What Happens Here Stays Here
The open expanse of the Grand Canyon is in front of me. And I'm right there. Right at the edge. I could fall over at any moment.
Just like my life.
I could just....
I could take the leap.
And then I feel the warmth behind me, the soft voice in my ear.
"Ma Cherie, it's beautiful here isn't it?"
I nod.
It is.
It really is...
He continues, even though I don't verbally respond to him. Pulling me further back towards him, so that my back is firmly pressed against his chest.
Further away from the endless abyss.
"So what's our next move Princess??"
I give a sigh. The open expanse of the canyon giving me courage.
Bravery maybe.
"Let's head towards Vegas."
Six hours later.....
Six hours later and we're pulling into the darkened City of Sin.
Las Vegas at night is as glittery as it is in my dreams. As it is in all of those television shows and Hollywood movies.
Even in my half asleep state I'm awed.
"The lights are so pretty...."
Sebastian chuckles as he drives down the Strip.
"You think this is something, you should see Paris, Mon Amour. The Eiffel Tower glitters like a jewel at night. I'd love to take you there sometime."
I sigh sleepily as he drives slowly, traffic not too bad for the late hour.
"I'd like that Bastian. Where are we going to stay, I hadn't thought to book a hotel in Vegas..."
He slows down and turns towards one of the hotels, "What about this one??"
Naturally my gorgeous, French fiancé would pick the Paris themed hotel and casino.
We gather up the few bags we'd need from the car and head into the building. I don't know how we're going to get a room at all.
Maybe I can name drop Cousin Cooper or something.
Sebastian, ever the gentleman, has our bags in his hand as we trudge up to the check in desk. There isn't really a line due to the late hour.
"Can I help you?"
She barely looks up from where she is typing on her computer keyboard as she greets us. I'm hesitant and kinda shy when I respond to her question.
"Um..... well.... we were hoping to rent a room...?"
Tap tap tap.
"What was that?"
I raise the volume of my voice and try again.
"A room. We wanted to rent one."
She sighs, disinterested. Almost like we're interrupting her by making her do her job.
"Name? Do you have a reservation?"
I'm thrown off guard but I still try to sound confident. Sebastian is, for some reason, letting me do all the talking as he stands beside me. His back against the desk.
"Um..... no reservation. But the name is Shannon... Anderson. I don't know if this matters any but my cousin in Cooper Anderson."
"You're related to Anderson Cooper?!?!"
Her eyes are bright blue, excited, as she stops typing on the keys and looks up at me. Slowly I shake my head in response.
"No Cooper Anderson, of the credit score commercials."
Oh.....
Sebastian grabs my hand as he pushed back off the desk, turning to face me.
"Princess, lets just try someplace else. They CLEARLY don't want to help us here."
I'm sorry Sebby....
Defeated I start to turn away from the desk, not getting very far away before I hear it.
WAIT!!
Slowly both Sebastian and I turn back to the desk, where the woman at the desk is blushing slightly. Acting almost bashful.
"Mr Gustin.... I'm so sorry. My family and I love your show. Let me see if I can find a room for the two of you."
Mr Gustin? Does she really think that he's Grant Gustin??
Sebastian and I glance at each other and he just shrugs. Rolling his shoulders back, he straightens himself out, standing to his full height as he faces her.
He flashes her a blinding smile as he squeezes my hand. Cordially replying to her.
"That's so kind of you...."
I can see him squinting slightly to read her name tag before he continues.
"Kathleen. Do you mind if I call you Kathy??"
Once again she nods, practically dumbfounded that this Big Star as she must believe Sebastian is, that he is addressing her like this.
He leans against the counter, putting on the charm again without it seeming intentional.
"So Kathy, any luck finding a place for me and my beautiful fiancée?"
She blushes a deep crimson as her fingers fly across the computer keyboard. Bas shoots me a wink. He must really love this, flexing latent acting skills.
Showcasing his Slytherin tendencies.
"I was able to get you a cabana suite, with wonderful views of the Bellagio and its fountain show across the Boulevard. If.... if that's okay Mr Gustin."
Sebastian flashes another one of his heart stopping smiles her way as he murmurs across his approval.
I watch in awe of this man as he passes her his credit card for confirmation. Calmly explaining away the name on it by saying that it is his agent who handles and pays for things like this.
Once the key cards are in hand, he bids her a cheery Adieu. We are almost to the elevators by the time my brain catches up with what just happened.
"Bastian, what was that??"
His impish grin is back as the elevator doors open and we step in side. Green eyes glittering with playful amusement and something more.
"It's Vegas, Princess. Go big or go home right?"
