3. Taking an Infiltration Mission
{???, Italy}
In a small office sat a tall blond man, bearded chin resting on his cross hands he kept his brown eyes closed, waiting for his guest. This man was the "Vongola Consigliere" also known as Sawada Iemitsu, the Young Lion of the Vongola. A bald man stood tall next to him, in a suit, his eyes narrowed, he listened intently into his earpiece.
Bending, he whispered a few words into his boss' ear, earning him a low hum before straightening once again. Shoulders slightly tense, his right hand hovered over his gun as he stared intently at the door.
His boss, whose eyes were now open took a more regal stance his aura emitting more power and authority than before as they trailed onto the door in front of him. A few seconds later a soft knock was heard before the door unlocked, and a raven head came in.
"Good morning." the male said in a clear voice, a perfect business smile etched on his face as he gave a small bow in Iemitsu's direction before nodding in his subordinate's to show he acknowledged him.
Iemistu's eyes narrowed imperceptibly, as he took in the ravenette's whole appearance before sending him his, own business smile. "Yucca, right?" he asked before continuing. "It has come to my attention that you had yet to affiliate yourself to any organization," he stated, "I presume it is still the case."
Yucca's smile stretched as his right, gloved hand which hid behind his back gave an imperceptible twitch.
Ah, am I this much of nuisance or do they want to "deepen" our bonds, he wondered silently.
"Your information is right, as expected of the Vongola Famiglia," he stated, his eyes narrowing slightly. "what else would you like to know?" he inquired, his guard rising a bit as he gave the bald man, a glance.
"How many foreign languages do you know?" the CEDEF's Boss asked flatly, stunning the other male in the process as he wasn't prepared for this type of question before he recomposed himself and answered, his tone as cherry as it was when he first came into the room.
"Enough to meet any of my client's requirements" he evaded, with a closed eyes-smile, "I see..." Iemitsu trailed off, "in other words?"
Yucca's smile faltered before regaining its previous composure, he didn't want to reveal all of his cards without a proper reason, "I don't know how many to be honest," his voice went down as he started to think, "I've lost count of how many I could speak." he admitted with fake shyness.
"Really," Iemistu hummed, "then, I assume you know and fluently speak more than seven."
"At least," Yucca trailed off getting lost in thoughts of his actual and old life's linguistic experiences.
"Good," Iemistu's smile brightened "who is your master?" he asked.
"My master..." Yucca brought his previously hidden hand to his chin in contemplation. "Well my uncle initiated me I suppose, but I haven't seen him since I turned 17?" he asked himself before nodding and continuing, "Otherwise I'm self-taught," he stated. It wasn't a complete lie, after all, Yucca didn't receive any help apart from his uncle, only Koro learned from a master. It wouldn't be safe to blab about his old master if the Vongola checked his story.
Iemistu and his subordinate's, Turmeric, eyes widened, they didn't expect the new up and coming assassin to be masterless and without any organization to back him. Iemitsu's smile stretched if it was possible, this was honestly too beneficial for them, no master, no organization, Yucca was a blank slate in term of affiliation. It wouldn't cause any problem if, he was to join them.
"Then, you wouldn't mind infiltrating someplace for an indeterminate amount of time?" Iemistu asked getting down to business.
"I wouldn't." was Yucca's straight answer, not waiting to ponder his thoughts before answering.
Pleased, Iemitsu stood up, "This infiltration is in our midst," he confided as he casually made his way around the desk, Turmeric following closely behind, "our independent assassination delegation to be precise, the Varia." now standing in front of the male he extended his hand, "The infiltration will start tomorrow, if you accept it."
Yucca smiled his business smile before returning the handshake, "I'll be in your care, Iemitsu-san." Iemistu hummed, his eyes narrowing in satisfaction.

{Vongola headquarter, Italy}
It was now the early afternoon, Yucca, accompanied by Iemitsu was standing in front of a large wooden door's office. Iemitsu turned to him and gave him a small nod before knocking on the massive door. A little "come in" was heard before Iemitsu pushed the door.
"Excuse-me Nono-sama," Iemistu said as he came into the office, yucca following closely. Both males gave, a small bow before Iemistu continued "this is Yucca," he indicated, a hand extended in the said male's direction. Yucca his business smile in place nodded, Timoteo whose gaze lingered on the male gave a grandfatherly smile before urging Iemitsu to go on.
"He's one of the hitmen we have worked with, in the last year, no master or affiliation. I think he is the perfect candidate to keep an eye on the Varia whose actions have become more and more suspicious in the last few years." Iemitsu explained, earning him a strained smile from the old boss.
Timoteo's brown eyes observed Yucca for a few seconds before sighing. "I'll trust you Iemitsu," he said, reclining on his red quilted armchair. "but have you told this young man about the Varia's current predicament?" he inquired.
"I have," Iemistu answered without hesitation, "he knows what he is getting into."
Timoteo didn't answer, only closing his eyes as a stuffy silence settled in the room. He didn't want to involve a young man, the age of his "son" into the Varia. Although he knew he must be capable if Iemitsu introduced him, he didn't want such a young man dying, because of his recklessness. Alas, he didn't know the man, and he had already agreed, another candidate would be hard to find he couldn't dismiss him without any valid reasons. Sighing, he pressed a small button on the side of his desk.
Minutes later, a middle-aged man with black hair on the back half of his head and blonde hair in the front came into the office after knocking. Bowing, he gave the room's occupants an amiable smile.
"Ganache," Timoteo called out, "Take this young man to the training room, I want you to brief him on the Varia situation" he ordered. "Sure thing Timoteo." Ganache said before directing Yucca out of the office and leading him to the underground training grounds.

It was 10.54pm, standing in front of his old friend and boss' desk, Ganache reported his impression on Yucca. Said male was resting in one of the many guestrooms.
"From what I've seen and the report I've read, he's more than capable." Ganache started as he sat down on one of the office's red sofa. "He adapts to situations quickly, is quick-witted, athletic has many missions behind him and a deadly reputation he's been building over the last year." he described, "I don't think he favors any weapons, but he tends to use small and unnoticeable ones. Probably so he can hide them better." Frowning he continued, "I've looked into his past relationships and his current cover, no alive relative but we still need to check, he's a bit discreet, as for his cover..." his voice trailed off, "he's taking correspondence courses to become a journalist or novelist, this might be the only problem." he finished.
Timoteo hummed, "When will he finish his 'studies'?" he asked. "Probably two or three years," Ganache pondered, "but he should be able to stop them at any moment," he stated.
Timoteo nodded tiredly before dismissing his guardian and resuming his paperwork. So many things to do, I'm too old for this he thought as he took his fountain pen and started to look over the documents and sign them.

Early the next morning, a bit before sunrise, Yucca woke up, another old habit the body's original owner had. Stretching he ruffled his black locks before getting out of the comfortable king-sized bed and making his way to his bedroom's bathroom, taking a shower, he got dressed before getting out to the dining hall to have breakfast.
Not many people apart from the employees were up yet, and it was in a comfortable silence that Yucca had his breakfast. A cup of hot espresso in hand, he quietly read the newspaper one of the maids had brought him before once again getting up once he had finished. The paper still in hand, he made his way back to his room.
::
It was now 10.00am, Yucca was still in his room surfing on the internet with his phone to see what had happened in the world but mostly because he had called his "Boss" or Ran-chan earlier to tell him he would be a bit busy the next few months and not to call or worry.
A soft knock was heard outside of the room as a maid made herself known. "Yucca-sama, Nono-sama would like to speak with you" she called out still outside. Slipping his phone inside his grey and purple bomber's pocket he opened the door and urged the petite female to guide him to her master's office.
Now in front of the office, she knocked softly before excusing herself once Yucca was in the room, closing the door she let the two males talk to each other.
"You can still decline," Timoteo started after greeting the raven head, "once the infiltration has started you won't be able to." he ended looking straight into the male's purple orbs. Seeing the younger man deny his proposition without hesitation, Timoteo resigned himself and sighed, if the young man was so determined, why stop him?
"Read," Timoteo stated as he tossed him a pile of documents. "these are confidential information, it's better for you to know them."
Yucca nodded, turning the first page, Cradle Affair stood in bold letters on the cover. Carefully reading each page, a frown slowly made itself on his usually smiling or impassive face. He didn't know whether to take the Vongola or the Varia's side, both to him seemed legitimate in their actions.
Faced with a coup, Timoteo had acted as a boss should and even then he had been somewhat lenient by sparring all of their lives. On the other side, Xanxus' actions were understandable, in the same situation at the same age Koro would have probably attempted a coup too, maybe not the same way but he would have tried.
It had now been a bit more than six years since the ninth froze Xanxus with the Zero point whatever it is, and Yucca somehow understood why both parties were getting weary of the other.
His "transfer" to the Varia wouldn't be appreciated he was sure of it. And now he understood why Timoteo was so reticent to send him in their den when he was only a "newbie" in the assassination world. His worries were more than justified.
Yucca had never been as happy as he was now to have his old life's experiences and his strange visions which had saved his life more than once. Both were unquestionably his best assets in this mission.
Closing the files, Yucca passed his left hand in his hair and ruffled them a bit before standing up and giving the folder back to the older man who was waiting for his reaction expectantly. "What do you think?" Timoteo asked.
Yucca stared at him for a few seconds before nodding, "I have a better grasp of the situation." he stated. "I will watch over them, don't worry." he bowed earning him a kind but somewhat distressed smile from the Vongola's ninth boss before taking his leave.
Outside of the office, waiting for him was the man who had contacted him. Opening his eyes, he looked at the raven head and grinned. "I didn't introduce myself, yesterday, my name's, Sawada Iemitsu. I'm the Vongola Consigliere." he introduced. "I'll lead you to the Varia's estate or headquarter if you would prefer." this said, the blond made his way down the hall. "Your belongings have already been sent to the Varia while you and the ninth were conversing," he stated before Yucca could ask. "don't worry about them."
Yucca gave a firm nod, internally screaming, are my stuff even going to survive without me? Perhaps Iemitsu felt his worry, or maybe he felt guilty since he was the one who involved him in this situation, but the blond gave him an encouraging pat on the shoulder, "It's going to be okay, don't worry."
Thanks for reading, as promised, some of the Canon characters were introduced (although they weren't the "main"). Next chapter, Koro/Yucca will meet the Varia.
Also, if some of you are wondering why Iemitsu asked about how many foreign languages Yucca knew, it's because to join the Varia, one needs to speak a minimum of seven languages (source: KHR's Wikia).
Until next time.
