The Arrival; Johnny Lawrence (Part 26)
Johnny pressed his foot as hard as he could against the car's petal.
It's one thing attacking me, it's another thing hurting my son.
He would have loved nothing more than to drive to the Cobra Kai dojo and punch the grin right off Terry Silver's face, but he couldn't. His focus had to be on making sure Robby was okay and finding Miguel.
I'm still saving that idea for later.
In the passenger seat, Robby was sitting with his back against the seat, his eyes closed. Johnny had thought he looked tired before, but he had said that he was fine (how was I supposed to know that when a teenager says they're fine, they're not actually fine! That makes no sense!). During their fight against Silver's hired men, Robby took a pretty hard hit to the head and had gotten a concussion so, Johnny decided to give him some pain killers. He actually looked at peace when he was sleeping, even if the mind inside his head wasn't.
The car passed by a sign reading: Welcome to Mexico City.
Finally, we're almost there.
The sooner he found Miguel, the better.
And all I have to do is say a quick apology and he'll give me that signature Miguel smile and we'll all head back to LA so we can DESTROY Cobra Kai.
Thirty Minutes Later...
"Dad, is everything alright?" asked Robby as he slowly opened his eyes.
"Yeah, we're almost there," answered Johnny.
Even with the pain killers, he hadn't slept for very long, but Johnny would take what he could get, especially since they were almost to the Diazes' old house anyway.
Robby nodded in acknowledgement.
Okay, now's time for the part I don't wanna do.
"I know you said you wanted to come with me, but if you're not ready to-"
"No, it's okay. I have to face this at some point," smiled Robby, half-hearted.
His answer wasn't very convincing, but instead of arguing, he just nodded back.
Things with him are finally going well, don't blow this.
They drove onto street Allende. It was a mostly straight road, the problem was that Johnny only knew what the house looked like, not its number. They passed by several houses. One small house had a dog running in the backyard and was painted a vibrant yellow. Another one was large and painted an unpleasant lime green house with growing flowers popping out of the ground. There was even a medium-sized one that was painted purple and decorated with bright white lights.
Honestly, the city was a bit too bright for Johnny's liking, but he didn't really care considering he wouldn't be staying for long. Finally, they reached the house from the photograph. It looked deserted, paint clipped off in every area that his view looked. The roof slanted further downward than in the photo and he could see cobwebs hanging from its loose shingles.
And I thought my apartment was bad.
"Are you sure this is the right place?" asked Robby as they both got out of the car, making sure to lock the doors behind them.
"Yeah. At least, that's what Carmen says," answered Johnny as they walked up the front yard, making sure to avoid a foul smelling green patch near the entrance.
"Remember to stay alert, we don't know what's behind those doors," reminded Johnny as he inconspicuously positioned himself in front of his son.
I might've suggested he come with me to the middle of Mexico, but that doesn't mean I'm not going to keep him safe.
They heard muffled talking from a distant corner inside the house.
"I can't believe I'm actually standing next to my dad," he heard a familiar voice say.
Miguel.
He couldn't explain it exactly, but when he heard Miguel say the word "dad" anger started to fill his insides. Without a second's thought, Johnny kicked the door to the house open and ran towards where the voices were echoing from.
The second he entered the room, his eyes fell on where Miguel stood, hugging his dad tightly.
