Chapter 4 *remake*

The North Pole, a vast expanse of endless snow, had long been an untouched wilderness, ignored by all who passed by—until the Salvatians arrived. They quickly set up a base, using their advanced nanocores to expand it and fortify the surroundings with defensive structures, ensuring protection from any would-be enemies. Commanding this strategic outpost were two formidable generals: General Larkdow, a cunning Lizardfolk, and General Hopperfield, a sharp-witted Rabbit Wildfolk. These two leaders had a clear mission—to establish the base as a stepping stone for their forces, preparing to expand their numbers and encircle the Holy Britannian Empire. Their plan was to strike from the east when Supreme Leader Xavier gave the order for a full-scale invasion.

For now, the generals and their troops endured the freezing climate, relying on their Neohuman and Neotype abilities to adapt to the bitter cold. Despite the harsh conditions, they had set up devices to keep the base warm and livable. As they waited patiently, their vigilance never wavered. They knew that, at any moment, Britannia or the EU could send their forces to challenge them in the North Pole. But if that day came, the Salvatians would be prepared.

...

Viceroy Palace of Area 11

In the meeting room of the Viceroy Palace, the atmosphere was tense as the Britannian Purist Faction grappled with the catastrophic failure of their mission. The forces stationed in Shinjuku had suffered devastating losses, with the majority of their soldiers either killed or severely injured in clashes with an unknown enemy. Only a small fraction, about 12%, had managed to retreat, but even they bore the scars of the brutal encounters. To compound the disaster, Prince Clovis was still unaccounted for, and it was feared he had perished when the unknown assailants obliterated the command center at G-1 Base.

"What is happening?!" one of the Purist members bellowed, his fists slamming violently against the table, his frustration evident.

"Never in my life has our battle been lost for the first time!" he continued, his voice rising in disbelief. "We never lose!"

"To make matters worse," another Purist member added grimly, "Prince Clovis has not been found, and there is no word on whether he survived the attack."

Villetta Nu, her voice calm but sharp, asked, "Has the body been discovered?"

"No," came the swift reply from Kewell Soresi, who shook his head with a grim expression. "His body has not been found. If he had survived, we would have located him by now."

"This is troubling," a third Purist member muttered. "If the royal family learns of this..."

"Not unless we do something first," Kewell interrupted, his gaze shifting toward Lord Jeremiah. "Lord Jeremiah, what shall we do?"

Jeremiah Gottwald, deep in thought, struggled to erase the haunting memories of the Shinjuku Ghetto. The image of the Britannian forces being annihilated by attackers wielding advanced, unfamiliar weapons haunted him. No one, not even the Holy Britannian Empire, possessed such technology.

"Lord Jeremiah," a voice broke his reverie. He turned to face the speaker, a Purist member standing before him.

"Hm?" Jeremiah replied absently, his thoughts still elsewhere.

"I've never forgotten what happened there," he said, his voice tinged with curiosity. "What I saw makes me wonder about those attackers."

Villetta Nu leaned forward, her brow furrowing in confusion. "What do you mean?"

Jeremiah's expression grew more serious. "Those weren't just terrorists. No group of terrorists could wield military-grade weaponry like that. And the way they dressed, the weapons they carried, and how they appeared out of nowhere during the battle—it's unlike anything we've ever seen."

"Whatever they are," Kewell Soresi interjected, his tone sharp, "we need to focus on the crisis at hand. Our reputation, our very status as nobles, is at stake!"

Jeremiah nodded thoughtfully. "Have you seen General Bartley?"

"We're not sure, sir," came the uncertain response.

"Then find him," Jeremiah commanded, his voice cold. "Whether he's alive or not, I want confirmation. And if you fail to find him, your membership in this faction will be stripped permanently."

The Purist member, clearly shaken by the threat, immediately rose from his seat and hurried out of the room, his heart pounding.

"Since Prince Clovis's fate remains uncertain," Jeremiah continued, his tone now calculating, "this could be our opportunity to abolish the honorary Britannian system. But without confirmation of his survival, we need to ensure the Hi-TV Studio covers up our failure."

Kewell, his brow furrowing in concern, asked, "And how do we cover it up? What can we do to convince the public, to make them believe our story?"

Jeremiah tapped his chin thoughtfully, an idea slowly forming. Then, with a sly smile, he turned to Villetta. "Tell me, are there any survivors who made it back safely?"

"Yes," Villetta answered, her voice laced with confusion. "But why, Lord Jeremiah?"

Jeremiah's grin widened. "Hmm... Perhaps we can find a scapegoat, someone to win over the people and make them accept the abolition of the honorary Britannian system. And I already have the perfect candidate in mind."

...

Indonesia (Area 17), Britannian colonial control

The remaining Britannian forces in Area 17 were thrown into chaos as the Salvatian military launched a sudden and overwhelming invasion, striking their base in Borneo. With the help of Oracle AI, the Salvatians managed to hack into the communication systems, severing all lines of contact, ensuring the Britannians could not warn the Holy Britannian Empire of their impending doom.

Major Magistrate Jezalyn, a Neohuman, and Lieutenant General Crestfur, a Canine Kobold, were in charge of the operation, spreading their forces across the continent. Their mission was clear: destroy every Britannian military presence in the region and liberate the land. If an independent nation couldn't be established, a magistrate state would take its place, with Jezalyn promoted to High Magistrate to oversee Indonesia.

Mecha fighters and frames stormed across the islands, employing shock-and-awe tactics to crush the Britannian resistance. Astrayers, armed with XR-7 carbines, eliminated enemy Knightmare frames, while Mana Beam Blasters fired from MECS at enemy tanks and Knightmare frames. Swift Strikers hovered above the ground using anti-gravity engines, their Nebula Storm machine guns tearing into enemy vehicles. Thunder tanks unleashed powerful energy pulses at ground targets, while infantry—composed of marines, heavy troopers, and shock troopers—fired on sight, taking out any Britannian soldiers they encountered.

At the Britannian naval base, Fieldmarines launched a surprise attack, blasting apart navy ships with arcane heavy blasters from beneath the water's surface. Meanwhile, a squadron of Skykiller fighters engaged Britannian jet fighters and VTOL gunships, outmaneuvering them with ease and destroying them at breakneck speeds.

The Mecha divisions surrounded and neutralized the remaining defenses, capturing the naval base and declaring it their own. The surviving Britannian soldiers were taken to a POW facility where they were put to hard labor. Those who resisted or attempted to escape were executed on the spot, sending a clear message to the remaining Britannians: comply or face swift retribution.

In Jakarta, the Britannian military was caught off-guard as the Salvatians launched an all-out attack, deploying infantry, vehicles, aircraft, Mecha fighters, and Mecha frames to take the Viceroy Palace and eliminate the viceroy. The Britannian citizens fled in panic, their world crumbling under the Salvatian assault. The Vindictarium Technocasters disrupted the defense systems with technomagic, releasing EMP blasts that plunged the area into darkness, while the Salvatians, with their overwhelming numbers, surrounded the Viceroy Palace.

As the Palace fell, a special operations team and Vindictarium knights, led by four paladins, fought their way through, methodically clearing each room. When they reached the viceroy's office, the noble attempted to assert his authority, but before he could act, the spec-ops leader ended his life swiftly—his nobility rendered meaningless in the face of this invasion.

With the viceroy gone, Area 17 was officially liberated and renamed Indonesia. The native people celebrated their newfound freedom, hailing the Salvatians as liberators for freeing them from Britannian rule. Major Magistrate Jezalyn was informed by High Command that his performance had earned him a promotion to High Magistrate, granting him the power to establish a magistrate state of his own. While the ceremonial ritual to cement his new position would have to wait, Jezalyn knew that his work had only just begun.

As he settled into his new role, Jezalyn noted the lack of political intelligence among the Indonesian people. Most had been confined to the ghettos under Britannian rule, and even those granted honorary Britannian status were excluded from politics. Determined to change this, Jezalyn established the Magistrate State of Indonesia, offering the people safety and protection under his rule. Unlike the Britannian system, all Indonesians were granted constitutional rights, and the Supreme Leader's belief in unity was upheld as the true superior race. Those who threatened the social order through inequality were labeled as subhumans, to be neutralized or contained.

The Britannian citizens in the region faced a difficult choice: either abide by the new laws, treating the native people as equals, or be sent to internment facilities for re-education. The majority were sent to these facilities to undergo rehabilitation, with the aim of transforming them into better individuals. Those who chose to stay and accept the new regime knew they would be watched closely, for any sign of racial discrimination or prejudice would not go unnoticed. The consequences for such behavior would be severe.

...

New Zealand (Area 9)

The massive Salvatian forces surrounded the small continent, destroying naval bases in different locations using mecha fighters and aircraft units. Ground invasion forces, made up of numerous divisions, spread across the land to conquer Area 9.

The Vindictarium Order engaged Britannian forces at the mountain base. The Vindictarium technosorcerer led the technomages to use their technomagic on Britannian knightmare frames to take control, opening the cockpits, and allowing Vindictarium myrmidons to kill the pilots. The controlled Britannian knightmare frames then destroyed Britannian soldiers and ground vehicles, clearing the path for Vindictarium Order forces. Vindictarium Velites Warriors sped through the mountain terrain using arc repulsor wing boosters to pick off enemy knightmare frames. The flying myrmidons and gray mages (harpies, angels, and whitehorn demonkins) ascended above the Britannian mountain base, and the gray mages commenced magic barrage attacks on the structures, knightmare frames, ground vehicles, and infantry caught in the attack. The flying myrmidons swooped in and cut down the remaining Britannian soldiers and personnel on sight. When the Vindictarium Velites Warriors and controlled Britannian knightmare frames arrived, they took out the remaining ground vehicles and aircraft stationed on the ground.

Over time, the Vindictarium infantry units surrounded the remaining Britannians inside the room, and they surrendered. Thus, the mountain base was now controlled by the Vindictarium Order.

At the Wellington Settlement, the Grand Army of Salvatia launched a full-scale attack on the settlement to reach the viceroy palace. The Salvatians moved into the city to eliminate enemy positions in the area. The Britannian defenses were no match for the Salvatian Titan Maulers and Dreadbusters, which fired every weaponry on them from the sky. The GAS mages formed magic barriers to prevent enemy ground forces from pushing forward, while Salvatian Fieldgrunts opened fire on enemy tanks, APCs, and knightmare frames. Infantry units, composed of army troopers, marines, shock troopers, heavy troopers, HACUs, Marine HASDs, Army HASDs, and Invader drones, took out both Britannia police forces and military forces in every area.

When they reached the viceroy palace, the defense turrets on the walls opened fire at the Salvatian ground forces. The defense turrets were destroyed by Salvatian Fieldgrunts and Fieldgrunt Cannons, allowing the mecha frames and infantry forces to enter the viceroy palace. The Salvatian infantry force faced heavy resistance from the Britannian side, but with the help of mages and heavy grenadiers, they were able to breach the defenses and eliminate any surviving enemy soldiers. They reached the viceroy's office room, where the viceroy, a high-ranking noble, was terrified and in disbelief that anyone could breach the palace defenses. Seeing the giant knightmare frames and mecha fighters that had destroyed his defense systems, he quickly surrendered and was subdued by the Salvatian infantry unit.

Thus, Area 9 was occupied rather than liberated. The Maori people, who had been tribal natives long before Britannia colonized the area and had been enslaved under the viceroy's rule, were given re-education to become intelligent, progressive people rather than remaining in traditional tribal ways. Britannian people trapped under the new rule were either sent to internment facilities for re-education and rehabilitation or decided to stay under the new rule out of fear of being sent to internment camps. Later on, since High Magistrate Jezalyn decided to establish the Magistrate State of Indonesia, Xavier Salvador sent another high magistrate, Cirdan Jadecrest (a male elf), to take control of the newly established Magistrate State of New Zealand and start building up forces as a foothold for a potential Holy Britannian Empire invasion.

...

Constitutional Authority-class Super Dreadnought, Throne Chamber

Frieda Vordieus stood before the towering figure of Xavier Salvador, reading from a tablet as she reported on the latest developments.

"Area 17 and Area 9 have been liberated and transformed into magistrate states, ensuring the safety and protection of the people," she began, her voice steady. "Britannian citizens and military personnel who rejected the new regime have been relocated to internment facilities for re-education and rehabilitation. The goal is to address their prideful nationalism and social Darwinism views. POWs are being sent to labor camps, where they will contribute to rebuilding efforts and other tasks. I prefer not to go into further detail."

She finished, glancing up at Xavier, who sat in his throne-like chair, his piercing gaze fixed on her.

"Good to hear," Xavier replied calmly. "With these new footholds secured, our forces will only grow stronger. The establishment of portal gateways in these magistrate states will bring more troops to solidify our naval presence and engage the Britannian navy. Frieda, how are things progressing in Australia?"

"We've received word that Australian President Gavin P. Donnelly has agreed to the secret alliance with us," Frieda answered, her tone confident. "In exchange, we will provide them with advanced technology for both economic and military purposes to safeguard their sovereignty. We've also gained permission to establish a base in Australia, which will increase our numbers and allow us to supply new mecha frames to help strengthen their military against the Britannian Knightmare frames."

Xavier nodded thoughtfully. "That's good. They now have a clear incentive to work with us. We'll also offer them resources that could surpass sakuradite once I receive it from the science division and neutralize it."

He leaned back in his chair, considering the implications. "So, how are our new allies faring? Have they received the special gifts I promised them?"

"They have," Frieda responded, her voice tinged with a hint of anticipation. "Though they haven't yet received the mecha frames."

Xavier's brow furrowed as he shifted the conversation. "And what about Kamine Island?"

Frieda's expression remained composed. "The base has been established, and they've discovered temple ruins related to Geass. Gray Sage Aelorian is handling the situation."

Xavier gave a satisfied nod. "Good to hear."

He then shifted gears, his tone growing more personal. "How is Mihara?"

Frieda's lips curved into a slight smile. "She's fine. She's with a caretaker."

Xavier raised a hand, and a holographic screen materialized before him. It flickered for a moment before stabilizing, showing Mihara Miyasaki sitting on a bed, engrossed in a book in her new room. The door opened, and a fox beastfolk caretaker entered, asking if Mihara was well. The girl responded kindly, her soft voice echoing in the room.

Frieda glanced at Xavier knowingly. "I know what you're thinking, sir."

Xavier blinked, startled. "Hm?"

She smirked, reading his thoughts with unsettling accuracy. "You're considering adopting her, aren't you?"

Xavier waved his hand, dismissing the holographic screen. "I suppose I am."

Frieda studied him, her tone contemplative. "I wonder, Xavier, why do you continue to adopt children, even after their old lives are gone? You've had several adopted children back in our homeworld. Some worked in charity for the people and the colonies, some lived normal lives, and a few even joined the Black Death Legion or the Grand Army of Salvatia."

Xavier looked down for a moment, his voice softening with a rare vulnerability. "To be honest, I do want a family. Now that my old human family is gone, I feel the need to build one of my own. The Salvador family has always been entrusted with political roles, and it's important to ensure that the republic remains non-hereditary. I respect the constitution, and when the time comes for me to step down, I trust that new leaders will rise to carry on the work. But for now, I'll continue to serve as a paternal figure, maintaining the rule of my sovereign republic."

Frieda paused before speaking again, her voice slightly more teasing. "Do your children in the Black Death Legion know about your plans for this universe?"

Xavier's expression remained neutral. "Perhaps. They're busy with their roles in the Legion and focused on their own missions. I'm sure they'll be fine on their own."

...

Antarctica (South Pole)

Mecha Factory, Salvatian Antarctica Military base

The icy expanse of Antarctica stretched endlessly around the Salvatian Military base, the South Pole's harsh winds biting into the skin as the Japanese delegation arrived.

Yukawa Keiki shivered, his breath visible in the frigid air, and muttered, "Geez... Do Salvatians really build their base here?"

Shiro Mayu, equally stunned by the cold, shook her head in disbelief. "I can't believe they built this base so quickly. How did they manage to construct it so fast? What kind of technology do they have?"

Before anyone could respond, a deep voice answered, "It's nanocore."

The group turned to see Bakir Lavaheart, a male draconic kobold with a thick set of scales and a confident stride, approaching them.

"Hi there! I assume you're Japanese, am I correct?" Bakir asked, his voice warm despite the chilly surroundings.

Furuse Kohei nodded, stepping forward. "That's us."

"Good. Allow me to give you a tour of this place," Bakir said, a smile crossing his face as he turned to lead the group.

As they walked through the sprawling mecha factory, the Japanese visitors marveled at the sights around them. Machines hummed as they crafted massive mecha fighters and frames for the military. Maintenance crews hovered over schematics, checking and adjusting designs with practiced efficiency.

Bakir's voice echoed with pride as he explained, "As you can see, we use something called a Technoforge Constructor. It builds and produces most of the military equipment—everything from vehicles and aircraft to robotic drones, weapons, starcraft, stationary emplacements, and, of course, mechas. With the power of our magitechnology, we've been able to create a much more formidable arsenal."

Furuse let out a low whistle, his eyes wide as he watched the mecha fighters take shape. "Seeing something like this... The Britannians would be green with envy."

Hitarashi Ogai scoffed at the idea. "Are you kidding? The Britannians would see these mechas as a direct challenge. They'd look at our mecha fighters and frames and think their Knightmare Frames were outdated. Our machines would crush them in seconds."

Shiro Mayu couldn't help but laugh at the image.

Ishiwari Mayu, always the inquirer, raised her hand. "Excuse me, Mr. Lavaheart. Did you hear about our mecha frames?"

Bakir nodded, his expression serious yet eager. "Yes, I've been briefed. The Supreme Leader requested that we provide you with new mecha frames, ones that can surpass the Knightmare Frames. We've been working on the schematics and maintenance, and my crew has put in a lot of effort to complete them. It's been a challenge, but we've finished them. Ah, here we are!"

With a flourish, Bakir led the group into a massive hangar, and the Japanese delegation was struck silent. Before them stood their custom-designed mecha frames. These machines, tailored to their unique specifications, were far more advanced than anything they had ever seen, easily surpassing the capabilities of the Britannian Knightmare Frames.

The group stood in awe, their eyes scanning every detail, amazed at the technology laid out before them. The sleek, powerful designs reflected a new era of mecha warfare—one that promised dominance over their foes.

For Ishiwari Mayu (Mecha Frames -  Rovenjā (originally merged name of 'Ronin' & 'Avenger' ):

For Shiro Mayu (Mecha Frames - Yoriki):

For Furuse Kohei, Usui Wakumi, Yukawa Keiki, & Hitarashi Ogai (Mecha Frames - Kougeki):

After a few moments of admiring their customized Japanese-designed mecha frames, the group began to voice their thoughts aloud.

Usui Wakumi was the first to speak, her eyes still wide in awe. "Now that's the most amazing mecha frame I've ever seen."

Furuse Kohei nodded in agreement, clearly impressed. "They even made them with custom Japanese designs and color schemes. Nice touch!"

Yukawa Keiki grinned, his hands tucked in his pockets. "Bet I could ride one of those babies. They look way less like Britannians and more like something out of Japan."

Hitarashi Ogai surveyed the frames with approval. "I find their style impressive. I approve of this."

Meanwhile, Shiro Mayu stood beside her own mecha frame, her eyes sparkling with excitement. "Whoa... I like it! Hey, sister, what do you think of yours?"

Ishiwari Mayu gave a thoughtful nod, her gaze focused on the sleek machine. "Honestly, they're not bad at all. I love how they carry that Japanese style. It's almost like they'll be more effective against the Britannians on the battlefield."

Her eyes then turned to Bakir Lavaheart, the draconic kobold chief engineer, as she added, "We thank you for giving us the opportunity to free our country from Britannian rule."

Bakir smiled, his chest swelling with pride. "Thanks! But all credit goes to our Supreme Leader. He's the one who made this happen."

Ishiwari Mayu nodded, but her gratitude remained. "Still, we thank you for everything you've done. We hope to repay the favor by fighting alongside your people."

Bakir's expression softened, clearly touched by her words. "Heh, much appreciated."

He cleared his throat, his tone growing more practical. "Anyway, before you can operate those mecha frames, it would be best to start training on how to control them properly."

Yukawa Keiki groaned, slouching slightly. "Huh? Are you serious? Ugh, I really hate training."

Furuse Kohei chuckled, giving him a friendly nudge. "Oh, come on, Yukawa. These mecha frames are different from Knightmare Frames. From what I understand, they use neural interfaces to transfer our consciousness into the machines, letting us control them like they're our own bodies."

Ishiwari Mayu stepped forward, her tone firm. "He's right. It's better to train first and understand how to operate these mecha frames properly. We're new here, and we need to know how to use them. I don't want any of us to face complications when we use them in battle against the Britannians."

Her words struck a chord with the others, and they agreed that proper training was essential before they could confidently operate the mecha frames in battle.

Bakir gave a nod of approval. "Good! Now, let's go. I'll take you to the simulation room, so you can begin your training."
