"This school is finally starting to turn around," thought Kenny as he high-fived one of his fellow classmates while on his way out of West Valley Middle School.

It was almost impossible to believe he was the same kid who enrolled a few months ago. He used to be this shy, nerdy kid who got pushed around and just took it. But after joining Cobra Kai (and with a lot of help from his mentor, Robby), Kenny had grown stronger, more confident than he could have ever hoped for. He even made it to the quarter-finals in the All-Valley tournament!

Best of all, Anthony LaRusso's finally getting a taste of his own medicine.

"Wait up!" called Lia, her shoulder-length brunette hair bouncing against back as she ran up to Kenny.

He jumped down from the bus steps and smiled back at her.

Maybe she saw me play basketball yesterday and wants to congratulate me.

"You left your backpack in the science lab," explained Lia, politely as she passed it to him.

"Oh, thanks," nodded Kenny, disappointedly as he slipped one of the straps over his shoulder.

Her energy seemed contagious as she smiled warmly back at him.

C'mon, now's your chance to strike first!

"Would you wanna hang out sometime?" asked Kenny, nervously.

"Like on a date?" questioned Lia, raising an eyebrow.

"Yeah, if you want to, that is," answered Kenny, quickly.

Of course, she's going to say no when I ask her like that.

"Sure! How about saturday?" offered Lia as she waved some of her friends over.

"Oh, sounds great!" smiled Kenny, perking his head up.

"Then it's a date," agreed Lia, winking before joining her friends on the bus.

"Cobra Kai's lessons really do work for everything!" thought Kenny, happily as he took his seat at the front of the bus. He smirked as he saw Anthony walking past his seat, keeping his eyes locked on the ground.

Now who's the popular one, LaPusso.

He decided to head to the Cobra Kai dojo an hour early, hoping to tell Robby the good news.

If there's one person who can help me plan a date, it's Robby. After all, he is dating the prettiest girl in the dojo.

As he pushed open the glass front door, his eyes were met with a familiar face, only it wasn't the person he was expecting.

"Hey, little bro," grinned Shawn.

Happiness flooded over Kenny's entire body as he ran into his brother's open arms. It had been so long since he'd be able to see him free. He looked healthy, especially for just having been released from juvie. He wore a plain white t-shirt paired with a navy blue sweatshirt and sweatpants. From a stranger's view, one might have thought he was dangerous due to his height and broad shoulders, but Kenny knew otherwise.

I don't know what I would've done if anything happened to him.

"I've missed you so much," admitted Kenny as he stared up at his brother, tears of joy sparkling in his eyes.

"I know. Me too, little bro," agreed Shawn as ruffled Kenny's hair playfully.

The two brothers sat down on the matted floors, dropping their bags beside them.

"How did you know where I trained," asked Kenny, curiously.

"Mom told me over the phone. Said it was a good idea to surprise you," answered Shawn, shrugging.

"That sounds just like her," laughed Kenny.

"So, how'd Keene do on training you?" questioned Shawn as he pulled out two coke cola cans from his duffle bag and tossed it to Kenny.

I would've said great until yesterday.

"I thought things were going pretty well. He even taught me how to flip-kick! But something changed last night and he started acting strange, almost apologetic. He even stopped me from standing up to the kid who's been bullying me," explained Kenny, honestly.

It felt good just to have someone to talk to about the subject because obviously, he couldn't talk to Robby about Robby.

Shawn nodded, understandingly, though Kenny swore he saw him slowly clenching his fists as they talked.

"So, what do you say to dinner at KFC? I'll pay," offered Kenny.

"Oh, I see how it is. Now that you're a karate star, you get all the cash," mocked Shawn as he pushed himself to his feet, smiling.

I wish this moment could stay forever.
