CODE 98 Heart
Coelestin sat in a garden full of purple lavenders and pure grass. Young and pretty women surrounded him, dressed in white long gowns and frocks, playing harps and flutes. He wore clothes of gold and silver necklaces with pure leather boots. He was reading a book titled; "Politics in the modern world" His blonde lashes were curled up and his cheeks were red. Joar stood behind him.
He closed the book, "Can I go for my weaponry class now?"
"Have you completed the book, your highness?" Joar asked.
"No, it is boring! I don't wanna sit and study about politics and war, I wanna experience it!"
Joar laughed, "Your aim should be to prevent wars, your highness,"
"Less cool but okay," Coelestin pouted and looked back into the book again, "Joar, I am thirsty. Could you get me some lemonade?"
"Of course, your majesty," Joar turned back to a maid and she left immediately. As soon as he looked ahead, Coelestin was gone.
"Your highness!" Joar slapped his forehead, "I certainly am a fool,"
Coelestin ran into the army area outside the castle and looked around for general Meinbert, "General!" He walked up to him, "Let's fight!"
"Are you done with your classes, your highness?"
"Oh yes, I am!" Coelestin smiled. He wore his armour and his bracelet turned into a spear, "Let's go!"
He fought with the general and within fifteen minutes, he defeated him.
"...You are getting good, your highness!" The general was impressed. He smiled, "I have things to protect,"
"What are those things?"
Coelestin turned back as an image of Lucifer's black wings appeared in his head, "Black wings,"
. . .
As lightning fell on the robot continuously, it overhead and burst open. Coelestin covered his face with his palms and looked at the sky. Lucifer jumped from the sky holding Valorie's hand and landed on the ground leaving a massive amount of electricity. Coelestin looked at them.
"See? I told you we are an awesome pair," Lucifer looked at him.
"Yeah," Valorie jerked his hand as it gave out tiny sparks.
"ANDROIDs are on our side?" Coelestin wondered but returned to battle shortly after. Through the corner of his eyes, he looked at Valorie. Lucifer flew towards the sky and Valorie's palms gave out electricity which Lucifer directed at their enemies through wind and killed them instantly. They were like a dark cloud wavering over the battlefield.
Lucifer laughed, "You may run if you want, but if I really want to kill you, I will hunt you down,"
'You were not like this before,' Coelestin thought, 'Is this really the person I wanted to protect?'
"A giant," Lucifer said. Valorie looked around, "Where?"
Lucifer held his hand and jumped up. The robot was quick and held Lucifer and Valorie between his fingers, ready to crush them. Valorie gave out electricity from his body but nothing happened.
"He's is insulated," Lucifer said.
"Now what?"
"Now, it's my time to shine," Lucifer said and strong winds surrounded them, breaking the hand of that giant robot away from his body. Lucifer flew up and Valorie went down. He fell to the ground, breaking his shoulder. He got up, anxious and in pain. Coelestin stood before him.
"Lucifer! Don't leave me behind!" He shouted and Colestin looked at him, seeing an image of himself in him.
'Lucifer! Don't leave me behind...'
"Lucifer..." He whispered as he picked up his electric spear and slowly walked towards Valorie.
"Shut up, dumbass! I'm trying to fight!" Lucifer said as he flew towards the sky and the wind followed him. He aimed at the robot's eyes while Valorie ran mindlessly with his arms stretched forward, "Where are you, Lucifer? It's dark, I'm scared!"
Lucifer ignored him and continued fighting the giant robot.
"Lucifer!" Valorie yelled continuously, "Lucifer! Lucifer!"
"WHAT?! CAN YOU STOP BEING SO ANNOYING?! LEAVE ME ALONE!" Lucifer shouted.
"Why are you so heartless?" Coelestin looked at Valorie's tender neck, soft skin, brown hair.
"But I can't see any-"
Valorie suddenly felt a strong hit on his neck. Everything seemed to shudder, he felt immense pain every nanosecond. Every neuron in him screamed till they ran out of breath. Darkness had enveloped his mind long ago, but now he felt his body giving up too. For seconds, his sight returned. And he somehow knew it was the last time he'd ever see, hear, feel or smell anything. Coelestin had stabbed a huge blade through the back his throat, which pierced out from his Adam's apple, tearing away his voice box. He looked at him clearly.
He saw Lucifer's back. He stretched his blood-covered hands towards him, he was right there, so close, he tried to scream his name one last time, but no sound came out of his torn-up voice box. Coelestin pulled out the spear from his flesh and slowly, Valorie's vision started going dark again. Tears left his eyes as his knees dug into the ground and he face lay flat on the ground. Coelestin walked away slowly while Lucifer finally paid attention to Valorie,
"VALORIE!" He flew towards him, "VALORIE!"
The giant robot began attacking Lucifer but Coelestin ran towards it and dug his spear into its head.
'I only want to fight for you, Lucifer,'
"...Valorie..." Lucifer hugged Valorie's corpse, "Please don't leave me, Valorie. You can't just go away in seconds... I've already lost Asselyum, Mik and Norman, please don't go. Valorie! I was wrong. I can't do this alone, I'm too weak. I need help, Val. I need you," He cried.
Coelestin looked at Lucifer,
'The prophecies were right...
I am dying young. All of a sudden, I have lost all respect for myself.
...What am I fighting for?
This person who makes me hate myself?
How can emptiness feel this heavy?
How can the same thing break your heart again and again?
Lord,
I don't ask for happiness
But I ask for a little less pain.
Oh god, I pray
Please don't let my heart turn cold.
I have sinned, but I am not the devil.
Human feelings are.
"PRINCE COELESTIN HULDRYCH DIONISIUS!" He yelled from the sky but Coelestin did not respond.
"You have lost half of your army, friends that you'll never see again, under you they perish, and so does your crown. Why do you still, a child that you are afterall, not cry?" Lucifer asked, "Is it because your heart was tamed by the rocks themselves? Or is it because you're ignorant and unaware of the death of your best men? You are losing people that will never come back! Then why, do your eyes hold no grief?!"
"ANSWER ME, YOU BLOODY HUMAN TRASH!" Lucifer raged and hence grew out of his back, two black wings. His eyes went black and his skin turned paler. The wind wrapped itself around me but I didn't say a word. Finally, Lucifer flew towards me on his black wings and lightning came right behind, it began raining and Lucifer brought the storm wrapped in lightening with him "SCREW YOU, COELESTIN!"
Coelestin quickly gathered his strength and aimed the electric rod at Lucifer's chest, half of his arm had burnt, but he used his entire strength to make his attack so quick and intense. At the fraction of a nanosecond, he saw the hesitation in Lucifer's black eyes. He could have dodged that fatal attack but he didn't and waited for his death. The rod pierced through Lucifer's white skin, reaching the blue sky from his back. His black wings flapped like a struggling pigeon held by its claws.
Both he and Coelestin were engulfed in the storm and the lightning crashed into Lucifer. The wind suddenly died down and Lucifer slowly pressed his feet on the ground, his wings came to a rest, coming on a level with Coelestin. His eyes began rolling back into his head as lightning passed through his entire body, grilling his heart, his stomach and his intestines until his body caught fire and the rain calmed the fire down. His body began falling back,
"Why I don't cry you ask? It is not because I'm cold-hearted, and it certainly isn't because I am ignorant. It is because I am used to losing people and I do not fear to lose what needs to be lost," Coelestin said. Lucifer looked at him and closed his eyes as Coelestin pulled out the electric rod, it brought with Lucifer's innards dripped in blood.
As mother Earth embraced him, he looked at the sky inside Coelestin's eyes. Lucifer remembered his old playmate, Prince Coelestin, thirteen-year-old, kind and gentle. The memories flooded into his mind, everything came back, except him.
He had always thought of himself to be better than everyone around him. But alas, he took the cruellest way to find out that death doesn't discriminate.
"I was wrong," Tears left his eyes. Coelestin looked down at him.
"Your highness," Lucifer stretched his arms towards him with tears in his eyes, his fingers shivered as they slowly ran out of life, like a flickering candle on a windy bay,
"Love me, I'm cold."
Coelestin dropped his weapon and hugged Lucifer. Lucifer breathed and pressed his forehead on Coelestin's shoulder,
"I'm sorry that you weren't truly loved and that made you cruel," Lucifer said and squeezed him tightly. Coelestin patted his back. He smelled just like he used to.
"Lucifer, at one point we were best friends. I loved you and only now do I find that love is a long, lovely suicide," Coelestin said.
"In that case, you don't have to say you love me, your highness. No one ever means it anyway. Actions...will always prove why they mean more than words. You never know when is your final fight. My entire life I fought for humanity. I'm glad the last time I fought was for myself. Even though that brought me my end, I don't regret a single thing, not a single one,"
"Lucifer,"
Lucifer pressed his blood-covered forehead on Coelestin's forehead and looked into his eyes.
"If you must die, die knowing your life was my life's best part," Coelestin said. Lucifer smiled at him,
"Today, I give you your final lesson your highness. Friendship.
Friendship is like two souls in one body, your highness. You appear in me, I appear in you. So as long as you live, so will I..."
He closed his eyes and Coelestin looked at his long, black eyelashes which slowly turned white. His hair and his black wings slowly turned white and his skin crumpled and turned wrinkly and loose.
"I have things to protect,"
"What are those things?"
"Black wings,"
It was that garden...The purple lavender garden where Lucifer's corpse lay between the dead, purple flowers, like an old, dead man. The entire battlefield was quiet. Everyone was dead. The war was over.
"I survived...So, I win.
But, it's not a happy ending."
