Juwon left the bedroom and joined Muna downstairs. He met her in the kitchen getting smoothie.
"Why are you here?" he asked as he leaned on the countertop.
Muna flipped her hair as she looked at him. "What do you mean? I said I was going to come in to town to check on you."
"You couldn't call ahead?"
Muna frowned. "Have you even sighted your phone today? I've been calling you non stop, you were just too busy screwing her not to notice."
Juwon ignored the last part. Who he screwed wasn't her business. He heard Gini coming down the stairs and walked out of the kitchen. He heard Muna snort as he walked out. He honestly couldn't blame her, he should have kept his mouth shut and not said anything about Gini to her. If she did something stupid to ruin his relationship though, there was going to be hell to pay.
Juwon saw Gini at the end of the stairs dressed in the flimsy dress she had on the night before. He followed her out and drove her home. When he got back to the house, Muna was making calls to his service workers. He waited until she hung up to speak to her.
"Are we having a party?" he asked teasingly.
"Your friends are coming into town."
"Why don't I know about this?"
Muna was becoming visibly agitated. "Again, I sent you a mail but you didn't see it along with the several calls."
"What's up with you?" Muna wasn't her usual chirpy self. He'd sent her back to the city to get her groove back on and she came back in a worse mood than he was used to.
She sat upright like she'd been waiting for him to ask her that particular question. "Do you really need to continue with the revenge? I don't feel good about it. Let's pack up and just leave town."
Juwon smiled. "You want me to abandon my girlfriend?"
"You don't have a girlfriend, do you?"
"I do. I understand why you're so worried, you don't have to be anymore. Everything is good."
"I have a bad feeling about this. You have her sleeping over already, isn't it too early?"
"Muna, focus on my business and I'll be free to pursue my happiness as I see fit. Let's not talk about this anymore, okay?"
Muna didn't answer but it was obvious that she got it. "Is there anything in particular you want me to get before your friends arrive?"
"Just stock the fridge. You can also get toiletries from Gini's store."
"You mean Big Fred's store?"
"It's hers now and we're supporting."
Muna stood from the chair and got her bag. "I honestly don't understand you anymore. You want me to patronize someone that accused you of rape?"
"That was a long time ago. She's a different person now." Hopefully, he added silently.
"She told you this?" she asked as she walked towards the stairs.
"Just do as I say and stop bugging. Muna, be nice to her."
"I'll quit when she breaks your heart again. I won't be here to pick up the pieces, I just won't do it."
Juwon allowed her to have the last word. He didn't care what she said, he just wanted her to be nice to his girlfriend. He climbed the stairs also and went to his room. He got the file he'd gotten from Roman and typed Gini's number on his phone. If she asked how he got it, he'd just come up with a lie.
"Birdie," he smiled as she picked up.
"J."
"You sound tired, are you okay."
"Not tired, just home resting."
"Do you want me to come around?"
"You just dropped me off like an hour ago."
"So?"
"Come, then."
Juwon didn't like the way she put the invitation but he promised to be there in few minutes before ending the call. Was she getting tired of him already?
He changed into a tracksuit and went downstairs, he got his car key and phone before leaving the house. When Juwon arrived at Gini's house, he quickly sent a text to Muna to let her know he was out of the house. He knocked on the door and Gini answered. She was dressed in bum shorts and a cropped tank top. Juwon tried to fix his eyes on her face but they stayed glued to her exposed belly button.
"Aren't you coming in?" Gini asked when he stayed glued to a spot staring.
He walked in and sat on the sofa. "What are we doing today?" he asked like a student in a new class.
"I heard there's a mall in town, do you know about it?"
"Not really. Do you want to go there?"
"I don't know. You said you came back two years ago?"
"True, said that." Juwon already knew where the question was headed and he wasn't ready for it.
"My dad's lawyer told me about this store that came into town, did whatever they could to get all my father's customers and succeeded."
"Really?"
"You didn't know?"
"No. I was probably too busy with the resort."
"Well, Big Fred tried to compete with them but it didn't work out. He got sick eventually and died."
"That's sad," he was forced to say to seem empathetic.
"It is. He can be sometimes mean but he was a good father...to some extent, at least."
Juwon tried not to roll his eyes as she praised her father. Gini, was either clueless or deluded. He was leaning on the latter but since she had his brain screwed in a way he couldn't explain, he'd go with the former.
"May his soul..." Juwon tried to finish the last part but couldn't. He couldn't bring himself to wish his soul peace for fear that it'd actually happen. He wanted him to get whatever he deserved.
Gini scooted beside him and he drew her closer to comfort her. "You'll be fine, I promise."
"Would I be betraying his memories if I went to the mall?"
"Of course not."
"I just wanted to be sure. I'll go change."
"You look good with what you have on."
Gini laughed. "I've better stuff. You can help me choose."
"Alright."
Juwon followed her up the stairs and he experienced a moment of deja vu, it felt like the first time again. If he hadn't walked up the stairs with her that day, his life wouldn't be what it was now. He shrugged the feeling off and smiled when he entered her room. It hadn't changed at all and Juwon looked at the door expecting Big Fred to show up anytime soon.
"What are you looking for?" Gini asked when she noticed him continuously staring at the door.
Juwon rubbed his head and gave an awkward smile. "Nothing."
Gini pulled off her shorts and his eyes went to her butt and remained there. He studied the stretch marks on her hips until her fingers went to her waist to pull her thong down. Juwon rushed to her side and helped her get the flimsy piece off.
Gini looked straight into his eyes as he raised his head. He stared at her back as his fingers went to the hem of her cropped top. Juwon let his fingers linger on her exposed skin before pulling the top over her head. He noticed her trying to control her breathing as she stood stark naked in front of him.
"What do you want to wear?"
"You."
"Sorry, you can't wear me," he replied jokingly, even though he was rock hard in his briefs.
He particularly liked seeing her hungry for him. Her breathing couldn't be controlled now and her eyes had taken that glazed look that weakened his knees. His chest swole as Gini reached out for his right hand, she placed it on one breast and Juwon raised his brows.
Gini moved his hand for him when he didn't do what she expected. Juwon felt her nipple harden under his touch as she moved his hand. She took it lower and left it below her belly button. Juwon raised his brows again and Gini's hands went to his waistband. He hissed when her soft hand closed over his overtly hard member.
"You're trouble," he said when her fingers kept teasing him.
"Good trouble," her eyes twinkled as she said.
Juwon looked at the door again and Gini dragged his face back. "No one is there, stop looking."
He nodded then kissed her hard.
