Allergies.

This part marks the beginning of Season 2

(2876 Words)

Your POV

Hearing house sneeze you raise a brow. He rarely ever gets sick. Getting up and going into the bathroom to see him holding his head in his hands, a small groan leaving him as I kneel in front of him.

His red, watery eyes look at me, he looks miserable. Raising a hand to his forehead I hum.

"You're a little warm."

"I hate allergy season."

Kissing his forehead his arms wrap around me as he leans into my chest. Playing with his hair he relaxes a little before sniffing.

"I'll get the Benadryl, but we need to get to work."

He groans loudly as he holds me tighter. Rubbing my nails on his back he nods after a second. Standing up I give him his meds and head out the door. We were at working for maybe 3 hours before he decided he was going home. Getting out of the elevator, Wilson finds us and looks at him.

"Hay fever?"

"Oh, you must be a doctor or something."

"I have a case for you"

"I can't breathe, I'm going home"

"Take some Benadryl"

"He already has, he's had 1,000 milligrams already"

House nods gently, I grab his hand gently. His fingers wrap around mine immediately. With him being sick he's always more cuddly, it's always adorable but I feel bad at the same time.

"I have a 9 year old with cancer. Rhabdo, and she's hallucinating."

"Then it's in her brain, she has a week to live."

"There's no cancer in her brain."

House furrows his brows before taking the file.  He opens it and nods gently, agreeing to take the case before looking at me. We decide to go home. Deciding to get bagels in the morning as we should be in early.

Once we were home he went to lay down, while I followed not long after with tea for him, laying in bed with him it wasn't long for him to lay on my chest again. Playing with his hair as I look over the file, answering his questions while he completely ignored the tea.

~

The night was slow. Looking at the clock as it was 5 I sat up, and move some of my hair a little. House moves next to me, and I then to see his blue eyes, still miserable. Getting out of bed he does the same before getting dressed.

"How'd you sleep?"

"I didn't, your sneezing kept me awake."

He sighs gently before putting his head against mine, his arms loosely wrapping around me. "I'm sorry."

"You can't help it, it's fine."

Leaving for the bagel shop we get into work, foreman surprised to see us so early. "You're in early. Did you sleep?"

"Can't sleep, can't breathe, in dying." House puts the bagels down and I shake my head.

"You're not dying, big baby."

House lays his head on the table as he groans. foreman opens the bag of bagels and glances at me.

"You didn't sleep either."

"No, house kept me awake."

"I'll make it up to you when I can breathe properly."

Foreman shakes his head with a sigh, putting his bagel in the toaster. Rubbing House's back as I get up, him sitting up and wrapping his arms around me. Playing with his hair as his eyes close, foreman smirks slightly.

"He's actually affectionate, what did you do to House?"

"He's usually like this when he's sick. I think most guys are. Weak."

"You just offended half of the population."

"It's only 46% actually."

Foreman holds his hands up in defence, his bagel popping in the toaster as it's done. Looking down at House I hum slightly.

"Why don't you try and sleep in your office?"

He just responds with a groan. Pulling him out of the chair he was in, I practically drag him to his office. Closing the blinds of the office and getting him into his chair. Hanging his cane next to him I grab a small throw blanket, putting it on his legs.

"I should get sick more often."

"No, I'd probably kill you."

"What if we have kids?"

Looking up at him his eyes watch mine. "Is that what you want?"

He shrugs "Nevermind"

I shake my head. "oh no, talk to me. What is it, love?"

He sighs gently as he looks at the blanket on him. He was being vulnerable something I rarely saw. Even more so at work.

"I've thought about what It would be like to have kids with you, had a couple of dreams about it before. But in the dream both of my legs work and I'm not an ass all the time."

Sighing gently I hold his hands as I look at him. "I've told you I don't care that you only have one good leg. If we ever had kids I'm sure they'd feel the same."

He looks at me, smiling slightly before sniffing. Leaning forward and kissing his cheek I smile gently. "If you want me pregnant by you, we should get married first. Make sure you can't run from me as easily."

Standing up, I make sure the room is dark enough for him to sleep. Hearing him speak I turn around to look at him.

"If I could run id only ever run towards you."

Feeling my heart skip a beat I lean against his desk for a moment. Taking in a breath I look at him. He's smiling to himself at what he just did. Shaking my head at him I sit down, leaning in his chair for a moment before smiling to myself thinking about it. It didn't take him long to fall asleep in his lounge chair, listening to him breathe I go over the file again.

~

There was a small knock on the door, looking up I find Foreman. He motions for me to go into the joining office, I get up and walk over, trying not to wake House. Looking at him as the other two are in the room with us.

"There's something else we could test for, but we didn't from her age."

"What is it?"

"Neurosyphilis."

"There's no way."

"If the infection dipped into her cerebral cortex all peripheral functions could be compromised."

"She hasn't had sex, she's nine."

"Maybe it wasn't her idea, she's been around a lot of adults."

"You think she's been molested?"

"she hasn't had sex."

Looking at Chase I raise a brow. "Why are you so sure?"

"She told me she never kissed a boy." Looking at him for a moment he sighs. "She asked me to kiss her."

We look at Chase for a moment.

"She wanted one kiss before she dies."

"Victims of molestation know how to work the angles, manipulate. Chase, did you kiss the patient?"

He moves his jaw slightly as he puts his hands on his hips. Sighing Foreman and Cameron move away from him as I look at him. "You did didn't you?"

"It wasn't sick, one small kiss for a dying girl. Before she dies, thank you."

Shaking my head I look at the floor, good thing House isn't awake for this. He would have to joke about this being why Chase can't touch his markers. Turning to Cameron, who has her hands over her mouth she looks at me. "Go see if she's had sex."

She practically runs out of the room, Foreman getting coffee, trying to forget the conversation. Chase looks at the floor, ashamed for it. Walking back into the office, I go out onto the balcony. Seeing Wilson in his office, with a patient. Looking at some small pebbles that are in the flower bed next to me, I grab them throwing them at the window.

When he finally looks at me, I motion for him to come here. Leaving his desk he comes out and furrows his brows at me.

"She hasn't been molested, if she did we would have at least had something to go on, but we have nothing. Her SAT percentage dropped another point."

He looks at me for a second. "Are you House in training? Where even is he?"

Grabbing his arm I pull him over towards the door, seeing House who's benadryl has finally caught up with him. He looks comatose in the chair. Wilson takes his phone out and takes a picture.

"He's going to kill you."

Wilson shrugs slightly. "I'll print it as a Christmas card for him. That'll give me time to run."

"She could have a tumor in her heart."

"You want to give her exploratory surgery, on an immunocompromised 9 year old?"

Sighing I look down, rubbing my temples. "I don't like the idea, but everything else is clear, she can't have two cancers at once, the CT showed nothing else."

"You have to do better than that."

Looking at him, I nod gently. He goes back into his office and I stay outside on the balcony. Deciding to get the recording of the echocardiogram. Once it was in the office, I grab House's headphones and play the sound, listening to it I furrow my brows. House isn't the only one in this relationship with a music background. I just don't play anymore, and he doesn't need to know.

Closing my eyes I focus on the sound of the valves. The first one was fine, it was normal. The sound from the tricuspid to the mitral, there was an extra flap in the mitral valve. Taking the headphones off I now know where to look. Getting up, and practically running to Cuddy's office, she needs to sign off while House is out for the count.

Finding her in her office with some sort of meeting, I get her attention after beating on the french doors for her office. She sighs before walking out and looking at me.

"I need you to sign off on a surgery, for Andie."

"Can't House do it?"

"He's not conscious at the moment, the Benadryl finally caught up with him."

She crosses her arms as she looks at me. "What do you got?"

"I think she has a tumor in the mitral valve of her heart, there's an extra flap when it beats. I heard it on the echocardiogram we did earlier. i'm pretty sure it's why her SATs are dropping."

She looks at me for a second before, nodding gently. "I hope you're right, House is rubbing off on you." Smiling she goes back into her office, heading back up the stairs and to House's office I smile gently, ge was awake.

"Welcome back to the land of the living."

He turns around as the door closed behind me, smiling gently before kissing my forehead.

"Feel better?"

Shaking his head he sighs gently. "Only a little, but just because I saw you."

Smiling gently, I hum. "I had to have Cuddy clear a surgery for the patient."

"Why?"

"You were in a temporary coma."

He nods slightly. "And?"

"She went with it, I recorded the audio for her echocardiogram she had earlier, and I could hear a tumor on her mitral valve. So she's getting taken to surgery. We should know soon."

He smirks at me and I glance away. "You're turning into me."

"Maybe I should get my leg checked for an aneurysm soon."

Making a fake laugh he looks at me. "i don't think you've had a case to work on your own. Having allergies like this lets you,"

"You're proud, you can say it. I won't tell."

Looking up at him, he looks at me for a moment, his eyes saying everything he wanted to say but wouldn't admit. Kissing him gently I smile before he pulls me into a hug. Holding him tightly, I rub his back. Jumping slightly from the phone ringing, I walk over to it and push the speaker button.

"You're on speaker."

"Is House alive yet?"

"Speak." House said, turning to the phone slightly. "You're interrupting us."

"The surgeon found a small tumor growing on the side wall of her heart, he's going to do an explant to remove it. When he does he'll had bovine pericardium to it, but if it's too big then we wont have anything else to do. And if it's metastasized there's nothing else either."

hanging up after the news i sigh gently. House smirks at me as I turn around to him. "What?"

"I'm so turned on right now."

"You've got mucus seeping everywhere almost, you aren't coming near me until you're better."

He sighs dramatically, before sitting at his desk. Leaning against the table behind him, we wait for it to be done. Once the test came back that the tumor was benign, Chase tells us that she was bleeding into her eye.

The tumor being benign doesn't make sense for the hallucinations. A clot behind her eye makes sense for the bleed in her eye but not for the hallucinations. If the tumor sent off a clot before it was removed, it would explain both. If the clot in her eye caused a seizure and the hallucination was for the brain to correct itself.

Feeling a tap on my shoe, I look up to see House staring at me. "What are you thinking about?"

"You need me to tell you?"

He nods. "The tumor could have sent a clot out before it was removed, causing the clot in the eye, making it bleed. Seizures and then the hallucination as the brain corrects itself."

Smiling at me as he twirls his cane. "You're so hot right now."

"Glad you can confirm." Bending over slightly after moving House away from his desk, I call Foreman. Still bending slightly, I feel House's hand grab my ass. "Angio her brain, see if you can find a clot in her brain before it moves or she strokes"

"Why?"

Wiggling my ass at House slightly, I hear him release a sharp breath. "The tumor might have sent a clot out, damaging her eye, and causing seizures that made her hallucinate."

"On it."

Hanging up I stand up straight and look at House. "Really?"

He shrugs gently as he looks at me. "You expect me to do nothing with your ass there?"

Shaking my head I move around him, taking my shoes off as I stand there. Pacing as I feel House's eyes on me, the phone rings. Looking at him as he answers it, exchanging a few words and hanging up. House has a very strong poker face, but his eyes give him away most of the time.

"There wasn't a clot."

Looking down from me, I grab my shoes. Trying to put them on and failing, throwing them at the wall. They thud to the ground as I put my hands in my hair. "damnit."

House stands and walks over to me, before he can touch me I step away. "Don't touch me."

He stops moving for a moment before hooking me with his cane. Pulling me to him slowly. Holding me against him as he puts his hand on the other end of his cane, I sigh heavily.

"I hoped I would be right."

"It was a good idea. You did very well."

"But I was wrong."

"Even I'm wrong sometimes."

Leaning into him, I bite my lip slightly. "She's going to die."

"I know."

~

House has the idea of cooling her down, taking some blood and then looking for the clot in her brain. Practically killing her, but hopefully temporarily. Cuddy clears it and Wilson goes to tell the mother. With the signed consent forms, House is starting to sound better. House asks if the patient knows. He goes to tell her about it, he wants to see her reaction. He wants to know if she's actually that brave, or if it's a front.

It was time for the rehearsal after he knows she was wanting to do this. Every time we tried, the beeper would go off, telling us she would have died. Once it was time for the actual procedure, we were actually able to keep her still by putting a screw into her skull. Holding her still. Being in the box and watching with Wilson and Cuddy, the whole show being ran by House. They were able to  find it near her hippocampus in her brain. Once they restarted her heart, they tried to remove it.

Sitting in House's office, we wait to find out if the surgery went well. They got the clot and she woke up without issues. Being as if nothing happened. Her bravery not being a symptom of the tumor. Once she left the hospital I look at House. He glances over to me before smirking. "Come on, I have to make up for keeping you awake the other night, but this time in a different way."

On the way home, House stops in front of a motorcycle shop. Looking at him as he asks if we could test drive it. "Are you insane?"

He waves his hand at me slightly before the guy gives us the clear. Looking at him as he gets ready to get on the bike I sigh and get on the back of it. "Do you even know how to ride one of these?" He smirks at me before kissing my forehead.
