Chapter 13

Edwin, Elliot and Audrey had refused to bring up the subject of  Lucifer and Clyde but it had been eating away at all of their minds. They were all getting increasingly more worried as the days passed and  neither Clyde nor Lucifer had made an appearance. Talking about it, however, made the situation worse. All they wanted was to forget the two boys that had made such an impact on their lives.

Edwin had decided to invite Audrey and Elliot over for tea as a kind, friendly gesture. They had just sat down, their meals in front of them when there was a loud knock on the door. Elliot stood up, smiling softly at his friend and girlfriend. "I'll get that." He walked to the door and opened it, unaware of who was behind it. Upon seeing the pair at the door, he stumbled backwards, clasping a hand over his mouth. He couldn't say anything: he was too surprised.

"Elliot, who is it?" Edwin yelled, concerned that they hadn't heard a single voice. For a couple of seconds, there was the sound of two pairs of feet padding down the hall and then there were two gasps.

"Lucifer and Clyde!" Audrey squealed, lunging forward and hugging the pair of boys. "I'm so happy you're okay! We were so worried!"

"What happened?" Elliot asked, staring at the two boys in awe.

"It's a long story." Clyde laughed, smiling widely.

"Would you like to join us for dinner?" Edwin suddenly asked, just about remembering the fact that they were just about to eat. "We're having stew and there's plenty for you two too. I'm sure you're both  hungry."

"Thank you." Lucifer said before the group walked back into the kitchen.

Around ten minutes later, Clyde and Lucifer had joined their friends at the table and they were digging into their food. Both boys were starving from the amount of energy their day had drained from them.

"This is delicious!" Lucifer grinned, happily shoving a spoonful of the stew into his mouth.

-

"Care to tell us where you've both been?" Elliot said with a raised eyebrow.

"As you know, Lucifer was kidnapped," Clyde started, earning a laugh from Edwin.

"We know that much."

"Well, I..."

-

The group was staring at Lucifer and Clyde with awestruck expressions. They all lapsed into silence as the story came to a close  because they didn't entirely know how to react. Audrey was first to break the silence as she tackled the pair of boys into another hug. "You saved us! You saved the world!" She mumbled, too happy to realise she was probably cutting off the boys' circulation with her tight hug.

"Well done, Lucifer and Clyde, we knew you could do it." Edwin smiled and his eyes sparkled: he was proud of what the pair had accomplished. "I think this calls for a celebration."

-

A band was playing music loudly as some people danced along with  their friends and partners. Fairy lights were strung across the trees, lighting up the area with bright colours of hope and happiness. The people that weren't dancing were sitting on long logs, glasses of wine or beer in the adults' hands and juice in the children's. Everyone was grinning because they were finally safe and free from all evil.. thanks to Clyde and Lucifer.

"Everyone grab a drink!" Edwin yelled, holding up his glass of beer. "I call a toast for Lucifer and Clyde! Cheers to havin' these heroes with us! They saved this world from all evil!"

The whole crowd screamed, "cheers!" and it was the most amazing moment in Lucifer and Clyde's life. To see all the grins and happy smiles and know they were behind them all was the best thing in the world.

-

"Clyde?" Lucifer mumbled, staring at the ceiling with tired eyes. "How do you think we'll get home?"

"I don't know.." Clyde responded, turning over in his sleeping bag so  that he could look at his friend. "We've done what we came here to do so maybe we'll find a way to get home tomorrow."

Lucifer hummed a response and the room went silent. Clyde actually thought that the other boy had fallen asleep: he had been silent for that long but then he spoke up. "Will we still be friends when we get  home?"

Clyde pondered for a moment. Would they be friends? Or would everything go back to normal? He wanted them to stay friends.

"I hope so."
