ƎᗡOƆ 𝟸𝟹| Is he really Haneul?

Yoongi was few steps away from reaching the elevator when his phone rang again. He fished it out from his pocket with a groan and took the call while walking towards the elevator.

"Yes, hyung-"

"Sorry, Yoongi- that was a wrong call. That jerk forgot to bring the reason report today, so I'm sending back the whole report."

Yoongi clenched his jaw and tightened his grip on the phone when he heard the yelling voice of the caller.

"No no, you had only one job- JUST ONE! How can you be THAT irresponsible to not bring the reports properly?! Seriously you-"

He rolled his eyes and ended the call, obviously, he's not in a mood to hear others ranting at unknown fellas for stupid reasons. And made his way back to the meeting room.

Everyone stared at him as he entered the room lazily and sat down in his place, but none uttered a single thing. He asked, "So, where were we?"

"Uhm...we were debating on whether the numbers say it's a murder or not...?" Jungkook answered while looking at the others, still unsure whether he should put it that way or not.

Youngdo sighed and said while looking at Yoongi from the corner of his eyes, "We'll know as soon as the postmortem report comes out. Until then I decided not to comment anything about it."

Yes. Postmortem report it is.

Yoongi's mind clicked. He called someone and putting the phone on speaker, he placed it on the table.

Everyone looked baffled as Namjoon dared to ask, "Who're you calling?"

"Jin hyung."

Youngdo wasn't acquainted with the named male in person but found a similar name in the members' name list of the case. Dr. Kim Seokjin. He asked, "Who's this Jin hyung?"

"It's our forensic doctor, Dr. Kim-"

Hoseok got interrupted as the receiver answered the call- "Yeah, Yoongi-ah?"

Yoongi was prepared with the plate full of his questions and he served it without wasting any time. "Hyung, did you see the postmortem report?"

"Yeah, I did. But I still can't tell you the reason for his death exactly, Yoongi...as I said that idiot forgot to bring the fucking reason report today!"

Everyone looked at each other and then at Yoongi. Taehyung and Jungkook were suppressing their laughter at the rant of the older one on the phone.

Yoongi bit his lips and asked, "Okay okay- but...can you tell me if there was something in the food or not?"

"No- the food was alright. He didn't die from food poisoning but cardiac arrest. Lord, I would've given you the report if this jerk didn't decide to mess up everything! Oof!"

Yoongi smirked at Youngdo who looked surprised and taken back at the information. Little down, he was expecting that it must be a murder by food poisoning Mr. Chang's food.

"It's okay, hyung. I got what I wanted to know. Thank you."

"Yeah okay."

The call ended and everyone's baffled expression got caught by Yoongi. He looked at Youngdo with a smirk, who was in deep thoughts with something, and said, "So it's proved that it's not a murder I guess."

Youngdo didn't say anything and looked away.

When Taehyung asked, "Then...are we still taking the case then? It's not related to the one we already have in hand-"

"No. We'll have to deal with this case because he was a witness in the case too. Mr. Chang knew Dr. Lee personally so yeah...we'll work on that case too until we get any report to leave the case in hands of the government." Yoongi stated.

Hoseok leaned forward and asked, "Wouldn't it be hard to deal with both the cases together? Our team is comparatively small..."

"We'll divide the team in that case-"

"I guess we should wait until we get the postmortem report in our hand," Youngdo said interrupting Yoongi to which Jungkook and Namjoon agreed.

"Yeah...I agree with hyung. We should wait until the report comes." Namjoon stated when Jungkook nodded in agreement.

Yoongi looked at the others, who seemed to agree with their logic too. It's a team, he can't just go in his own ways always. He looked away from them and nodded slowly...

"Okay then. Let's wait."

With hurried steps, Hoseok was passing down the reception hallway with his backpack. He was about to push the exit glass door when Jungkook came from behind and tugged in his backpack, making the poor guy stumble backward from the sudden attack.

"What the-" He cursed and turned to look at Jungkook as soon as he gained balance. "Are you kidding me?! I could've fallen on you, idiot!"

"Sorry bro- but are you leaving early today?"

His apologetic look calmed down his nerves and he answered with a soft tone, "Yeah. Suga hyung said we'll wait until the report comes tomorrow and I got a sudden call."

"Oh...but- can you please drop me by my apartment, please?" Jungkook pleaded like a child but here Hoseok had no time for that and again, he was feeling bad to say 'no' at his face.

He tsk-ed and ordered, "Okay. But- I'll just drop you by the main street."

"Will do! Thank you!" Jungkook gave a side hug and exited with an excited state.

Hoseok sighed and mumbled while following him, "This boy...seriously..."

Haeun kept on humming the music of the song 'Bad Blood' as she kept on cleaning the dishes in the sink. In her deep thoughts when she just suddenly sang out the line- 'now we've got bad blood' made shivers ran down her spine as it entered in her ears.

Her own voice seemed triggering to her!

Completing her work, she peeled off the pink gloves from her hands and stared at her reflection in the bowl full of beetroot soup. Her face pale, dark circles surrounded the beautiful almond-shaped eyes, and her brunette hair set tightly into a messy bun with few strands trailing behind her ears.

Even if this way...she looked beautiful. But she resembled someone who she misses very dearly- her father. The red ripples of the soup brought back the flashback of the day he went missing and trails of blood found from the place from where he jumped into the Han river.

The only thing that still makes her believe that Dr. Bae, her father is alive, is that...his body was never found.

I still believe that you'll come back one day-

"Haeun-ah! Are you ready?" Haneul yelled from his room while putting on his white t-shirt.

Sniffing a bit, Haeun answered back, "Yes, I'm. But I made some soup for us, let's have that first."

He came out of the room and looked at her with a scrunched nose, "Are you planning to go like this?"

"Why- what's wrong?"

Haneul facepalmed. He opened his phone camera and put it in front of her face, "Look here. You're looking like a ragged doll, idiot! Go doll up, I'm waiting."

She deadpanned, "I'll go frustrated now."

"That will do-" He took a sip of the hot soup with a spoon and continued, "Today's your day. I ain't complaining."

"We're just going to a carnival for god's sake!"

He put down the bowl and replied, "And still you need to. Cause you're going out with a sweet and handsome brother like me!" He squealed which made her give him a disgusted look at that.

"You know what...you're not cute but a jerk. You have always been- even when we first met after so many years in Seoul, you were that jer-" Realisation hit her in no time as the excitement slowly faded from Haneul's face and he looked dead serious. "Uhm- I mean-...sorry...just came out like that," she stuttered as she understood her mistake.

He took a deep breath and putting his hands in his trouser pockets he said, "It's okay. But...you still remember what happened that day?" His eyes looked deeply into hers, trying to find the hidden emotions in them.

Haeun looked away and replied with an unsure tone, "Not much...just...certain things of our encounter. Actually, I believe the ones you said...nothing more or less."

"Hmm...okay." He nodded and then his serious face entered the exciting mode again and he pushed Haeun inside her room and said, "Now it's time for you to doll up princess~ You already got us, late dummy!"

"Okay okay, my brother~" She laughed at his rant and locked the door to get ready.

Rummaging her wardrobe she finally found one and headed straight towards the mirror with it. Her demeanor changed as soon as she stood in front of the mirror holding the floral dress she chose to wear.

Again the flashbacks...

Yeah...she never told Haneul that she slowly remembered most of the things in bits and pieces within these 4 years after her counseling and diagnosis for the brain injury. Except for her encounter with him and how she lost her cousin and uncle.

"Ahhh...."

Throwing the dress on the bed, she held her head tightly with both hands, as the pain surged through her head as his voice started to pierce her mind.

-----

The sound of boots interrupted her raging thoughts and her gaze fell on those black boots, standing at about 12 feet away from her. Dressed in all black, the stranger started to march towards her. She felt like backing away but couldn't as if her feet were attached to the ground for eternity.

"Wh-Who are you?" She wanted to sound steady but failed miserably as they were just inches apart from each other now. "Don't come n-near me!"

"Why? You scared of me?" She could easily feel he was smirking even when his face was covered by a black mask as the hooded eyes glittered up with a mocking tinge. "Seems like you really are," he said, teasing evident in his deep voice.

-----

It was Haneul, her brother but why she reacted that way and the difference in the story told by her brother makes her suspicious at times. And the fact that his voice and look resembles someone she knew very dearly is the triggering point for her- not her family complexion, he has a whole different complexion all over!

"Are you done Haeun?" The knock and that deep voice sent shivers down her spine and interrupted her zoned out self.

Haeun looked at the door and answered while stuttering, "Ye-Yes- just 5 more minutes!"

Is he...really Haneul? My brother?

The car sped fast down the empty wet road as the rain started to pour down as heavily as it can, making it look like a thick layer of fog all over the place. The sun is yet to go down but the dark clouds are making it hard to find the sun in the sky.

The sound of the radio and the rain was mixed in the atmosphere of the car, making it a bit entertaining for Hoseok. His body slowly moved with the beats of a few Korean songs that kept on playing on the radio.

"What's that...?"

Suddenly, flicks of red-lighted rod caught his eyes and he lifted off his foot from the accelerator pedal. To catch the normal speed he was about to change the gear which caused the channel to change in the radio as his hand hit the button.

He tsk-ed and was about to change it to the previous channel when his ears caught something-

All the roads from other cities to Gwangju has been closed due to the heavy downpour and avalanche of Mudeungsan mountain. Any vehicles other than railway and waterway will be forbidden to enter the city for three days.

Everyone is being alerted by the district officers all around the connected districts and cities-

He pushed the brakes hard and stopped the car only to curse and rest his head on the steering wheel.

"I just hope he's alright...", he mumbled under his breath and sighed.
