I shot upright. Alessa did too, and she grabbed onto my arm. The windows shattered, and I pulled Alessa behind me. She buried her head in my back. S.H.I.E.L.D. agents came in through the broken window and they broke down the door. I was shocked, but I knew I had to protect Alessa. I got up and set Alessa down on the floor next to me.

"Take her. The older one." A soldier said.

"Meg, what's going on?" Alessa asked, frightened.

"These men want to kill me, Alessa. Just do what they say." I told her, blinking back tears.

"What about the child?" Another soldier asked.

"She knows too much. Kill her." The first one said.

"Meg!" Alessa cried, "I don't want to die!"

The soldier was about to pull the trigger, and I ran in front of Alessa, taking the bullet. I fell onto my back, and my ears were ringing.

"Sir, she's dying. What should we tell Director Fury?" The soldier said.

"Tell him that she took a bullet to foolishly save her sister." He said, turning away.

I knew the bullet hit me in the chest, right near my heart. My vision was fading in and out, and as I got closer to death, it got blurrier. I could see Alessa's face staring down at me, and her tears fell onto my cheeks. I raised my hand up one last time, and rubbed it against her cheek and ran it through her blonde hair with the pink and blue streaks. Then, all went white, and I breathed my last breath.

"I love you, Alessa." I told her as I faded away.

"I love you too, Meg." Alessa said. Those were the last words I ever heard.

Sorry for the short chapter. I wanted to make her death somewhat meaningful. I decided to end it with her protecting Alessa from the agents, and the gunshot was something I pulled from a series I watched on YouTube. The name Alessa also came from that series. I also took inspiration from Rue's death in The Hunger Games, so big shoutout there too for that meaningful death. I cried during that, tbh.
