Chapter 6: Freedom

Three and a half years had passed. It is now late 2011. The Surren had experimented on Lukarin, but every fighter they put up against him in tests met an unfortunate fate, as they died from the wounds they received in the fight. The scientists were elated! The soldiers… not so much. They had to send in 5 new regiments of soldiers to the base. Firstly, because Luke killed so many of their own soldiers in the tests, and secondly, because Luke was considered a valuable asset in the inevitable future success of the Surren.
However, Lukarin hated the place. Every ounce...no, every atom of his being despised it. He had been forced to evolve into a Lucario almost three weeks after arrival. He was glad to kill a few soldiers each day. But little did the scientists know, Luke was planning his escape, day by day…

“Rise and shine, 448!” the now-familiar british voice called. Luke woke up irritated. “The fuck do you want, you skinny cocked bastard?” Luke barked at the wall. “Excuse me?” the voice sounded offended. “I’ll put it in your words, fuckface. You’re a ‘stupid fucking wanker who can suck my sweaty balls’.” Luke said the insult in a british accent. Three years of the same voice for wake-up calls and hearing it every day, and you start to pick up on things, y’know! “Subject CA-448, you are not to be so rude to your master…” Luke laughed at the furious brit. “You do know that your brainwashing attempt hasn’t worked in the least, right? And why’d you call me 448 ever since you made me evolve?”

The voice waited before saying “That’s your name. You’re property of the Surren!” Luke scoffed. “No, My name is Lukarin Jaire Jamison, I’m only 10 years old, and one of your generals killed my Father.” He smiled at nothing in particular. The American voice came over the floor comm again. “Are you still on about that?” Luke knocked on the floor. “Listen Dave, I’ll never forget about it. You got that?”

David Blake, one of the Surren scientist’s assistants. Over the three years, he began to take a genuine liking to Lukarin. He felt bad that Luke was forced to fight to kill every day, and he sometimes communicated with Luke at nights when the Lucario couldn’t sleep. He was, in essence, Luke’s only friend.

“Y’know what would make me feel better?” Luke sighed. “Busting out?” David guessed. “I’d probably kill everyone here, barred you.” Luke chuckled. Dave laughed along. “You don’t even know what I look like, Luke.” The american was still laughing. “You’re a Midday Lycanroc, you were born in Montgomery, Alabama but raised in Trenton, New Jersey. Your mother was a Houndoom and your father was a Dusk Lycanroc. Shall I continue?” Luke said smugly. The comm was quiet for a solid 5 minutes. “How?” was the only word Dave spoke next. “I can sense your Aura, even through the walls of this damned cell.” Luke responded.

“...Either way, you want out of here? I can do that.” David’s words made Luke bolt upright. “How?” The lucario felt something come over him… for the first time in what seemed like forever; Happiness. “Just… When you get to the testing room today, look in a secret compartment underneath the fighting stage. Trust me, Lukarin.” David said in a more hushed tone. “No worries, I trust you.” Luke stretched his arms out and put them behind his head.

*About an hour and a half later…*

“CA-448, are you ready for testing?” the Russian voice said through its usual wall. “Not like I ever have a choice.” Luke retorted, but he was actually ready today; ready to fight his way out. The Surren had made him evolve. They had tried the shock treatment, but he had been shocked so much in his first four months that he didn’t even feel it anymore. Lukarin Jamison had had enough. Today, they would definitely bleed for their crimes. Every last one…

“Ah, 448 is finally shaping up.” the voice sounded a bit happier than usual. “Ready to report… Soldier?” Luke shot a deadly glare at the mirror he knew they were watching him behind. “I’m not your little soldier boy. I’m some lab rat with some shit you bitches want, but you can’t have it because it’s in my body.” Luke growled. The door in front of him opened, and the narrow hallway led to something shaped like a boxing ring, only there were two doors; one in the red, and one in the blue corner. Luke always came out of the Blue corner, which he thought was their way of reminding him he was not an average Lucario. The ring was about 25 feet by 25 feet, but the room looked to be double the size. Reinforced glass made up two of the four walls. Surren scientists were lined up by the glass, eager to watch what their favorite test subject would kill today. Out of the red door came a bulky Machamp in a Surren uniform.

“Oh, it’s just a Machamp. I thought they’d send in something challenging today.” Luke sighed. The machamp was offended, so he charged. Luke dodged with relative ease. However, unexpectedly, a fist caught Luke on the jaw, knocking him against the edge of the ring. His opponent laughed in what he falsely perceived as triumph, but he wasn’t laughing when Luke stood back up almost three seconds later, mouth bleeding slightly. “Heh. Nice shot. But that was your free one.” Luke growled, but smiled sadistically. The enemy moved to attack again, but in the blink of an eye, it was over. The sickening *crack* sound Luke’s elbow made when it came into contact with the Machamp’s sternum made almost every spectator cringe. The machamp fell to the ground, completely paralyzed.

Luke then remembered David’s advice. He hopped off the stage and saw a faint green light from below the red corner. Luke found a small button and pressed it. A drawer opened. Inside was an AK-47 with a scope, a bag with the initials “L.J.” on them, and a Katana. Luke grinned widely. “Ah, my old friend… it’s been too long.” He unsheathed his katana. He jumped back into the ring and made it an absolute bloodbath. The scientists watched in horror as their "ultimate soldier" was hacking away at the opponent's body. The machamp was barely recognizable when Luke finished. Luke wasn’t done. Not by a long shot. He took an item from his bag - an item that David had placed there - A high power glass cutter. Luke put it against the wall, and the small machine started doing its work.

Outside the glass, scientists were running frantically, trying to figure out how to stop the test subject from proceeding with his escape. Many scientists tried pushing a button to activate the electric currents in the floor… Only they never needed a shock-floor, since there had never been an Incident before. They had no way to stop him. When the cutter was finished, Luke kicked the cut glass in, and climbed out the hole. “Daddy’s home.” He drew the katana and cocked the AK. “Looks like it's gonna be a fun time……...For me!”

Luke went to work. And by work, I mean he began slicing anything in range. He cut off Arms, legs, even heads. With is AK, he was blasting anyone in range. And with his ‘Spray n’ pray’ tactic, meant pretty much anyone was in range. Blood was spewing everywhere. It’s a shame they all wore white lab coats. You could easily tell how badly each one was damaged when he fell dead on the floor.

After that room, Luke found his way to a hallway, where a pair of guards were patrolling. They raised their weapons to fire, but Luke was quicker. He cut the right arm off of an Obstagoon, then stabbed him through the stomach. He walked towards the other guard, who was shooting at him, with the Obstagoon still impaled on the katana. The bullets hit the dead guard, but not Luke. “Funny...” Luke pulled his sword out and threw the shot up corpse to the side. “That guy has so many bullets in him, you could sell him for scrap metal.” Luke glared at the terrified guard. The guard had a shotgun by his feet. “Lemme see that.” Luke picked it up and examined it. “Pump action…” He aimed at the guard’s neck and pulled the trigger. “...My favorite kind of shotgun.” Luke said, walking over the now headless body of the guard.

Anyone else who crossed him got their guts pumped full of bullets or a few limbs lopped off.

Luke snuck through some narrow hallways, stumbling upon a room with a sign that read "Exectutive's room". He could hear three voices arguing inside; One British, one Russian, and one American. Luke's paw clench the katana's hilt harder than before. The American voice was talking when a gunshot rang. The Russian voice came again. "Tell Paine we found our little mole.". "David…" he grew wide eyed as he realized what had happened. Luke kicked the door in, and on the ground, groaning in pain, was a Midday Lycanroc, shot in the leg. This was, no doubt David Blake. The two pokemon in front of David stood in silence. One was a Gallade while the other was a Greninja. After Luke had time to fully reload his gun, he spoke to break the silence. “Reporting for duty.” He said with heavy sarcasm. The Greninja walked forward. “Ah, you see, Kolenkov! He is coming around! *ahem* CA-448, your mission is…GAH!” The Greninja, who Luke recognized as the British wall voice, soon found a sword in his gut. “Ignorance can be quite the bitch, can’t it?” Luke glared into the Greninja’s terrified eyes as he pulled a knife out of the sheath on the Greninja’s belt. “You won’t be needing this… But you will be needing a Hearse.” Luke grinned menacingly and plunged the knife - a first blood - into the heart of its owner.

“Congratulations, you killed my fucking arrogant boss. Now, to further discuss your escape…” The Gallade, Kolenkov, set his gun down. Luke raised the blood covered knife, but David grabbed his leg. “Luke, don’t…. He’s not my boss… he's... the spy... assigned to this mission… he's been here for 5 years…” David and Luke both eyed the Gallade. “It is true. I’ve been here quite a long time.” The Gallade’s russian accent was undeniably the one from the other wall. “My name is Santana Kolenkov. I used to be in the KGB back in Russia, but I left that life behind to become a spy. Anywho, The Pokemon you just killed was an important ‘mon to the Surren research as a whole. His name was Dr. Mikael Franco. Never has a mon been more sick and twisted in terms of his methods… He was terrified of you because you somehow avoided being brainwashed.”

“Why would he be scared of that?” David asked as Luke helped him up. “Before Lukarin, no one had successfully kept their memories through Franco’s brainwashing process. The mon was a perfectionist control freak, so when it didn’t work on Lukarin, he got a little delusional and thought Luke was faking his memories.” Luke and David both nodded. “What now? I can’t take two other pokemon with me…” Luke grumbled. “No need. David and I have the authorization to leave whenever we please. I will stay to make sure more get liberated. As for you, Agent Blake… You must go with young Lukarin.” Luke didn’t look at David, but he could sense that he was surprised. “.........Alright. If that’s the only way we can win this…” David responded after some hesitation. “First let me fix that for you.” Santana tossed a hyper potion to Luke, who applied it to David’s leg. David let go of Luke’s shoulder, standing on his own. “Thanks for everything, Santana. I owe you big time.” Kolenkov smiled. “You owe me nothing… But if you ever stop by the Motherland, say hello to my brother, Maxwell, for me. And if you want to… I do recommend you try the vodka at his bar.” Luke and David had a good laugh before they walked out the door, leaving the Gallade to clean up Galloway’s body.

Lukarin, along with David, navigated through twisting hallways until they came across a large door. Since it was guarded by about 20 soldiers, they climbed up onto the small balcony above the door. Once up there, David identified every one of the guards’ locations. “More security’s here because it’s the garage for all Surren vehicles.”

“What am I supposed to do with this?!” David whispered. Luke smirked as he pulled out his AK and handed it to David. “Spray & Pray while I cause a distraction.” Luke pulled out the Katana in his right hand and his new First Blood knife in his left hand. Now, you may think “Luke should have his katana in his dominant hand, right?” Well, what most people don’t know is that Lukarin is Ambidextrous, or, he’s able to use both hands with equal abilities. “If you see anything that shoots faster, I call dibs.” David cocked the weapon. Luke gave a small salute to his friend before he stood up.

*End of Cha… Wait, that isn’t the end? Oof… I forgot that I actually was putting time and effort into making somewhat decent Quality chapters… Anyways INCOMING REFERENCE!!!*

Luke jumped down from the small balcony onto the floor. “Hello there!” Luke said loudly in a fake british accent. The Twenty or so soldiers turned towards Luke, raising their guns. “Identify yourself!” One said, slowly walking closer to Luke, approaching from behind. “Don’t move! We have the power to arrest you for attempted breakout!” The guard got close enough to Lukarin that the end of the shotgun barrel was against Luke’s neck. “Ever heard of personal space, Du unzivilisierter Fick!” (Translation from German: “You uncivilized Fuck!”)

With one backwards thrust of his knife, Luke easily killed the guard behind him. He put his knife away and picked up the shotgun the guard was using. “Oh, boy. It’s just not your day, is it?” Luke taunted. The remaining nineteen guards had mixed reactions. Eight of them turned and ran, screaming like children who saw a ghost. Eight of them raised their guns, but with six shots from his new gun, one knife throw, and one epic katana kill, they were dead too. And then there was the one soldier, frozen by fear. Luke slowly walked up to the soldier. This soldier, a houndour, looked no older than 16. When Luke got within three feet of him, Luke immediately noticed that his feet were wet.

“Ok, that’s just fucking gross…” Luke backed up a few feet. “...Jeez, kid, control your bladder!” The houndour shook with fear, slowly nodding. “A-are y-you g-g-gonna…” It stammered. “T-T-T-Today, junior!” Luke yelled. “DON’T KILL ME!!!” The Houndour cowered. “Ok.” Luke shrugged. “Let’s cut a deal here, you come with us, we’ll let you be free from this hell they trained you in.” Luke offered, betting that his houndour was recently dispatched from the Surren training academy. It only nodded, not speaking. “Alright then. First thing, what’s your name, kid?” Luke asked. The houndour thought hard. “All I remember is the name ‘Hunter’...” Luke grinned. “So that’s what we’ll call you. C’mon, we gotta hurry before they realize 80% of their soldiers are dead.”

David jumped down behind Luke. Luke glanced back at him. “You didn’t cover me.” “You didn’t need it.” David responded. Luke briefly introduced David to their new ‘friend’ Hunter. David nodded, then entered the code to open the door. They spotted an SUV loading with men for leaving. “There’s our ride.” Luke smirked, katana and shotgun ready. “Why do you always pick the most challenging routes?” David groaned. Hunter stayed behind them. Luke had given him the First Blood to protect himself; otherwise, they didn’t trust him with a gun quite yet.

One trooper in the back noticed Luke and yelled “Hey!! What’re you doing?!” Luke put the katana away and whispered to the other two “Play along”. Luke slowly walked over. “What do you mean?” Luke said calmly. “We’re leaving for dispatch soon! Are you dumb or did you forget orders from Kolenkov?!” David and Luke gave each other a slightly confused look. “Kolenkov said you two killed the escaped Subject and are coming to help our allies in the middle east.” The soldier explained. Luke smiled. “Glad you waited for us. Let’s go then.” Luke, David, and Hunter all loaded into the SUV.

“So, where are we going exactly?” David asked the trooper in charge. “Afghanistan. The U.S. is interfering with our allies out there, so your job is to push them back enough so they don’t take over the terrorist group. If you fail, they’ll have proof that we’re working to overthrow the government.”

Luke smiled at David when the Lucario realized David had a voice recorder palmed in his left paw. “Going to a warzone… This’ll be fun.” Luke muttered quietly. There would be at least 17 hours before they would be close to arriving, so Luke, for the first time in years, shut his eyes and slept peacefully.

Holy shit this was a long chapter to write!!!
