S2E3 Fire and ice

Demetri and Eli stood on opposite sides of the volleyball net. Demetri tried to hit the volleyball, that had the Cobra Kai  logo on it, over the net but failed. "Mulligan send it back." Demetri said. Eli rolled his eyes. "There are no mulligans in volleyball." He told his friend. "Says you. Water break." Eli gave Demetri a look as he walked away, grabbing a cobra kai towel to wipe his face off. Two girls where passing. "Cobra kia? You guys won that tournament right? " one asked, looking at Demetri. He looked at them with a moments hesitation. "The All Valley...the Rumble in Reseda? Um yeah, yeah we did." He leaned against the post for the net. "Cool. We're going for a swim but maybe play with you later?" She asked him. "Most def. That means most definitely." He said, making the two girls giggle.

"There you go player." Moon smiled at Demetri. "Yeah it would be nice if you actually earned the Cobra Kai cred you are so happy to take. When are you going to sign up anyway?" Eli asked, walking closer to him. "I don't know. I'm kinda enjoying the gain without the pain." Demetri said, stammering slightly. "Hawk." Miguel's voice caught his attention. "Hey there's the man." Eli walked up to Miguel. "What's up?" His voice was gloomy. "No. No more if this. It's a beautiful day, the beach is packed with babes. No more sulking about Sam." His voice was stern. "I'm not sulking about Sam. It's about Sensei." He looked at Eli, same sad tone in voice. "Is this about his rap sheet? My parents read it online. I think it makes him more badass." Miguel glanced to the side before looking back at him. "It's about him and Robby Keene." He said, Eli's face falling into one of confusion.

Miguel and Eli were stretching. "I did a deep-dive online. You were right, Sensei is definitely Keene's father." Eli told him, his voice somewhat low. Miguel sighed and shook his head. "I just don't get why he didn't tell us." He looked over at his friend. "I don't know but it explains why he was giving us shit about kicking Keene's ass in the tournament. Show no mercy, unless it's his son. Then we have to be p*****s" Eli's voice started to edge anger. Aisha walked over to the two boys. "Have you guys seen the commercial?" She asked. When they didn't answer and just looked confused she said. "Sam's dad started his own dojo. And he disses Cobra Kai." She held out her phone which Miguel snatched to watch the video.

Robby and Sam where sparring in the back, blocking and punching and kicking. Sam landed a punch against his ribs. "Remember, keep moving in a circle." Sam told him. He pushed his hair back. "You know I did make it to the All Valley finals." He said with a soft smile. "That's just because you didn't have to go through me." She smiled at him. The two chuckled. "Listen, I want to thank you." He said. Sam looked at him. "For what?"
"Last week I had no hot water. This week, there's a jacuzzi in my backyard." He smiled at her. "I wouldn't get to excited, we did find a dead possum in there." Sam smiled at him. They laughed again. "But seriously, thank you. It's been  a little rough lately and it's nice to have people looking out for you." Sam was smiling but gave a slight shrug. "That's what friends do." Her voice was soft. He shook his head lightly. "Not all friends."

"Alright guys that's enough chitchat. Let's see where you are." Daniel said, walking out of the building. Two boys were coming up the side, into the back, looking around with amazement. Sam and Robby where sparring when Daniel saw them. "We are looking for Miyagi-Do?" The one asked. Daniel smiled at them. "You're in the right place."
"And the add said lessons are free?"
"They sure are. Are you ready?" Daniel asked. The two boys smiled. "Yeah." The other nodded. "Great. There's two cans of paint in the front, the fence back here could use a fresh coat. Robby here will show ya." He said as Sam and Robby walked over. The two boy's smiles fell as they glanced around. "You want us to paint your fence?" He asked in disbelief. "Don't worry guys, it will all make sense later, trust me." Robby told them. "To fully learn Miyagi-Do karate, you have to unlearn the misconceptions about what constitutes training." Daniel was explaining. "Man I knew this was all bullshit. This is just some scan to get kids to do your yard work." He grumbled. "No, no. This is all part of the process." Daniel said, his smile falling, "Yeah "the process. My mom was right with car salesmen you always have to read the fine print.'" He said with a scoff. Daniel took a step forward. "I'm not trying to sale you anything, I'm trying to teach you karate." His voice was confused. "Come on let's go check out that place with the snake." The two left.

Johnny stood in front of the class. "There's been a lot of talk going around the Valley about free karate. But everyone knows that in life, you get what you pay for." He pointed at the students. Aisha was filming. "You really want to sick the competition?" Johnny the kicked a Bonsai tree a boy was holding, the vase shattering and dirt flying into the boy's face. "You need to get your ass over to Cobra Kai." He was now looking at the camera. "Forget that meditation shit. What you need is bone-crunching face-smashing good ol' fashion karate." He turned to a training dummy, punching it multiple times. "Forget self-defense. Learn self-offense. Don't be a p***y. Join Cobra Kai and let me teach you the way of the fist." He pointed into the camera. "And cut." Aisha said, cutting the video off. "Did we get it?" Johnny asked as he was backing up. "I think so."
"Make sure the Cobra Kai snake comes in at the end, I really want it to pop. Make it chrome and put Thunderstruck under it." Johnny said. "I think the rights to that song will cost to much." She said. "No I already own it. Cassettes in the car. Oh and out one of those hash browns after it, like "hash brown team cobra kai" or something then send it to the Internet," He said as he walked into the back room.

Eli and Miguel followed Johnny back. "Hey, Sensei can we talk to you about something?" Eli asked, the older man turning around to look at them. "If this is about the infomercial.." He started but Eli cut him off. "This isn't about the commercial. It's about Robby Keene." Johnny glanced between the two boys. "What about him?" He was good at hiding his emotions. "I saw his picture on your refrigerator. I wasn't snooping, but we know he's your son." Eli looked at Johnny. "That's why you got so mad at us after the tournament, right?" His voice was calm, his face looked more sad and betrayed then angry. There was a moment of silence as Johnny looked at them. "Is that what you think?" He asked. Miguel looked down. "Um.." He seemed at as lose first words. "Yeah, Robby's my son, but that has nothing to do with the way I run my dojo." Johnny's voice was stern now. "It's also none of your damn business. Do you understand?" Miguel sighed some and nodded. "Yeah Sensei." Eli was still looking at the older man. "But, Sensei.." Johnny cut him off. "But Sensei nothing. Now get out.  The two of you clean mats for the rest of the week." Eli sighed but bowed and left the room. Miguel took a step forward. "Something else, Mr. Diaz?" Johnny asked. Miguel looked hurt, his eyes sad. "No." His voice was barely above a whisper as he bowed and left.

It was the day of Valley Fest, the sun was starting to set casting a golden haze upon the whole thing. Robby and Sam were practicing for the demo, Daniel walking back. "Hey guys, thank you so much for doing this. How are you feeling?" He asked with a smile on his face. "I little shot notice but I think we got it." Robby told him. "Good, good." The man smiled at the two. "I was thinking for the finale I could do some kind of flip kick." Sam said, looking at her dad. "No, no. Don't worry about the finale i got something planned." He told her. Robby looked over at a wood piece with slats in it. "What's that for?" He pointed and looked back at Daniel. "That." Daniel smiled and when to the cooler, getting out a thick sheet of ice. "You'll see." Sam had a smile on her face.

Night had fallen and the acts were up, a man just finished playing the guitar. "Alright, now do I have a treat for you. Please turn your attention towards the Larusso Auto group. They have a presentation of Miyagi-Do karate." The woman said in a cheerful voice.

The crowd looked over as the presentation began, the three bowing, moving in sync. Sam and Robby where doing the same thing while Daniel did something else but it all went together well. Daniel had a Bo, swinging at Sam twice and she blocked. Then he turned to Robby. He swung it at the boy's legs but Robby avoided it by doing a roll, the crowd gasping loudly. They stood up and bowed in  finish. "Now, time for the grand finale." Daniel said pleasantly. He started pushing out a cart with six thick ice sheets that he was going to chop though. Suddenly the lights went out and some mic feedback was heard.

"Cobra Kai!" One of the students shouted as they ran down the Isle in two perfect lines, chanting their dojo name as they went. The spotlight found them. As they passed the crowd started to follow them. "What the hell is going on here?" Daniel said, watching them pass. A banner dropped above the opposite stage with the Cobra Kai logo. The students moved in perfect sync. "Cobras show them what real karate looks like!" Johnny said, standing on the side. They started sparring, some hitting the ground as the others got the better of them, the crowd cheered loudly. At the end of that Miguel was the last one standing.

Aisha was blindfolded as she kicked and punched through boards. Eli pulled Demetri onto the stage abd handed him a board. Demetri held it away from him at head level, his eyes squeezed shut. Miguel had his hands laced together and gave Eli a boost as he kicked through the board. They threw soma cobra kai merchandise into the crowd.

Johnny walked onto the stage, five cement slabs in front of him, raised off the ground. "Cobras light it up!" He shouted. Two boys walked over, one putting lighter fluid on the slabs and the other lighting them on fire. Johnny looked at them before punching through them. The crowd went wild and started chanting Cobra Kai as the students joined their Sensei on the stage again.
