Chapter 6

Loki shifted uncomfortably for what seemed like the thousandth time that day. His back was sore and his cuts had started to burn again. He glanced at the door to the containment room again, though he knew it was ridiculous. It was ridiculous to hope that the honest nurse with the blue hair would walk back through the door. Once people met Loki, they tried to avoid having to spend any more time with him.

His eyes began to close, perhaps he could get some sleep, he couldn't feel pain when he was unconscious.

The containment room door slid open and then slammed close with a loud clang. Loki glanced up, and for some reason he couldn't explain, felt a small rush of joy. Silver was towering above him, clutching her medical bag.

"Hello Loki," She said airily as she sat down next to him. "How are you feeling today?"

"Fine."

"Good. Sit up, let me see your back."

Loki did as Silver ordered, and she began dabbing ointment on his back. It was cold, Loki shivered slightly. Silver seemed to jump a little as though she'd remembered something.

"Oops! I forgot." She dug around in her medical bag and pulled out a neatly folded white shirt. "You can wear this."

Loki took the shirt from her, it was really quite boring looking. Just a simple white shirt, similar to what they wore on Midgard.

"It's white so it's easier to see if you start bleeding,"Silver stated.

"Oh Joy."

"Why would you enjoy bleeding?" Silver asked earnestly, her violet eyes wide.

Loki raised an eyebrow. "I don't. I was being sarcastic," He snapped.

Silver's face fell slightly, and Loki didn't know why but he instantly wanted to apologize. "Oh, I'm sorry. Sometimes I can't always tell if people are being serious or not."

"It's alright."

Pulling out a pad of gauze  she went to work on the long slice on Loki's cheek. She had to get close to his face to see it properly. Up close, Silver's violet eyes were even more beautiful. Loki felt a shot of revulsion run through him as soon as he'd realized he found Silver's eyes beautiful. What was he thinking? But it was true. The violet shone vividly, and her eyes were steady and focused on her task. Loki noticed that her long eyelashes were the same shade of blue as her hair, as were her eyebrows.

Silver straightened up, dropping the tube of medicine back into her bag. "I'll be back tomorrow. Try not to open up any of your cuts."

Loki watched her leave, a small part of him wishing that she had stayed longer.

---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Silver visited Loki once a day every day for the weeks that passed. As time went on, he began to look forward to her daily visits. Eagerly awaiting the time when the containment room doors would open and Silver would stalk into the room in a pair of nine inch stillettos.

They would sit and talk while Silver saw to his injuries, nothing serious, just small talk. Loki knew that Silver's favorite color was blue, that she hated spiders, that she was the oldest girl out of six siblings, that she hated getting up early in the morning, and that her roommate was a grumpy nurse named Zero.

Loki hadn't been as open as Silver, but he had shared things with her. His favorite color, his favorite places to hide as a child, his favorite book.

Before Loki realized it, he and Silver had become friends. Loki hadn't really had a good friend before. He didn't get along with most people. So he looked forward to Silver's visits and a small part of him dreaded the day she would stop walking through the door.
