Chapter 1
WELCOME TO MY NEW BOOK! THIS TIME IT ISN'T FANFICTION SO... ENJOY!!
Lucifer grinned, his fire-y red fringe falling over his electrifyingly blue eyes. His grin wasn't particularly evil but there was something sinister about it.
Clyde chuckled, holding up his hand as a flicker of energy escaped from his palm. Him and Lucifer were standing shoulder to shoulder, their hands stretched out in front of them towards the enemy.
Their powers were filling them both, soon to escape and-
"Morning, mum." Clyde grumbled, rubbing his eyes as he smiled tiredly at his mother. He stuck a couple of slices of bread into the toaster before swerving around. "Do I have to go to school today?" Clyde was just like any typical teenager: he hated school more than anything in the world.
"Of course you do!" Clyde's mum responded, shaking her head at her son.
"But I don't want to go."
"You have to, Clyde." Clyde's hazel eyes flashed with something and it was most likely dismay. At least he tried.
"You're horrible to me." As if timed, the toast popped out of the toaster and Clyde put it onto the plate he had just got out.
"You'll thank me one day."
"No, I most definitely won't." Clyde smeared his toast with butter before taking a large bite.
-
Clyde's backpack was black, perfectly suiting his mindset at that exact moment. He entered the school gates, gloom filling him as he saw the other students. He already wanted to go home. He wandered down the thin halls before reaching his locker. He inserted his key and turned it slowly, dragging out the time and trying to make it slower. He shoved his sketchbook inside the small space before locking it again.
Clyde's life was one, big cycle. He woke up, went to school and then slept. The same thing happened every day and he was almost used to the familiarity of everything.
"Clyde!" His friend, Chris, yelled a little too loudly. Clyde just waved, smiling softly at his friend. "We have maths first.. Doesn't that just suck?" Clyde nodded, not paying too much attention to his annoying, overly enthusiastic friend. It was too early in the morning for yelling.
-
"Today we'll be learning about poetry-" Clyde's attention was lost as soon as he heard his monotone teacher say the word poetry. He just stared into space as his teacher droned on and on about the importance of using descriptive techniques in poetry. He subconsciously clicked his pen to the beat of the second hand on the clock. Click. Click. Click.
"Excuse me?" Someone hissed, poking his shoulder in a rather harsh manner. Clyde turned to face the person with a curious eyebrow raised. "Can you stop clicking your pen? I'm trying to listen."
Clyde uttered out an apology as he turned away from the other boy.
-
Tutor dragged out excessively longer than usual. Clyde had his head in one hand as he stared out the window at the school playground. It was deserted and it looked so much more sinister that way. "Clyde. Lucifer. Stay behind." Clyde barely heard the teacher's words but let out a loud groan anyway. Lucifer also let out an equally loud groan.
He hadn't gotten into trouble so Clyde had nothing to worry about. The reason he hated staying back was because it postponed when he could get home.
The bell rang and the class flooded out of the room, talking loudly about how thankful they were to "be free from hell". Clyde and the boy from English earlier, however, walked up to the front of the class where the small teacher was standing. He was smiling rather creepily at the pair of boys.
"Lucifer, Clyde..." The teacher dragged out the two names which was completely unnecessary. Clyde could see from the corner of his eye that Lucifer was impatiently shifting his weight between his feet, swaying side to side as he did so.
"Get on with it." Lucifer muttered under his breath, hoping the teacher didn't hear.
"What was that?" Lucifer went bright red, mumbling that it was nothing. "That's what I thought. So, you two boys are pretty important, you know?" Lucifer's blue eyes widened in confusion, as did Clyde's hazel. "You both look rather confused." The teacher barked out a laugh and Clyde decided he was insane. Completely, utterly insane.
"You're insane." Lucifer voiced Clyde's thoughts, backing up a little. His thirty-something year old teacher was calling him- a teenage boy- important. He was insane.
"You two have so much potential. You could change a whole world. You just need to work together."
Lucifer rolled his eyes, glaring at both Clyde and the teacher. "You're making it up. I always thought you were a little peculiar. I didn't know you were this insane though."
"Lucifer, listen to me-"
"Why should I listen to my crazy teacher?"
"Because it could cost you your-"
"Weirdo." Lucifer uttered before turning and striding out of the classroom.
Clyde bit his lip, diverting his gaze from where Lucifer was standing to the ground. "Sorry." He then rushed out of the classroom, just wanting to get home.
-
"Lucifer?" Clyde called, speed-walking towards the other boy.
"What do you want?" Lucifer snapped, halting in the middle of the hallway, a deep frown on his face.
"What do you think the teacher was on about?" Clyde sounded generally curious, earning an eye roll on Lucifer's behalf.
"It was all rubbish. He's mentally unstable or something."
"Oh."
"I have to get home now. Unlike you, I have an actual life."
Clyde sighed, deciding Lucifer didn't seem like someone who would make the best friend.
-
"Clyde, eat up." Clyde's mum said, putting a plate of pasta down in front of her son. She sighed as Clyde just picked up his fork and poked the food, completely uninterested.
"I'm not very hungry." Clyde's mind was filled with everything his 'insane' teacher had said to him and Lucifer. His stomach was flipping- a way of telling him something was seriously wrong but.. what was wrong? His life seemed pretty perfect.. nothing obvious was up.
"You need to eat something otherwise you'll be hungry later."
Clyde just shrugged. "Thanks though."
-
"Goodnight!" Clyde yelled down the stairs before slipping into his bed. He felt quite fine as his head hit the pillow- like everything in his life was pretty good. He closed his eyes and sleep overtook him quite quickly.
So that was the first chapter.. wow.. I hope you enjoyed it!! If you want to, comment and tell me what you thought ^-^
