S2E6 Take a right
Daniel sighed, looking at the mess t hat was made. He sighed before he started to clean up the back yard area.
All the students of Cobra Kai were doing squat thrusts, breathing heavily. "This would all be over in a instant. The decision is yours." Johnny yelled said as he walked along the side of them. "Who trashed Miyagi dojo?" No one answered the man, "You all know I'm not fan of Larusso's but that kind of bullshit we do the teach here, at least not any more." He cast a glance at Kreese who looked right back. "So I'm going to ask you one more time, who trashed Miyagi-Do?"
"It want me, Sensei." Raymond said, panting. "I would never disrespect another man's dojo." Johnny looked over at him. "Shut your cake hole, Chubs." Johnny said in a loud, stern voice. "I'm not looking for excuses, I'm looking for answers." Miguel looked at him, breathing heavily. "Sensei we're really don't know who did it." He said. "Someone knows something." Kreese said, eyes scanning the crowd. "The question is, who's gonna break?" He looked directly at Eli when he said that. The phone started ringing, drawing Johnny away from the students.
Mitch approached Kreese. "Sensei we're need a water break." He panted. Kreese looked at all the students. "Two minute break." He announced loudly to them. They all moved to the side to get water. "Get your bearings." He told them. Eli walked up to Kreese. "I think I should tell Sensei Lawrence that I did it." He told the man of a low voice. "Says nothing, I'll handle it." Kreese told the now confused boy. Eli bowed to him before going to get water. "I got to go handle something? Do you think you can man the fort?" Johnny asked Kreese. "Of course." The man replied. "I want you to figure out who it was. Do what you gotta do." Kreese looked over at him. "Don't worry. I will." Johnny nods some before leaving.
Robby, Sam and Demetri were trying to lift up a large stone that was tipped over. They were struggling. "Listen, about the other night.." Robby started when Sam cut him off. "Nothing happened. So there's no reason to feel uncomfortable, right?" She looked over at him. "Right. Exactly." He nods sadly. Demetri stood back up as did the other two. "Are you two lifting up? Because I feel like I'm doing nothing." Demetri said tiredly. "Just forget it. It's to heavy. We're going to need a forklift." Robby said, planting his hands on his hips. "How'd they even knock it over anyway?" Sam looked at the large rock. "It's much easier to knock something down then it is to lift it up." Daniel told them, looking over. "Don't worry we'll get it up again."
"Um, excuse me. Is this Miyagi-Do?" Chris asked as him and the others walked in. "Yeah." Daniel said, standing up. Robby was striding towards Chris. "Why come back for another beating?" His face was angry. "Hey Robby! Robby!" Daniel said trying to calm the boy down some. "This is one of the guys who was beating on Demetri, probably helped trash the dojo." Robby glared at him some. "We had nothing to do with that. But I am sorry with what happened at the mall." Chris said looking at Robby, his voice sincere. "I just want to learn Miyagi-Do karate."
"I'd be careful about that Mr. L, letting Cobra Kai into Miyagi-Do. It's like letting the wildlings behind the Wall." Demetri told him. Daniel looked at the boy. "Didn't the wildlings help Jon Snow win the Battle of the Bastards?" Demetri looked away in thought. "Should have picked a different analogy." Daniel looked back at Chris and the others. "We are happy to have you," He said with a smile on his face.
Johnny went to hospital a few towns over. He got out of the elevator. He walked up to the desk. "I'm looking for a friend." His voice was quite. "Johnny." A man said from beside him and Johnny looked over. "Bobby, hey man." The two did a quick hug. "It's been a long time." Johnny said. Bobby looked at him. "Yeah, you look good man. A few more wrinkles but not bad." He was smiling teasingly at his old friend. "Oh yeah, what about you? With all that preaching and praying you'd think you would get back some of that hair." Johnny fired back, a small smile on his face. "Yeah but unfortunately God doesn't work that way." Bobby said with a small laugh. Johnny chuckled a bit. "But I've definitely been doing a lot of praying since..you know." Bobby looked back at hospital room. "Yeah. How's he doing?" Johnny asked, glancing over there. Bobby didn't answer for a bit. "He'll be happy to see you Johnny. Room 122."
Johnny walked down the hall and paused at the door. His friend was lying there on the hospital bed, a hundred emotions crashed into him. "You're watching soccer, it's worse then I thought." Johnny said catching his attention. He looked over and smiled at him. "Johnny. You didn't have to come all the way out here." He turned off the tv, "Yeah? Were you going to come see me?" Johnny asked as he got to tell bed side. "Yeah. Right." He chuckled. Johnny lost his smile as he looked him over. "Does it hurt?" He asked. He shook his head. "Nah, the meds do their job." Bobby was now leaning against the door frame. "Oh. Did you see? They already got me a priest." Bobby chuckled some. "I'm a pastor Tommy. But if you want to confess about that 50 bucks you still owe me, the Big Guy's listening." Bobby walked to the foot of the bed. Tommy laughed before the laughter turned to coughing.
Bobby and Johnny stopped smiling instantly. "You're gonna fight this." Johnny said. Tommy turned his eyes to him. "Nah. That parts done, it's in here now." He pointed at his head. "Besides you were always the better fighter." Johnny looked at him. "Bullshit. Remember that tournament in 83. You beat Vidal to get to the semies." He turned his blue eyes towards Bobby then back to Tommy. "Yeah. Who beat me in the finals?" Tommy asked making Johnny huff a small laugh. "All right. Yeah but you didn't make it easy on me." He said. Tommy smiled up at him. "Yes hon, I know. I love you too." A man said on the phone as he walked into the room and sat flowers on the desk. All three looked over at him with small smiles. "Gotta go bye." He hung up as Bobby went over to hug him. "Hey, sorry I'm late." He apologized. "Hey Jimmy." Bobby said happily.
"Hey." Jonny said, looking over at him. Jimmy hugged him before clasping hands with Tommy. "Jen and the kids send their love." He told him. "Aw. Tell Jen and the boys I said hi." Tommy smiled. A nurse walked into the room. "Oh, you again." He said with a sigh. "Guys give me a minute." The three men filed out of the room and into the hallway.
"I talked to the doc. He said he could sign out for 24 hours but I don't know." Jimmy said, glancing towards the hospital room. "Is he even going to be able to make it to the car?" Johnny looked between Jimmy and Bobby. "What are you talking about?" He asked curiously. Jimmy looked over at Bobby. "You didn't tell him?"
"Tell me what?" Johnny turned his gaze to Bobby now. "We can't let Tommy rot in this place. He deserves better." Bobby said, glancing at a nurse as she passed making sure she didn't overhear them. "What did you have in mind?" Johnny asked, he would do anything for his friend. "Road trip, give the guy a wild night he will remember." Bobby replied. Bobby and Jimmy had small smiles. "I don't know man...in his condition.." That was as far as Johnny got before they heard the flatline.
The three rushed into the room to see Tommy sitting up in his bed, taking off all the wires. "Let's get the hell out of here." He said with a smile and a laugh.
The Cobra Kai students were doing various exercises. "Keep going, I have all day." Kreese said as he walked among them, some were on the ropes, some lifting weights and others doing push ups. "Do you think it's okay if I puke in here?" Raymond asked Aisha. "No." She said disgusted. "Navy seals puke all the time." He was breathing heavily, "Don't puke." Her voice was stern. "He's nit going to let up, we need to figure out who did it." Miguel said to Tory, his words coming out in pants. "I bet it was shit-breath." She said. Mitch got up. "Screw you." Tory stopped and moved towards him. "What did you say?" Her voice was rough. "Want to go right now?" Mitch asked. The two were angry and about to fight but Miguel moved between them. "Stop." Kreese said "Would you really like to know who it was? It was Hawk." Eli looked up, everyone turning to look at him. "And it was Diaz and Robinson. It was Nicholas, Chubs, Red. When one of you move, all of you move. You live and you die. With the consequences and the spoils, because you are all Cobra kia." Kreese told them. "Main dojo, five minutes. You are all about to begin your real training."
Johnny, Bobby, Tommy and Jimmy were all on motorcycles, sharing glances and smiles as the engines revved. "Let's ride." Johnny said, each one pulled on a mask to cover their mouths and noses. Each one was a different skeleton shape. They started the trip, through the beautiful fall colored trees. They drove over a bridge. 'Big Bear Lake' The sign read as they passed.
They pulled into a bar. "And then there was that time Tommy got that horrible fake id and the waitress gave us dishwater." Bobby said with a smile on his face. "And I drank the whole thing because I didn't know what beer was supposed to taste like." Tommy was laughing, making the group laugh. "I remember that." Johnny smiled, pouring himself another drink. "We made up for that next weekend, remember?" Johnny asked as he sat down. "Dutch got so hammered, he stole the dartboard." Jim,u chuckled. Bobby swallowed his beer before correcting him. "No he didn't steal it. He smashed it. That was the first time he went to juvie, remember?"
"Oh yeah." Jimmy laughed. "I got so wasted that night I missed Ali's birthday." Johnny commented. Bobby looked over at him . "Oh yeah. I remember that, she really reamed you out." Johnny picked up his beer. "She did more then that. She dumped my ass." His smile fell.
Tommy looked over at him. "Well that's her loss, huh?" Johnny nodded. "So, Dutch, he's still up at Lompoc?" Bobby nods. "Yeah as far as I know." Johnny raised his glass. "To Dutch, when the judge said five to ten." Bobby chuckled. "When she really meant ten to twenty." The four clinked their glasses together, chuckling. "What about you Johnny? Last I heard you were laying bricks." Jimmy said. "I wasn't laying bricks, maybe some light sacco. I actually opened a karate dojo." He told them. Everyone's smiles fell some. "For real?" Bobby asked shocked. Johnny nodded. "Yeah, it's over in Reseda. It's actually doing pretty well, lots of good kids." He glanced at his friends. "What's it called?" Tommy asked.
"It's called Cobra Kai." Johnny was looking into his mug. "You brought back Cobra Kai? " Bobby asked shocked. "Yeah, that's not all that's back." He sipped his beer. The other three shared a look.
"Combat." Kreese said. Tory and Mitch were sparring. Tory kicked him in the stomach, making him go to his knees. "Hit him again." Kreese said even though she got the point. Tory looked over at the man like he was crazy. "Do you have a problem with that? The fight isn't over until your enemy is finished. You show your enemy no mercy." Kreese said as he took a slight step forward. Tory walked towards Mitch, about to finish him. "Wait!" Miguel called, making the girl stop. "This isn't what Sensei Lawrence has been teaching us." He looked over at Kreese. "Excuse me?" The older man asked, venom in his tone. "There is no honor in being merciless. Tory scored a point. It's over." Miguel's voice was stern as he looked at the man, he didn't look scared at all. "Sensei Lawrence is right, of course. The tournament stops when you score a point, but in the real world it isn't about scoring points." Kreese said as he walked towards Miguel. "It's about being a winner or a loser. And there's no losers in this dojo." Miguel and Kreese stared at each other, Miguel refusing to back down.
Robby and Sam were working on repoting a plant that was broken. Robby looked off to the side where some Cobra Kai students where. "I can't believe your dad let them in here." He said, lowly. Sam looked over. "He wants to help them change."
"They won't. Can't change what you feel." Robby said, looking over at the plant, not aware of the intense look Sam was giving him.
Chris was trying to lift the stone to no avail. "Sorry to tell ya but brute strength will only get you so far." Demetri said, his arms crossed over his chest. Chris stopped and looked over at him. "Well you got a better idea, smart-ass?"
"Have you ever heard of a fulcrum?" Demetri asked, Chris didn't answer just looking at him. "I didn't think so. If you payed attention in physics you would know that a fulcrum is a pivot point that decreases the amount of output force required to lift a object." Demetri explained as he put a wooden shafts under the rock. "Watch and learn." Demetri started pushing down on the board, only for it to break. Chris laughed. "Fulcrum? More like full of crap." He lightly patted Demetri's shoulder. Demetri threw down the board. "The only thing full of crap is you and your little quiver over there. Just admit it, you never wanted to join Miyagi-Do. This is all just a scheme." He was getting into Chris's face. "Are you calling me a liar?" Chris asked angrily. "Ding, ding, ding." Demetri replied.
Chris shoved the boy back. Demetri fell to the ground. "Demetri, Demetri are you okay?" Sam asked hurrying over. Robby walked towards Chris, ready to fight. "Hey hey! Calm down, we're on the same team now!" Daniel said rushing over. "I don't think so. Once a Cobra kai, always a Cobra kai." Robby said, glaring at the boy. "That's not true. I know that's now true because..." Daniel trailed off making Robby look over at him. "Because I used to be in Cobra Kai." Robby looked stunned.
"That is the stupidest thing I've ever heard." Jimmy said. "It's not stupid." Johnny tried to defend. "John Kreese is bad news. All that crap we delta with after high school. Taking that 'no mercy' bullshit out into the world." Bobby was anger. "You got it the worst man, don't you remember?"
"Of course I remember, but people can change. Like Cobra Kai can change." Johnny glared around the table. "Yeah right." Jimmy huffed. "It's true. I'm trying to change Cobra Kai and Kreese is on board." Johnny told his friends. Tommy was looking at him. "Do you trust him, Johnny?" He asked. Bobby took a sip of his drink. "You know Kreese, he's always got something up his sleeve." Johnny looked over at Bobby. "Nah, he's a different man. Doesn't it say something in your book about forgiveness? All I know is that ever ones deserves a second chance."
"You know what I think? I think I want to play some pool." Tommy said. "Who wants to play so pool with me?" Johnny smiled. "Sure, I'll play some pool with you Tommy. Let's go get a table." He said, standing up.
The two got over there. A man was harassing a woman "Is there something I can help you with boss?" A man asked very rudely. "Yeah we got next." Johnny nodded towards the pool table. "Man that's the ugliest make-a-wish kid I've ever seen. I'll tell you what. Here's my wish, you can suck my." But that was as far as he got, he put his hand on Johnny's shoulder which was a mistake. Johnny grabbed his arm, jerking it, a bone crunching was heard as the man cried in pain and Johnny shoved him to the ground. The people around them gasped in shock. The man stood up and put a hand against his head, a look of outrage on his face. He swung at Johnny which Johnny blocked easily. That's when the fight broke out random men vs the original Cobra Kai boys. The woman from earlier slid a glass towards Johnny, which he broke over the guy's head. "Thank you." He nodded to her. They had won the fight.
"Cobra kia sells power, it sells strength. And when I joined..I was weak." Daniel was telling them, all the students new and old were in the dojo. "It was 1985. I had just won my first All Valley and Mr. Miyagi didn't want me to compete anymore. He never liked the idea of fighting for trophies anyway. So he and I got into this big argument. So what did I do? I joined Cobra Kai, I learned to strike first, strike hard, no mercy. It turned me into a angry and violent kid. It changed me." Daniel sighed. "You never told me any of this." Sam said, some shock and hurt in her voice that her father would keep this from her. He looked over at his daughter. "It's not something I'm proud of Sam. My point is anyone can be seduced by Cobra Kai, even me. I'll admit it does make you feel stronger, tougher, but it will also get you into trouble. And that's what happened to me, I was just lucky Mr. Miyagi was willing to take me back." He turned to look at the photo on the wall. "So remember it doesn't matter who anyone was before they stepped into this dojo cause all that matters is right now, today, we are all Miyagi-Do."
Chris and Demetri were at the rock, both holding bamboo sticks, under the rock. "Okay let's both try this fulcrum thing." Chris said, everyone else was around watching them. "Together on three. One, two, three." Demetri counted before the two pushed down on the sticks. The rock lifting. Chris moved first to grab the front then Demetri joined him. They got it up with a struggle. "Good job guys. You see as as team, anything is possible." Daniel said proudly. Demetri turned to Chris and the two high-fived.
It was night, Johnny and Tommy were sitting on logs by the campfire. "Today was fun, Johnny." Tommy said happily. Johnny took a sip of beer before looking at him. "Yeah. You still got some moves, man. You should stop by the dojo sometime." He told him. "Yeah. Right. Just like the good old days." Tommy laughed before looking good back at the fire, his face falling some. "Man, where did all that time go?"
"I don't know." Johnny answered in a quite voice. "Man, there was something I never told you." Tommy said. "Didn't think you needed to know, but screw it. I was in love with Ali." He looked over at his blonde friend. Johnny looked at him. "What?" He asked with a slight chuckle. "Yeah. Freshman year, we had homeroom together. We used to talk all the time. I was getting up the courage to ask her out when someone else struck first. That's why I joined Cobra Kai. I wanted the balls you had..without the smell." He threw in teasingly. Both men laughing.
"I don't think I ever really got over her. I mean, I dated plenty of babes after wards but I never let my guard down, not like with Ali." Johnny said. Tommy glanced over at him. "You still have something that is more important then anything, Johnny." He said. Johnny looked at his friend. "What's that?" He asked, voice soft. "Time." Tommy looked over at him. "You still have time." A sad look fell upon Johnny's face. "Yeah. Time for what?" He looked away and took a long sip of his beer. "To find someone new, change your life. Do what you wanna do."
"I don't know. All I want to do is make sure my students don't make the same mistakes that we did. I do this want them to look back at their life full of regret." He said sincerely. "You'll do it, Johnny. You're the champ." Tommy said, giving him a small smile. Johnny reached over and gave his shoulder and squeeze.
Johnny was still asleep. "Tommy.." The choked voice of Jimmy said. "Tommy, wake up!" He called. "Wake up, Tommy, come on." Bobby said in a sad, rough voice. That's what woke Johnny up. He got to his feet quickly and looked over seeing Jimmy and Bobby around Tommy, Bobby listening for and heartbeat. "Don't do this, wake up Tommy." Jimmy said. Bobby hit Tommy's chest some, trying to get him to wake before falling back, tears streaming down his face. "Come on Tommy!" Johnny yelled shaking him. Jimmy ran down when he saw the ambulance. They rushed up, getting Tommy on a gurney. The three were huddled together, tears running down their faces. One EMS worker was checking for a pulse before shaking his head. They zipped Tommy up in a bodybag.
"Cobra kia is not a hobby, it's not a club." Kreese said, walking among the students. "Cobra kia is your brothers and your sisters. You are all Cobra kia for life, because Cobra Kai never dies."
