damsel in distress

Ricky didn't wait for long as Megara showed up to the theatre in a matter of minutes, her Jeep coming to a screeching halt in the front where Ricky sat on a bench with his board. He lifted his head, only able to hear Megara pull up as he had one earbud in that was playing music. Megara gave him a small smile as she leaned forward, nodding with her head, signalling for him to get it. "Come on, loser. Let's go get a boba."
Ricky smiled at the sight, picking up his board and tucking it under his arm as he approached the Jeep. He was underdressed compared to the girl, who in his opinion, was pretty much always dressed up. While he wore a jean jacket with a basic tee, she wore a pastel green sleeveless dress with white flowers which crossed and tied in the back, paired with a pair of skinny white heels. He threw his board into the back as he took his earbud out and shoved his phone into his pocket. "Took you long enough."
Megara smiled, slowly releasing her foot from the brake as she manoeuvered her way out of the parking lot. She knew he was just teasing, it only took her like five minutes to get there. "Why weren't you at Ej's party tonight?"
Ricky shrugged. "It's not like anyone was asking for me, right?"
Reaching a stop sign, Megara braked the car again. "No, but I was wondering," she bit her lip. "Hey, can you reach into my purse and grab me my chapstick."
"Chapstick," Ricky mumbled to himself, thinking she would be wearing something a little fancier. But then he got a good look at her as he handed it to her. Even though he knew close to nothing about makeup, she looked natural tonight, if anything maybe a little concealer, blush and of course mascara. He might be a little dumb, but he knew Megara didn't go anywhere without making sure her lashes looked, as she said, 'bomb'.
"Thank you," she said, her manicured fingers plucking the balm from his hand and applying it instantly.
"Aren't you going to go?" Ricky asked, using his hand to point to the empty road in front of them.
"Do you want me driving and applying?" Megara asked with pointed eyebrows, tossing the balm back into the purse Ricky placed on his lap. He looked down at the bag with wide eyes, impressed. "Besides, there's no one behind us, grandpa," she giggled.
"Where are we going?" Ricky asked as she took a turn.
Megara shrugged. "I'm thirsty. You wanna go grab something?"
Ricky nodded. "Yeah, I uh, don't exactly wanna go back home right now."
"Yeah, me either," Megara agreed.
"You're not going to drag me back to the party?" he turned to look at her, though her focus was solely on the road.
Megara shook her head. "Nah, I didn't even really wanna be there anyways." Before Ricky could ask any more questions, she used her right hand to turn up the volume on the radio, which was connected via iPod that she used solely for cruising in her car.
"Hannah Montana?" Ricky asked, unable to hold back a smile at the girl's choice in music.
"Let go, get up and hit the dance floor," Megara sang the first verse of her favourite Hannah Montana song with a wide grin. She was practically dancing in her seat. "But when the lights go down it's the ending of the show..."
"Oh my God," Ricky mumbled, knowing he was going to have to hear her sing the rest of the song. Then he was second-guessing putting his own phone and earbuds away.
