S3E8 The good, the bad and the badass
Daniel stood before the Miyagi-Do students. "I know it's been a while since our last class. After the fight at the school I wasn't sure if Miyagi-Do should state open. But things have gotten worse since we shut down, that's why we're back. The only way to stop cobra kai is if we all work together but remember the reason we learn karate is..."
Johnny was standing in the park with Eagle Fang Karate. "The reason we learn is to show the world that you're not a bunch of pansy-ass nerds. We're going to show them that we are tough. Because eagles don't get shit on, they're the ones that do the shitting." He said making Miguel laugh softly. "Just don't forget, being a badass doesn't mean being an asshole. The goal isn't to hurt other kids, the goal is..."
Kreese stood before the Cobra Kai talking. "Win at all costs. Those we thought to be our allies have turned against us. Now our enemies are attacking us from all sides. There is no turning back. Now is the time to show them..."
Daniel looked at his students. "Forgiveness, compassion. Mr. Miyagi used to say if you're looking for revenge, you could start by digging two graves. He was right, if you have hate in your heart, then you've already lost. I know it's not easy, but you have to do whatever you can.."
"To beat the living crap out of em." Johnny said, the students exhale sharply as they punched. "Don't let them push you around. You gotta swoop down like an eagle, grab em with your claws and sink your fangs into em. But I don't ever want you to start the fight. I just want you to.."
"Finish it!" Kreese said in his booming voice, his eyes hard. "For good." The Cobra Kai students were practicing punching. "Do I make my self clear?"
The students from all three groups answered with "Yes, Sensei." Making their teachers smile.
Johnny went to the juvenile corrections center. He pressed the buzzer and tried to open the door which didn't budge no matter how much he shook it. "It's locked. They'll buzz it open when he's on his way out." Daniel said as he walked up. "You gotta be kidding they called you?" Johnny said with disbelief as he turned to face the man. "I called them. With Shannon still in rehab I wanted to make sure someone was here to pick him up."
"Well I'm here, aren't I?" Johnny had a defensive stance as he stopped walking once the door was behind him. "I'm not looking for any trouble. I'm just here for Robby." Daniel said, trying to calm him. "Robby doesn't need you here. You've done enough. Thank you. Goodbye." Johnny made a gesture for Daniel to leave. "You got it all under control?"
"Yeah, I do." Johnny said confidently agenda firmly. Daniel looked at him. "Just like you had Kreese under control, right?" He asked. "What did you think would happen summoning that devil back to Earth?" His face held his disgust.
"Kreese is my problem." Johnny told Daniel, gesturing to himself. "Not anymore. He's made it crystal clear that he is everyone's problem. As usual, I'm gonna have to be the one that's gonna clean up your mess." Johnny's blue eyes snapped back up, cold as twin pools of ice. "I clean up my own messes and I'm dealing with it." He moved to where he stood right in front of Daniel. "How exactly are you dealing with it? Gonna barge in there and beat him up? That worked out really great at the chop shop." Daniel said. Johnny narrowed his blue eyes. "Those guys deserved it." He said in a rough voice. "That's your problem, Johnny. Your whole life you've been striking first. You never once considered maybe you should think first."
"You know what I'm thinking now?" Johnny took a step closer. "Yeah, I got a pretty good idea." The two were glaring at each other.
"Seriously?" Robby asked in shock and disgust at the two men. "Robby." Daniel said quickly as they looked over. "Hey, Robby." Johnny gave his son a smile. "I told you I don't want you here." Robby said, looking at Johnny. "You're my son. I wanted to be here." Johnny told him in a fairly soft voice. "And so did I." Daniel added in right after Johnny. Robby turned his glare to Daniel. "Don't do me any favors. It's your fault I was here." He glanced back at the center. "Listen I know you're upset, but I was found what was best for you." Robby rolled his eyes before looking back at Daniel. "Now that you're out, or just want you to know I'm here. You always have a home at Miyagi-Do."
"Or with me." Johnny said, stepping forward his eyes staying on his son. Robby glanced between them. "Both of you...stay out of my life." He said before pushing past them. "Robby." Johnny tried to get his attention but Robby kept walking, going into the rain. "Robby!" Daniel called after him.
Miguel was walking through the halls of the Night school, walking past Eli and a few others. Eli and Miguel locked eyes, both losing there smiles but there was no anger in their looks just disappointment. Sam bumped into Miguel. "Oh, I'm s-" She started when Miguel cut her off. "I'm sorry Sam.' He said as he looked at the girl. "No, I should've been watching where I was going." She said in a rushed tone. "Me too." Miguel answered, smiling a bit. Sam gave a nervous sounding chuckle. "So,uh, congratulations on being back on your feet! Literally." Sam smiled brightly to him with a small chuckle. "Thanks." Miguel smiled at her.
"Anyway, I'll let you get back to your friends." She gestured to the Cobra Kai boys. "They're not my friends anymore. Not after what they did to you guys." He told her in a soft voice. Sam had a pleasantly shocked look on her face. Her lips curling into a smile. "I should probably get to study hall." Miguel told her after a moment of silence. "I'm actually headed that way too." Sam said with a small giggle. "Okay." Miguel smiled. The two walking together
Johnny was holding a Frisbee for them to kick. Bert knocking it out of his hand. "Great job Bert, remind me not to piss you off. Assface, you're next." Mitch walked up, looking at Johnny. "Dose my Nickname have to carry over from the previous dojo?' He asked with a sigh. Johnny looked at him. "Do you want to be Penis Breath?" He asked him. Mitch's face fell before he simply said. "Assface is fine." He got into his stance, doing a spinning kick and knocking it away. "Good, Penis Breath." Johnny said with a clap.
"All right, Diaz, you're up." Johnny gestured to Miguel to come forward. Miguel walked forward. "Imagine this is the guy I stole this Frisbee from, all right?" Johnny asked as he held up the Frisbee. "Just picture his stupid white dreads." Johnny held it out. Miguel got into stance but had a nervous look on his face. Miguel moved slow and weak. "All right, good hustle. Who's next?" Johnny asked. He knew Miguel was doing his best so he wasn't going to push him. "No, I can do it, Sensei." Miguel said in a strong voice. "Miguel, it's fine." Johnny said in a softer tone.
"I got it." Miguel said again. Johnny nods some. "All right. Get in a side stance. Use the balls of your feet." Johnny held out the Frisbee and Miguel got ready. Miguel moved faster this time before falling to the ground with a grunt. "Miguel!" Johnny moved towards him with concern as did the others. "I'm fine." Miguel said but everyone was still trying to help him. "I'm fine!" He repeated with more force. Miguel pushed himself up. "All right, everybody. Take five, go get some water. But not from the fountain I saw some meth head wipe his ass in it." He told the group. Everyone walking away but Miguel.
Mitch's phone beeped. "You gotta be shitting me!" He exclaimed catching Miguel and Johnny's attention. "What happened?" Miguel asked him. "They cancelled the All Valley." Miguel looked shocked and turned towards Johnny. "They did what?!"
Miguel looked at Johnny in disbelief they were at Reseda. "You said you'd always be by my side." He said in a sad voice as he turned and headed towards his house, leaving Johnny behind.
Robby walked into the office. "Hey, I'm Robby Keene." The woman behind the desk didn't even look over as she pushed paper work towards him. "Follow these out, we'll call your name when a probation officer is ready to see you." He gave a small nod and grabbed the clipboard, going over to a chair. The door opened and Tory walked out. Robby looked over at her. He got up in a quick movements. "Yeah, go ahead. They'll send you straight back to juvie." She said, glancing towards the two women. He slowly relaxed his hands, his eyes glaring into her. "Looks like we're in the same boat." She said. "Thanks to you for starting the fight." His voice was a low rasp. "And you for finishing it." She countered. "It's not fair you know. Everyone else got to go back to normal, but here we are eating shit while your girlfri-" Tory was speaking in a low voice. "Don't talk about Sam." He said, voice raising. "She cheated on you."
"She made a mistake. Sam is a good person." He told her in a stern voice. "Yeah. She sure acts like it. Just wait, she'll turn on you. Just like Miguel." Tory warned him. Robby shook his head. "You don't know what you're talking about."
"Then why are we both here?" Tory asked him. "At least I know who I am. You're still pretending to be something you're not." He just looked at her. Tory started to walk. "One the section about home life just check off stable. They don't care. They never come to check." She told him before leaving.
They were at a county meeting trying to get the All Valley back on. Johnny sitting two seats away from where Daniel, Sam and Amanda. "Next week will hear appeals for the cancellation of the All Valley under 18 karate tournament. Who would like to speak first?" The chairwoman asked. Johnny and Daniel both stood up going opposite directions, John Kreese standing up in the front. "Ladies and gentlemen, I'm retired army captain John Kreese." He said. "Thank you for your service." The woman lacked emotion. Johnny and Daniel had to take seats in the front row. "It was a honor to serve and I continue serving right here in our community. By teaching our kids strength and discipline through karate. I was devastated to hear about the cancellation of the tournament because of the fight at the high school. Why are my students being penalized because of the violence perpetrated by dojos like Miyagi-Do?" Kreese turned his eyes towards Daniel. Daniel moved forward. "Now, wait just one minute." The chairwoman silenced him before turning back to Kreese, letting him continue his speech of lies.
Sam and Miguel sat in Miyagi-Do, the darkness around them as they sat on the deck drinking a beer. Miguel looked around. "This place is crazy, what's the rock say?" He asked her. She looked over. "I don't know. My dad won't tell me.,.or maybe he doesn't know." She chuckled. "Well it's a cool rock. All we have is vandalized park benches and regular boring rocks."
"You know you're welcome to train here anytime." She told him. "I mean, don't get me wrong it's a cool yard, but do you guys actually do karate here?" He asked sassily. "It looks like breathing exercises!"
"Oh, it's not badass enough for you?" Sam asked with a soft laugh. Miguel looked at him. "We train in junkyards and cement trucks!" He said in a voice trying to get his point across. "And I've trained in that pond over there." She gestured making him chuckle. "Oh, a pond."
"Not everything in Miyagi-Do is what it seems." She said with a wide smile. "Yeah okay." Miguel said, Sam hitting his shoulder. He looked at her. "Okay. You looking to take on the champ?" He asked as he got up and walked onto the grass. Sam got up and walked over. "I seem to remember flipping you on the ground with surprisingly little effort." She countered.
"Ok, well, let's see you do it again. Don't hold back." He said in a cocky manner. She got into position. "I wouldn't worry about it." She smiled. Miguel smiled some with mock shock on his face. The two starting to spar.
She got him in a arm lock, she was a arms length away from him. Her fingers brushing his neck . "Got you." She whispered. Miguel quickly changed it, him holding her to him now in almost a headlock. "Got you." He said softly. The two looking at each other arwaylmosttnd not noticing Robby who stood in the building part of the dojo. "Should've known." He said in a flat tone, catching their attention. Sam and Miguel quickly separating and facing him. "Robby!" Sam said in shock, not expecting him. "It's not what you think." She said, instantly trying to defend herself as Robby moved outside. "So you two get together the second I was gone or wait a week to make it look good?" He asked, not as ounce of emotion on his face or in his voice.
"It's not like that.." Sam whispered. He turned his glare towards Miguel. "At least now I know why you stopped writing."
"I stopped writing because you never answered!" Sam said defensively. "Well, it's kinda hard to write back in between getting my face busted in!" He raised his voice. "I didn't know." Sam said in a soft, quiet voice. "You wouldn't have cared if you did." Robby said with a bitterness that was valid. "It's not her fault." Miguel said in a rough voice. Robby pointed at him. "Stay out of this!"
"I don't think I will." Miguel said walking up. Robby looked at him with cold eyes. "I was hoping you'd say that." Sam looked between the two. Robby went to punch Miguel but Sam caught his arm, shoving him back way rougher then necessary. "Robby, don't!" She said in a loud tone. Robby looked between the two. "You two deserve each other." He said before turning to leave.
Kreese was hanging up a 51th annual karate championships from the All Valley. The bell chimed, Robby walking in. "Sensei Kreese?" Robby asked, causing the man to smirk
