"What the freak is this!" you yelled on spotting the marks on your forehead stating 'Thank you' in block letters. "Is this his gesture of gratitude? How idiotic! Hmph!"
You sprinted to the restroom. The white marble oriented tiles reflected the light rays, brightening the mood. Your hands advanced to a scrub and soap kept on a slab. Continuous scours worked wonders as the ink marks lightened, softened and vanished, leaving a crimson crown on the plate of your forehead. A heavy sigh gushed out of your mouth. "What the hell! Was this too necessary? Atleast I don't die for his appreciation anyways," you pondered while spelling the words in a sarcasm.
Your feet entered the glass boundary of the shower and you turned the knob. Drops of moderately warm water kissed down your throat and frame. They replenished the energy in your cells which you were yet lacking for the partially active brain, a few moments ago. You grabbed the scrubber pretty firmly and ran it across your skin, producing clouds of foam all over. The wet strands of hair on your skull adhered to your nape and shoulders as you sought amusement in the artificial rain. Happiness and peace were what you always looked forward to in every little things which were your so called 'childhood habits' and to be honest, you were too much proud of these characters in you.
You brought yourself out of the bathroom, wrapping a towel around your curves and perched right in front of your vanity.
Your forehead looked devastated with scratches and was swollen red. Maybe you added a bit extra power than what was actually enough for the purpose. A puff strolled through your nosetrils and you started blow drying your hair. The scratches did not magnetise too much of your attentions because your soft bangs were more than capable to hide them perfectly.
"I'm not leaving that jerk. He doesn't deserve my kindness. I'll inform the inspector today for sure," you thought.
"Y/N! Please come down for a moment!"
Mrs.Yoon was here already. Her voice was enough to startle and notify you already for her presence.
"Coming aunty! Just two minutes!"
You braced yourself in a pretty comfy long length sweater with skinny jeans. The strap of your purse encircled your body and you were ready to head downstairs.
Greeting the floorings, you aborted the staircases and advanced towards the room on you left, belonging to your grandma. You twirked your head in to check Mrs. Yoon feeding a capsule to the older lady.
"Good morning aunty. Did you want to say something?" you forced a smile.
Mrs. Yoon shone a bright beam, "Yes, not me, your granny wanted to talk to you. You guys continue, I'll prepare the meals."
"Ok but skip my share. I'll take it from outside somewhere."
"Fine," she came closer to you and whispered," I hope your friend is fine?"
You nodded in response and faked a smile. Mrs. Yoon left after giving a light squeeze to your shoulder.
"Y/N, come here girl," your grandma raised while patting on the mattress beside her. You plopped down on her side.
"How are you doing granny? Are you taking the medicines on time? Is aunty giving you proper food?"
"Yes all are fine. Now stop asking me questions because I've got a lot to ask you."
You gulped feeling some uncertainty, "What?"
"Did you bring up a boy home last night?"
"Granny... I won't lie to you. Yes I did but I just wanted to help!"
"I didn't ask you your intentions. How does he look?"
You dropped your jaw at her recent interrogation. "Huh? Why though?"
"Just tell me, is he handsome?" She wiggled her brows in curiosity.
You could utterly decide what to say, "Well he looks good. His fashion sense is quite fancy and cool, his face has a nice structure and..."
"And?"
"His voice is pretty deep and a little husky at times." The first thing that hit your suspisions upon him.
"That's fine. Men are born with such vocals, it's none of their faults."
"But why do you ask?"
"Don't take me wrong but look at you. You're shrinking into a dwarf as time is passing. You need someone to take care of you too. I'm an aged lady. How long would I be there behind your back?"
Her riddling words suppressed your mind. "What do you mean? I'm 5'3"! I ain't that short. And what are you even talking about? I'm not understanding anything!"
"You can never notice changes in yourself as others can. I've the proficiency to say what tiny little changes your body has curved in these few months."
"Granny, now you're really confusing me. Spill the beans."
"Why don't you get married?"
"What!" you gasped, "No way! So you were asking about him because you want me to - oh gosh, no freaking way! That's worst! That never happening!"
"Why? What's wrong in him? You said he's good-looking. What's the issue then?" she crinkled her forehead.
You grazed your finger through the lanes of your hair. "How can you even say that? You don't know him. Even I don't know anything about him, not even his fucking name!"
"Really? Why did you bring him home then?"
A sigh sunk from your mouth. "That was because I only wished to help him out. He had a really high temperature and he almost passed out, infact he did! I didn't want to abandon him outside in such a condition." You lowered your head while twiddling your fingers together.
Your grandma carassed your head. "I know my Y/N can never tolerate people getting sick or hurt. I was only testing your loyalty, don't worry," she smiled gladly.
You extended the corner of lips slightly. "I see but you know what? I think he's a criminal. He had a revolver with him. No money, no identity card, no license, no phone, nothing."
"Criminals are also humans, Y/N. They don't kill or hurt someone on purpose unless they are forced. I'm not talking about the rapid psychopaths but even they've got a reason for their respective forms of behaviour."
You quietly listened to what she spoke. "You mean I shouldn't inform the police about this?"
"That depends. Did he touch you?"
He did not touch you, he squished you pathetically. "No."
"Did he take away anything with him?"
"No, I guess..."
"Did he say anything to you?"
"Neither that. But still, I think I should, for the sake of our safety."
She exhaled deeply. "Do not always rely upon logic, there lies a magic too in every moment of life. Just some sparkle whereas others don't. I won't stop you from doing anything but just don't do something in a rush which you might regret later."
Her words seeemed likely to hit you hard. "Magic?" you mumbled.
"I guess I'll be going now. Thank you granny. I'll see what to do. Bye bye!" You tried to shove those thoughts away.
You pecked her cheek and bade a last wave prior to tottering out of the room. Your granny smiled in a way as if she had won something grand.
V P.O.V
I shut the door behind before claiming my couch. It had been really stressful since I left the house. Coming home, I realised that I had left my phone at home itself. God knows what will happen is she finds out about my late night outings.
Brr brr bweep!
Not even a few minutes surpassed than I perceived the ringing tone of my phone. I charged myself up the stairs sheepishly to barge into my corner.
The device was glowing its screen over the sheets. Before I grasped it, the tune ceased. The screen flashed forty-nine missed calls from her. My eyes widened in extreme shock. Within a few seconds, the speakers again bursted with the same ringtone. I was shook thoroughly for the 50th ring.
Was this the siren of my death?
