Chapter 7
Hey! The chapter is short but awesome! Enjoy!
Clover POV
I pulled weeds until my face was drenched in sweat. Mable looked just fine. She had a bucketful of weeds when she said,
“I think that will do for today. Thanks for helping Clover! Don’t forget to pick up your teddy bear on the way out.” I nodded and passed Mable my bucket. I wiped my face of sweat and climbed down the ladder. I reached the bottom and looked at the wall clock. It read 11:55 AM. I turned to say goodbye to Flora, but she was gone. She had left the flowers unwatered, which struck me as odd. I picked up my teddy bear and walked out to put it back into my cabin. I wanted to talk to Courtney because she could always lift my mood. I walked into the Athena cabin and placed my bear on my sheets. The Athena cabin was empty, but I could still hear the bundles of laughter echo through the room. I had made so many memories in this place. I took a deep breath and thought about the clues I had found. I pulled out the note and read it over once more. I couldn’t get it. Leo I thought He would know! I hastily stuffed my note into my pocket and rushed toward the bunker. I rushed passed a bunch of Hermes kids leaving to go ride the pegasi. I stepped into the woods and thought about the way to the bunker. I ran through the woods until I reached the white cliff that hid the bunker. It then dawned on me that I couldn’t get in! Leo was usually the one who let me in. I walked up to the cliff, when something caught my eye. I looked over into the trees and saw a bronze brazier burning. That struck me as odd. The brazier looked like it had been taken from the dining pavillion, and if I wasn’t mistaken, those were ones that were cemented to the floor! I walked over to is and noticed a pair of welding gloves laying next to it. I picked them up and read the note that was on them.
Clover, how do you open the bunker? You have witnessed it many times.
I looked at the door to the bunker then looked back at the gloves and the bronze brazier. I knew what I had to do. I slipped on the heavy duty gloves and stuck my hand in the flames. I picked up a piece of coal, that was burning, and walked over to the cliff. I pressed the coal up against the door and it started to open. I smiled and placed the piece of coal back into the brazier. I took off the work gloves as fast as I could and walked into the bunker. The door closed behind me and the next thing I saw was a jumble of lights!
“SURPRISE!!!!!” Everyone yelled. I screamed until I realized it was my friends! Zach, Courtney, Mable, Flora, Tyson, Sierra, Piper, Jason and Leo. Tyson hit a button and there was an explosion. I looked up and saw a thousands of colored paper falling to the floor. I smiled as big as my mouth could go! I went up to Leo and gave him a huge hug. He embraced my arms as well and the others cheered.
“Thank you so much!” I told him. He just smiled at me and said to the others,
“I think it is time to play some games!!” Everyone cheered, even me as we headed to the ladders. I looked up at the ceiling and was amazed at what I saw. There was green tarp attached to the ceiling and holes in it with flags, like at a miniature golf course. Leo hauled me up the ladder until we reached the top. He let go of my hand and handed me a golf putter.
“You told me you like miniature golf.” I smiled, but Leo wasn’t done. He pulled down on a lever and I could feel myself being pulled to the ceiling. My feet lifted off the ground then stuck to the ceiling! I took a step, but I didn’t fall. I was walking on the ceiling! The green tarps pulled themselves flat against the ceiling until it looked like a miniature golf course. Sierra yelped as she was pulled to the ceiling. Courtney held down her dress as she was pulled upwards as well. To make sure the stuff on the bunker floor didn’t attach themselves to the ceiling as well Leo set the gravity switcher to low. Jason grabbed four or so golf putters and handed them out to the others as they were pulled to the ceiling. Leo was the last to come up. I looked up (or down) and saw everything right, but wrong. I reached out my hand and touched the support cable from the catwalks. I looked back at the miniature golf course and said to my friends,
“Who’s first?” I asked. Everyone shot their hands up.
