New News; Demetri Alexopolous (Part 24)
"She's coming back in a week!" exclaimed Demetri, excitedly as he raced up to his friends in the West Valley high cafeteria.
All of them just stared back at him, confused.
"He's talking about Yasmine," explained Eli as he cleared his and Moon's food trays.
"Oh, that's great ne\ews," smiled Moon.
"Thanks! People were actually starting to doubt that I actually had a girlfriend," scoffed Demetri, sourily dropping down into a plastic chair next to Sam.
She'd only been his girlfriend for six months, two hours, five minutes and thirty seconds (he'd been counting since the day they first kissed, just in case it didn't last), but he already missed her.
I've missed her lavender scented perfume the most.
"I was just saying that I never "knew" you were dating her," sighed Chris.
"They went to prom together," added Sam.
Chris just shrugged before scooping the last bite out of his chocolate pudding cup.
"I mean, if they can date two of the hottest girls in school then, anything's possible," commented Devon, sarcastically as he gestured towards Bert and Nathaniel whose lips were currently locked tightly against two cheerleaders'.
"Yeah, I'm still not sure that's actually happening," stated Chris.
Everyone at their table just laughed.
"So, are you still coming over to my house after school for some college essay studying?" Demetri asked Eli as he quickly devoured the other half of Eli's turkey sandwich before the bell rang for the next period.
"Of course," answered Eli, enthusiastically as he high-fived Demetri before sitting back down.
"Isn't it a little early to be planning for college?" questioned Mitch, skeptically.
Early? I started planning for college when I was eleven! Granted, it was because I didn't have much of any social events on my calender, but still!
"The semester ends in less than a year," commented Sam as she closed up her physics book and put it in her pink school bag.
"Well, we've been planning our college years since we were eleven years old," smiled Demetri, thoughtfully.
He remembered it like it was yesterday. He was sitting in his rolling desk chair and Eli was lying on his back on top of Demetri's Superman themed bed. They'd joked about what career they both wanted, Demetri had said business mogul (because then he'd get all the girls, even if they only dated him because he was rich) and Eli had said wizard (to be fair, they were only eleven and he really liked Harry Potter).
Rinnnngggg! Blared the school bell.
Is it just me or does it get louder each time it chimes?
"I'm off for homeroom," said Sam, waving goodbye to her friends as she grabbed her bag and walked out of the cafeteria with a bunch of other hurrying students.
One by one, the group dispersed until only Eli and Demetri were left at the table.
"If you have a second, I have something really important to talk to you about," whispered Demetri, inconspicuously.
Maybe the whispering was a bit dramatic considering there was basically no one around but still, it felt necessary.
"Shoot," nodded Eli as he slung his backpack over his shoulder and walked alongside his friend towards their calculus classroom.
"Remember, a few weeks ago when I told you Terry Silver's data record was wiped almost completely clean?"
Eli nodded.
"Well, I did some "extra" digging and found out how he's related to Sensei Kreese. They both fought in the Vietnam War."
"Seriously? I always knew Kreese was an army veteran, but I never would have guessed that Silver was too. Guess that's the way he wanted it, though," reasoned Eli.
"And on top of that, apparently Sensei Kreese has recently gone to jail."
"Wow, that's a big twist. What do you think Silver's planning without him then?" questioned Eli, uncertainly.
It's scary just thinking about what he could be planning.
"I don't know. I just wish there was some way for us to find the actual files from his past then, maybe we'd be able to help Mr. LaRusso more," sighed Demetri, longingly.
It's not like that would EVER happen, though.
But when he turned over to see if Eli agreed with him, he saw a grin forming on his face.
That can't be good.
"Don't tell me you're actually thinking about doing something about this," said Demetri, worriedly.
"You just said we should do something to help," retorted Eli.
"I wasn't being serious!" exclaimed Demetri, throwing his arms down.
"But I know where he keeps all his records."
"And where is that?"
"In a filing cabinet in his office at a new dojo," answered Eli, quietly.
I don't even want to know how he knows that.
"You want to break into the Cobra Kai dojo and search through Terry Silver's, who I might add, is the scariest man I've ever met, office!"
"I know it sounds crazy, but if it helps Miyagi-Do then, maybe we should do it."
Demetri just stared at him, a blank expression on his face.
On one hand, there's the fact that it scares me out of my mind to even think about running into John Kreese, especially if Mr. LaRusso isn't there, but on the other hand, Eli does have a point. Maybe we could find out some "real" information on Terry Silver's history with Kreese.
"Fine, but just to set the record straight, if we die, you talked me into this," conceded Demetri.
