Chapter Fifty Two

Let me take over. I can make this entire problem go away. Nicholas, or anyone like him? They won't ever hurt you again! Let me take over.

"No.."

Come on, don't be weak. You know I'm capable of doing it. Do you want to get out of this alive?!

"Stop.."

Don't be so naive. You know he's not going to tell you everything. He's just going to make you think he won't kill you, force you to work against your father. He's playing you!

"Please.."

I can tell you everything. I can help you remember, please. Just let me take over. Everything will be so much easier if you let me.

You let your head go limp, falling between your shoulders. She just keeps talking, it's your voice but you know she's not you. Feeling a strain in your wrists and a tight pinching you haven't felt yet. You wince harder, allowing tears to come cascading down your face. Dropping right onto the lid below you, the only thing that's keeping you from burning alive.

The smoke is getting to you. It's not just any smoke, it's something else. There's something else.

But smoke is smoke.

Your skin is hot. It hurts so much to open your eyes, it burns so much. It's lost most of it's natural color, and has been replaced with a slight red tinge. Sweat rolls over every inch of your body, your lungs hurt so god damned badly. You're always going into fits of coughing, at one point you had to stop sobbing in order to breathe. You can feel your feet blistering under the heat, the white long gown isn't doing much for you, either. It's stuck to your body by sweat and only making this all harder to cope with.

"I don't-" You started speaking, closed eyes scrunched tight to avoid feeling anymore burning pain in them then you're already feeling. It stung, your vision was starting to fade around the corners and you were beginning to see black dots cloud your vision. Your throat, it hurt even worse. Coughing hurt so bad, but every few seconds you'd just go into another fit of violent coughing. Forcing you to move and jerk yourself forward, putting more of a strain on your wrists.

"You don't understand? Let me explain. I can teach you things I never taught your father. Killing you, yes it would hurt him. Torturing you? It would kill him. But do you know what would hurt him the most?" Coming closer to you, he speaks in a sickening tone. You can't even open your eyes to look at him at this point, it hurts so much just to move your eyes under the lids of them.

"You killing him."

Let me take control, this can be over with. You can live! Let me take control!
What are you waiting for?!? Embrace me!
You cannot honestly allow this man to do this to you. This is pathetic, if I was in control he'd already be dead.
LET ME SAVE YOU.

You can't even open your eyes, and moving is just too hard to do on your own. you're desperate, in pain, burning, aching, and bleeding.

Limply, you nod your head.

"Good choice, Constantine." Referring to you by your last name, he steps forwards on the opening of the circle and smudged the white chalk with the toe of his shoe. And as if by the instant he does so, the fire beneath you goes out. No need for water, and in a quick sound of a flare going off, your wrists feel limp.

Body limp, your wrists are untied and your body is left to brokenly fall to the floor below you, knees hitting against the metal box that once held the fire under a lid with holes. Falling on your side, hitting your ribs against a hard surface on the ground.

There was a quiet cracking sound, but you did not move.

Your eyes still remained closed, you lay limp on your side. Hair soaked in sweat and dirt sprawled out to your left if not sticking to your face. Sweat drenching your body, making the grey robe like gown stick to your body. Hugging to your skin in the most uncomfortable ways.

But you did not move.

"Up." He demanded, walking closer. He waits for a minute, and you can hear his breathing even from here.

"I said up." Theres a dark undertone in his voice, and after you refuse to move even still?

He sighs out of annoyance, and takes a step back. You still remain still, lying on the ground steadily breathing with closed eyes.

He steps forwards again, and there's a bit of a whooshing sound in the air as his foot swings from behind you and delivers a hard kick to the left side of your ribs, making you gasp out in pain as the impact sent your body flying right into the large metal box that's been heated by the fire underneath.

The light brown robe is turning a shade of dark red from where he kicked you, you didn't even notice at first. The feeling of blood starting to pool under you was mistaken for sweat at first, but when you slowly moved your hand there to check the answer became clear.

You're bleeding, a lot.

Back being pressed to the hot metal container, hand on your side.

Eyes opening.

The first thing you spot across the room is the pile of your clothes, the pocket mirror.

But the thing is? You're not the one in control of your actions.

**With Damian, arriving in gotham**

"Thomas Elliott. Father, this is a ridiculous idea. Why do you continue to trust this fool?" Robin standing next to Batman, in Arkham Asylum. Not a rare sight.

But what is a rare sight, is to see someone who looks exactly like Bruce Wayne in Arkham Asylum. Which is why only a select few are allowed to even know that this man is in Arkham. It's a good thing he keeps his face wrapped up, even the people who know Thomas Elliott is in Arkham, not all of them know of the similarities between himself and Bruce Wayne. Only one person knows, and the less they know? The better.

"Robin, go see Red Robin." Batman demands, pressing his hand against the door. about ready to enter. Refusing to say anything else, he won't answer to anything Robin retorts with about letting his father go into this cell with that maniac alone.

"Gross, he's with Constantine. I'm already working on rescuing (Y/n) from a distance, away from-"
"Robin. Now." Damian sharply exhales from his nose, shakes his head and sends a glare to his father before turning around. Walking with his arms swinging by his sides, almost stomping away.

He turns around to give one last look at his father, knowing it might be the last time he see's him for a while. Everything's been explained to him already. But for some reason? It slightly hurts him watching Batman enter the room, closing the door behind him and listening closely as a locking sound comes from the door. Sending an echo through the hallway.

He just stands there for a moment, but it dawns on him that he's wasting time. One more moment being sentimental means it's one more moment that you're missing, one more moment you're either being tortured or one more moment that it's likely you're already dead.

But this is his father. Going off with the rest of the Justice League to put a stop to an evil Superman from another universe. He doesn't understand, doesn't understand why Batman has to go when the rest of the league is going.

He's known about other universes, one time he had a long conversation with Barry the first time he visited the watchtower. It was after Damian was brought back with the chaos shard, that gave him temporary powers. He was apart of the justice league for close to 72 hours. He flew besides Wonder Woman and Superman. Yes, that was one time. And it was for a short time. And every time jon brings up that he's the son of Superman? Damian only retorts with the if he still had his powers from when he was revived with a chaos crystal, he'd kick the kid's ass.

Speaking of Jon, Damian has thought of maybe having him help with the case on you. Having Jon help would be incredible. Super hearing alone would be good enough, but there's a lot of costs to Jon using his powers that even he doesn't understand yet. He's also nearly two years younger than Damian, so he still doesn't know how well he can trust Jon to be mature about all of this.

He even thought about getting the titans involved in this. But he already sent everyone on missions before hand, Cissie and Conner are working a covert case to try and infiltrate the Kobra group to see what the mystery ingredient they're putting in their drugs is. Jon and Jaime are working together to try and track where they're pedalling it besides Gotham, Demetria and Mar'i and Raven are still at the tower. Raven hasn't been out of wherever John got her out of for long, she's still getting used to everything. Mar'i is still trying to get her memories back, and Demetria refuses to do anything until she understands what's happened to her. Bart is dealing with his own problems, something about another speedster. He hasn't said much, but Damian took note that he seemed pretty shaken up about it.

Everyone is busy and he only has himself to blame for it, but Koriand'r agreed to work with Dick. Jason and Roy, as always, have been working together. Oliver even came down, much to roy's dismay. But it was mostly just to punch John in the face. He spoke with John, and then told him that he'd look over Star city for any sign of you. Damian is unsure, but there's a history between Oliver and John that concerns you? He'll look into it later, but it was nice seeing someone punch John.

Not everyone is working on finding you, despite how worried and urgent Damian feels about it. Roy and Jason are working together in Gotham due to the fact that Batman isn't here right now. Bruce is getting things together to make it so he can leave without any real problems.

Such as Thomas Elliott standing in for Bruce Wayne.
Attempting to convince Dick to take up the Batman mantle again, even if it's temporary. Dick hasn't given an answer, but he shut Bruce out pretty quickly. Jason's back in gotham, Koriand'r left the outlaws to help with the titans. Which really does just leave Jason and Roy.

John, Damian, Dick, Tim and Koriand'r are the main ones working on finding you. Koriand'r is searching all over Gotham with Dick, as Starfire and Nightwing. Because she has enhanced strength, and can fly, it makes it easier for the two of them to get around.

Tim and John are at your home, where Damian has been told that Colin and one of your friends showed up. Colin and his pathetic excuse for a 'Dynamic Duo' are working with John and Tim, after she had shot John. Damian knows he shouldn't wish this, but he honestly hoped that when hearing this story? The bullet had done more than graise his shoulder.

"Stupid Constantine, Stupid Wilkes and his stupid girlfriend." Robin mutters, reffering to Lea as Colin's girlfriend in the moment because he still doesn't exactly know how to address her. The only time she's seen him was once at your house, and she had given him a lop sided smile and whipped up a peace sign. Greeting him in a loud 'Suhh, dude.' Something he doesn't quite understand.

"Are you lost?" Robin stops walking and looks to the voice that spoke to him, an adult male. Turning around in the dimly lit hallway of Arkham Asylum, he makes eye contact with a guard.

He's holding a gun, pointing it downwards. Damian can see that he has the safety on, and he doesn't really seem like many of the other guards in this place. The guard he's looking at is wearing a bulletproof vest under an Arkham security uniform, and he has a special badge that he knows is more important than other badges here. It gives these select few more access.

He's one of the guards that stays outside of the Joker's cell.

"Oh- sorry. I uh, only saw you from behind. Carry on." The guard notices that it's robin, and drops the accusing look. Robin takes this into account, He's seen this man before. Isn't he-?

"Your safety is on." Once the name comes to mind, he's been made aware that this man is your step father. He honestly had no idea that your step dad worked in Arkham. If he knew before hand, he'd probably be more careful around the place and avoid being seen by him.

"Yeah, I know. I'll only turn the safety off if I need to. I don't see the point, it's not like I'm going to shoot anyone here right now." Shrugging his shoulders, the man raises an eyebrow before speaking to the young vigilante. Totally unaware of the fact that this boy before him has a somewhat complicated relationship with his daughter. Ah, if only he knew. Damian bets that the safety on the gun would come off and he'd have a bullet in his shoulder, or something.

"Most guards don't see it the same as you. I've heard stories in here, guards abusing their privileges of being so close to these maniacs." Robin smirks, crossing his arms and giving the Security guard a look. Yes, he agrees that some of these people in here deserve what they get and then some. Damian can't say he's totally innocent, after all he did come back here to beat up the joker with a crowbar not long after he had become Robin. Something that involved Jason.

"Yeah, I heard 'em too. I work with someone like that, this place is supposed to be a mental help facility-"
"That's only a lie fed to the public. But whatever you believe, if it helps you sleep at night? I don't care." Damian still refuses to believe that this place is a mental help facility. Most of the people in here belong in blackgate, a jail. Not in some asylum where they're just babied all the time.

"So..I know I probably shouldn't be asking this, because I know you guys have your hands full and everything. But is Batman doing anything about my daughter? She's been missing for a while, her name's-"

"(Y/n) (L/n). We're working on it." There's a pained look on his face the moment he looks down, and as if on instinct your step father notices the change in emotion.

"The police-"

"I'm not supposed to say anything. But I can promise you, your daughter is going to be safe."

**Later.**

Damian only hopes as much as he can that you have the pocket mirror on you, because along with a two way radio device?

It's also a tracker.

But he doesn't expect it to go off the moment he takes the R off of his chest, the bright image of a beacon brightening and dimming down and repeating the loud beeping sound over and over again.

It's you trying to contact him.

His heart stops the moment he answers the com, the image is from a higher point as if you had activated it from a distance by throwing something at it.

At first, he can't believe what his eyes are seeing.

"(Y/n)?" He mumbles out loud, seeing you covered in blood from a distance being carried over someone's shoulder, only to be hoisted back up on a large wooden post.

You're yelling something, he can't make out the words and it doesn't even sound english. You're kicking your feet, screaming and yelling while blood continues to drip down your face and arms.

You're not yelling in english, and when he hears something loud and clear? It's like someone's just hit him upside the head with a hammer.

It's in Arabic. The first language Damian was ever taught. And it's as if you know he's listening, staring directly at the lense on the pocket mirror even from this distance. you don't seem you, though. Damian can visibly tell there's something...off.

"We are going to begin. She won't cooperate, she's had her chance." The man in front of you is speaking, and Damian waits for the location to appear on the batcomputer where you're at. Anxiously, and nervously.

"Drake, come to the cave. Now." He presses his hand against a button on his green gauntlet, signalling Tim to come to the cave as he almost as a location to where you're at.

"You've been wasting my time, Nicholas. You better not have been lying to me. You'll regret it, and pay with your life."

He freezes, and drops his domino mask in his hand onto the ground.

"Grandfather?" He mumbles, eyes growing wide after hearing the second voice on the com.
