Chapter 2

Silver followed the soldier, her curiosity spiking higher as she realized her was taking her down to the prisoner containment section. She didn't often get called down to treat prisoners, as her superiors often thought they weren't as high a priority as the Nova soldiers who needed Silver's attention. Normally, it was Zero who got sent down to containment. Zero was rough and brisk,  having Zero treat your injuries could be considered a form of punishment.

Nova Prime was standing outside of the containment cell, her blonde hair piled high on her head, and a look of mild distress on her usually calm face. "Ah, RavenWood, thank you for coming at such short notice."

"It's really no problem."

Nova Prime cleared her throat, "Yes, well I want you to tend to this prisoner. He's badly injured and we need him alive if we are to get information from him. You are to treat his injuries and not share any of what you see or he says to anyone. If someone asks you where you were, you will tell them that I ordered you to give me a report on the amounts of medicine your ward uses daily. Am I understood?"

"Yes Ma'am."

""Excellent, please get to work, I will leave a few Corpsmen stationed outside. Don't hesitate to call for them if you need anything."

"Understood."

Silver stepped past Nova Prime and waited while the containment room door opened. She stepped inside swiftly, her heels clicking. Nove Prime's speech had left her feeling rather apprehensive about who she would be healing.

She stepped all the way into the containment unit and heard the second set of doors slam behind her with a loud clang. Her violet eyes darted around the room, taking in her patient. She'd been expecting a grizzled war criminal. This was not it.

Her patient was a young man who appeared to be in his twenties, he had shoulder length black hair and piercing green eyes. His build was slight, and he resembled some of the forest elves Silver had treated. Slim and lythe, but deceptively strong. One of his wrists had been cuffed to a metal bar next to the cot he was collapsed on.

"Hello!" Silver said brightly, stepping forward.

The man just glared at her, his green eyes boring into her. She guessed he was used to people not wanting to meet his eyes, but she did. Violet versus Green, she refused to be the first one to break eye contact. Finally the man looked away, focusing on a spot behind Silver.

"Anyway, I'm here to treat your wounds."

"I don't require your assistance."

Silver glanced down at him and had to hold back a bitter laugh. There was a dark red spot on the left side of his armor, and it was spreading rapidly. He'd black out from blood loss from that wound alone soon. There were scratches on his face and hands, and judging by the uncomfortable way he was slouched, she was willing to bet there was worse concealed under the armor.

"The state you are in says otherwise," Silver retorted dryly.

"Why should I trust you?"

"I don't care if you do or don't. Nova Prime wants you alive." Silver prided herself on being patient, but her patience was already starting to run thin.

"Then perhaps it would be more pleasant for me to die here."

"Stop being a tool."

The man started to snap back, but suddenly gave a hiss of pain, clutching at the wound on his side. Scarlet blood seeped from beneath his long fingers.

Silver sat a metal stool down next to the bed and sat down next to the man, balancing her medical bag on her knees. "Are you ready to let me help?"

 "Fine," He snapped.

 "Excellent."
