It was a crisp spring morning as I stood over the graves that held my mother and father Im 6 with no family or so I thought.

After the funeral the case worker asked me if she could help me with anything I asked her if I could go home and get a couple things that they forgot to patch to keep me comfortable and well give me good memories she smiled and said sure.

We got there and there was a limo there as well as movers I freaked out and she said what were the items I told her I silver chain with a locket on it and my coloring books she nodded and came back with them, when she found me I was holding my mom's favorite picture of us. We were dressed as cowboys in a saloon she folded it up and put it in my coloring books then. she said something that gave me hope

"Zach this is Bruce Wayne He's your godfather"

I looked up at the man that would take me away from my friends and asked a couple questions

"May I ask a couple favors?"

He nodded and said

"Would you like to say goodbye to your friends and school"

I nodded and said

"That and came is there any possibility I can say good bye to my dog at the humane society she's a pitbull mix puppy that only listens to me my mom wanted to get her for me but we werent stable enough so I would volunteer there as a trainer and I got good at it"

Both adults looked at me stunned and Bruce said

"Do you one better, we will take her with us"

I smiled for the first time in day maybe even a week since the accident

18 years later

I was in the batcave putting on tires on my car when alfred came down with dinner the rest of the family were out and about fighting crime and helping people out

"Master Bowen happy birthday. Tonight we have chicken alfredo and your red velvet cake is upstairs as well as your birthday gifts, and master bruce and the others are on their way back as we speak"

I smiled and nodded and walked back up behind him

A couple hours later the family all walked in wearing plain clothes they all said happy birthday and we proceeded then Barbra came in with my boyfriend axle I walked up to him kissed him and sat down next to him and smiled at my father and opened my gifts then dick went in to the other room after he left Bruce smiled and started

"Zach you have been a huge help and an unexpected addition to our family and I couldn't be happier your the mechanic the technician and over all a son, and brother happy birthday son."

Even Damion smiled and rose his glass then dick came back in with a basket and it started to shake I looked confused and dick laughed and said

"Well you know Artemis passed away a couple years ago and we thought you could use another companion but we couldn't decide on one"

I looked at dick and he took the blankets off the basket and there were two Norwegian Elk hounds in the basket I looked at dick and hugged him and then there was a loud banging at the door

"AXLE!! you are a worthless excuse for a son where are you!!"

Bruce's face hardened and got up with Alfred, Jason, dick, Tim, duke, Stephanie, Cass, and Damion the boys went out and to deal with his dad and mom, while Cass and Steph stayed here with us that's when his mom burst in the door with a pistol in her hand aiming it at me I held up my hands and said

"Mary you don't need to do this please just..."

"SHUT THE FUCK UP ZACH YOU FUCKING FREAK! Give me my son and leave us alone"

Then Stephanie and Cass came in the door and tapped her on the shoulders Cass disarmed her and Cuffed and loaded into a police car and shipped off to the pd

The next day

I got up and put my legs on and walked to the kitchen to make some breakfast jason and Stephanie came down when I finally settled on making pancakes so I started making them for everyone.

Bruce came down a couple minutes later

"Pancakes bacon scrambled eggs and sausage are for breakfast dad"

He smiled and nodded as I made him A plate and then said

Oh dad I have a job interview when a mechanic shop today I was wondering..."

"Zach is this about rent again???"

Everyone looked at me and I said

"No I'm working to buy a 65 Chevy Chevelle in the back of the lot I know I can restore it with the money you made it clear that I dont have to pay rent even though im over 18"

He looked at me and said

"how much do they want for it? I could of let you buy it with one of your birthday gifts.." I looked at him in confusion and he handed me a bank card and said

Happy birthday this is your trust fund card I put 3 million in it a year use it wisely
I smiled and said will do and went to get ready for the interview and saw a note on my bed from my boyfriend

My beautiful z I'm sorry but last night frightening and I think we need to go our separate ways in life for now and live your life because I'm going to meet your mom and dad im in the er right now with stage 5 cancer ppease promise me you will move on and be the best mechanic you can be
