Seriously, someone help, I'm experiencing one helluva crisis right now.

So here's the deal: After I finished catching up on Kamisama Kiss (the manga, not the anime; I just don't feel like writing out the manga's full name) I got into Beelzebub, the manga about the delinquent kid who has to take care of the Demon King's baby? Yeah. It's as weird and absurd as you can imagine.

And I fell head over heels in love with it.

All the characters - Oga, Aoi, Hilda, Beelze, Toujou, Kanzaki, Himekawa and Natsume, just to name a few of my favorites - were fantastic and lovable in their own violent ways. Toujou Hidetora came out as my absolute favorite guy, with Oga just behind him, even though he wasn't that influential of a character. Or, he was, but only on certain moments, and not for very long. I mean, he rarely ever won against anyone once he lost to Oga... but regardless, he's a stupidly wonderful character and I love him to bits.

The plot was chaotic as hell, and I do mean that literally. I can't even explain it, really, but I guess it's your typical shounen manga, with guys kicking ass and getting their ass kicked. Sure, they "borrowed" (re: stole) some things from other great shounen stories (DBZ, One Piece, and Naruto, for example) but they were upfront and comical about the whole thing, so I ended up just cracking up over all the references they made.

The one thing I didn't like was that the fights were resolved really quickly - although, I will admit that probably made it realistic. I mean, it's a bit much to take about thirty chapters to fight one guy (I'm looking at you, Luffy), so in that regard I'm not even upset over it. The training scenes were quick as hell, too, but again I love the manga overall too much to care.

My problem kicks in here.

I FINISHED THE DAMN THING IN ABOUT TWO DAYS. 240 SOME CHAPTERS. IN TWO DAYS.

NOW I'M JUST SITTING HERE WONDERING WHAT THE HELL I'M SUPPOSED TO DO BECAUSE I ALREADY MISS IT SO MUCH

Plus, I know it's shounen, but they was no romantic development whatsoever between any of the characters. And it wasn't as though no one was interested - it was all the guys being ridiculously oblivious, Toujou and Oga especially (my other problem is that I low-key ship them and my phone is currently full of the few OgaXToujou pictures I could find, seeing as everyone who doesn't ship Oga with Hilda or Aoi apparently ships him with Furuichi which is just... whatever, I'm getting off track). Then there was Miki being in love with Oga (no one tell me he just admired him, you don't blush that much just from admiration alone) and that going nowhere fast (I wasn't actually expecting anything from it, seeing as I've never seen gay romance in a shounen manga before, though it has been hinted at). So I'm just frustrated, is all, because I can't help but ship unreasonable things even when I know nothing will come from it.

...well, I think that's everything I wanted to get off my chest. If I had anything else to say, it'd probably be that anyone into shounen would probably like Beelzebub. Oga Tatsumi (the main character) is surprisingly likable, even if he's practically a villain himself at the start of the series.

It can get a little ecchi at times, but not as much as some other manga I can think of, and usually we have Furuichi to blame for any pervertedness (though I suggest bracing yourself for a few of the characters that drop in later, as they pretty much rival Furuichi for the customary pervert position).

All in all, this has fought its way up into the ranks of my all-time favorite manga, and I DON'T KNOW WHAT TO FEEL NOW THAT I'M DONE WITH IT
