Random Ninth Grade Poetry
Exactly as the title says, here's two poems I spun two years ago for an English assignment:
Masquerade
At midnight, on the dot, on go the masks,
With a swish of fabric hearts are hidden,
No consent is needed for doubtful tasks
And wasted desires come unbidden.
Come one, come all, to where mystery lay,
Where hearts are mere playthings to guised heroes,
Where to veiled fangs you're sure to fall prey,
And where a silenced scream fore'er echoes.
Not a face in the crowd wants a hello,
Because here they leave their faces behind,
Lost in a sea of blank faces, like snow,
One soon finds their heart eternally twined.
So come one, come all to our frozen glade,
Welcome, welcome — our lovely masquerade!
A Child Born of Darkness
Of Darkness and Hatred,
Of Regret and Shame,
From Mother Leeds
Following twelve children
Betwixt Man and Beast,
Amongst a Hellish shadow
Below the Heavens fly,
Lest a Nightmare descend
Unto Pine Barren's earth,
Save whispering wind,
Save dancing shadows,
Without companions,
Toward eternity he roams.
As a side note, I'm really into mythology and whatnot, and cryptozoology is one of my favorite things. Which would explain the rather disturbing poem about the Jersey Devil (also known as the Leeds Devil). Also, Masquersde sucks. I'm aware of that.
