane against the carpet for a moment as he watches me before looking down.

"I'd listen to her House."

He shoots a look that was strong enough to probably kill at Tritter. Who only stands there, smirking to himself, knowing he would probably win this. "Then I do it for her, not because I'm scared of you."

Tritter nods gently, smirking to himself. "Wilson when he's been admitted into the rehab center and goes through the full treatment, only then will I drop the charges."

He leaves the office and I look at House and Wilson. They stare at each other for a moment, not being able to imagine the pain of betrayal that House was probably feeling. I can't blame Wilson for making the deal to begin with. His money and his car were hostages. Shaking my head I walk over and put my hand on House's arm, pulling him out of the office a little before he swings at Wilson.

Cuddy and Wilson stay in the office, Cuddy probably not too happy about her best Doctor going to be gone for a couple of months. Walking back in silence to the office, I watch as House sits at his desk.

"At least we don't have to resend invites saying the date was changed."

He doesn't respond as he sits there, playing with the red and grey ball on his desk as he spins it.

"House."

His blue eyes look up at me, a sadness in them as he glances away.

"This will be fine, we've been through worse than rehab. You know i'll be here when you get out. I can even come visit."

"Tritter won."

"That's what you're upset about? That you lost?"

He rubs his face as he sighs. Motioning for me to sit on his lap. Walking over he wraps his arms around me as he leans his forehead into my arm.

"I can't believe Wilson made the deal."

"I'm sorry, I had your therapy session marked down for later today."

He gives me a look and I soften my gaze as I put my hand on his cheek. "I know, I expected it to be Chase."

"I heard he had lunch with Tritter the other day."

"I heard that too."

It fell silent for a moment before I spoke up. "Tritter wanted you to go to jail, but this way you stay out of it. So you both technically win."

"I lose the Vicodin."

"There it is, back to the Vicodin."

Standing up he watches me, lacing his hands together.

"There's more to life than the vicodin."

"You want me to be in pain too? You know how I am with it."

"I also know how you are with your vicodin, House!" Rubbing a hand on my forehead for a second as I give a small breath I look at him.

"We can figure out other things to give you,"

"The vicodin works!"

"I know it does! If you were taking a normal amount you wouldn't have so many stashes around the apartment, you also wouldn't withdrawl when you're off of it."

"I'm in constant pain."

Shaking my head I look at him before sighing. "I know, but throwing everything away in an attempt to fix it will only cause more pain. If not for you, than to the rest of us."
