Chapter 9

"As roommates, we need to establish some rules in this house."

Jungkook announced to a very unamused Lily who looked like she would rather be anywhere but here.

They are currently at the living room of Lily's apartment which is barely a living room. The only thing that is in this living room is one mattress and an old ass television that no one uses. Lily is half sitting on the mattress with her back against the wall and Jungkook is sitting across her with a notepad in his hand.

"Jungkook, I'm trying to relax,"Lily said.

Jungkook completely disregarded that,"Here, I've written down a few rules. You shall follow them henceforth, negotiations are not allowed."

Lily shook her head slowly but took the notepad to see what he's written down.

Jungkook kept looking at her. Writing down these rules were also an excuse to lighten up the mood a bit. The mood of this house is always weird, but ever since last night, after she asked him to find his father the mood of this house has been way weirder. Her expression was colder than normal. She didn't talk at all the whole day, only stayed in her room listening to music, barely replied to him. Her phone had been ringing continuously, Doyoung has been calling, she didn't pick up the phone for once. Just let it ring. She hasn't even eaten anything. She seemed to be deep in thoughts and Jungkook think whatever she's thinking is a very hard topic for her. Jungkook doesn't like this one bit.

So he came up with this plan to talk to her because he hates this atmosphere. He feels like after years he found someone to talk to, he doesn't want to be back to being silent and bored again. So he came up with these set of rules to take her mind off of whatever was bothering her.

Lily frowned seeing what was written on the notepad.

Jungkook smiled. It was probably working. At least he got her to react to something.

"Jungkook, are you insane?"Lily asked looking up at him.

He quickly hid his smile and raised his eyebrows.

Lily read the points out loud,"No killing in this house? Bitch? Where else am I supposed to.."

"That's your problem. You didn't have any problem getting rid of that Chulsoo guy outside. Find another damn place."

Lily couldn't believe it but she read the next rule out,"No putting dead bodies in the closet? Bitch, I rented this house solely because of the damn closet and.."

"Listen, unlike what you believe..sharing the closet space with a corpse is not fun. So no from now on."

Lily shook her head in disbelief but read the next rule,"Going to the grocery? Eating at least one edible, healthy meal a day...what the actual fuck? And how does this have anything to do with you?"

"I'm not talking about you, I'm talking about me. I wanna eat and the only thing you buy from the grocery store is frozen food, beer and a shit ton of bleach. Well..the bleach isn't used for eating purposes but do you know how unappetizing that triangle kimbap you eat on the daily looks? You could at least buy ramen? Even that would be healthier that that.."

"Listen..before I came, you didn't eat shit, did you? So now why.."

"Because now you're here, and you're my so called partner. So.."Jungkook shrugged, pretty happy that he got to get her to taste her own medicine. She gets him to do everything just cause they are 'partners'.

Lily shook her head,"And tell you everything about my plan beforehand before going to a mission?"

"I think that's fair, I don't want to make a fool of myself like I did last time during Chulsoo. And also we are partners, right partner?"Jungkook smiled cheekily.

Lily put the notepad down and looked straight at him,"I really really didn't know devils could lose their marbles."

"I didn't lose my mind. I'm your roommate and your partner. So be considerate and follow these rules from now on."

Lily sighed and mumbled,"I can't believe this."

Jungkook smiled from ear to ear. She is the one who always annoys and shocks him.

Oh how the tables have turned!

"Jungkook, I'm not doing any of this. And guess what? You can't do anything to me,"Lily smirked.

"I can't do anything to you?"

Lily nodded,"You can neither kill me, nor hurt me because of the bond we formed. So sorry but no sorry."

Oh, you think you're so smart, don't you?

This time Jungkook smirked,"Do you think killing is the only way I can get you to follow these rules?"

Lily raised her eyebrows.

"Cause unlike someone I have a lot of tricks up my sleeve to get someone to listen to me."

"What are you gonna do?"

Jungkook's smirk grew larger. The scene became tense. Lily was breathing slowly, waiting for his response. Jungkook took his time to response, torturing her intentionally.

"I will...break your precious vinyl records."

Jungkook knows it sounds silly but he knows it is gonna work in her case. She is awfully attached to the records and those are the only nice things in this house. Those are the only things in this house that she treasures.

Lily tried to act calm. Jungkook smirked knowing he hit the right place. His observation powers aren't going bad after all.

"You wouldn't dare,"Lily said.

"Try me,"Jungkook challenged while raising his eyebrow.

Lily also raised her eyebrow as they both stared intensely at each other's eyes for quite sometime before they both instantly got up and ran to the bedroom.

Jungkook was faster to get to the records and held them close to him and looked at Lily who was a feet in front of him and smiled in victory,"One wrong move and I'm gonna break your precious records."

Jungkook was glad he could guess what might happen next and ran quicker than Lily and be the first one to grab the records.

"Jungkook, keep them down, let's talk like civilized human..wait you're not..let's talk normally okay?"

"I have nothing to talk about, go sign the notepad and I will let them go."

"Oh hell no."

"Then say bye bye to them,"Jungkook said and he pretended to drop them.

"No WAIT, wait.."Lily said,"I will..I will sign it."

Jungkook smiled and nodded,"Go on."

Lily sighed and went to the living room and signed the paper in front of Jungkook and showed it to him,"So we're done, right? Let em go."

Jungkook inspected the paper and then slowly kept the records back in their place. Lily quickly went to see if any of the records got scratched or broke. Thankfully they didn't.

When she came out of her room she saw Jungkook sticking the paper with the rules to the refrigerator. She frowned,"What are you doing?"

Jungkook smiled,"Making sure you don't forget them. Oh? I forgot to add another rule!"Jungkook took the pen and started scribbling something on the paper that was attached to the refrigerator.

"Hey, I already signed that. This is illegal!"

"Look who's talking about legality and illegality,"Jungkook said while writing down the rule.

"Cruel bitch,"Lily commented under her breath.

"Your partner after all,"Jungkook retorted back.

Lily sighed and walked towards him and the refrigerator. Lily stood beside him while he wrote and looked carefully.

Jungkook smiled satisfied, when he was done writing.

Beside him, Lily read,"Having a decent dinner together everyday? What the hell?"

Jungkook nodded,"As you'd already have to get grocery for me..you might as well bring enough for two and we can have dinner together."

"Why would I do that?"

"Because I'm concerned about you."

"Huh?"

Jungkook turned his head to Lily, who was already looking at him. Their faces were just inches apart. So close. Jungkook's heart suddenly bounced as he didn't accept her to be this close. But he said regardless.

"Well, you're my partner, so I can't let you die so easily by eating that damn triangle kimbap and beer everyday, can I?"

Lily sighed. She was the one who stepped away from the mildly uncomfortable closeness they had.

"You're insane,"Lily said and went in her room. Jungkook stood there adoring his creation on the fridge. And thankfully Lily's intense cold demeanor was breaking. She was probably feeling better.

Lily had come out of her room with her wallet and jacket.

"Where are you going so suddenly?"Jungkook asked.

"Grocery store, since you are so so disappointed in my choice of meals and are a choosing beggar."

She looked like she needed some fresh air. It would help her.

Jungkook smiled,"Imma come with you!"

Lily shrugged. Jungkook wasn't sure what her feeling about him tagging alone was. But he kind of disregarded that and tagged along happily anyway.

Bringing Jungkook along with her was definitely a bad idea. That's what Lily was thinking as she was pushing a heavy ass shopping cart in a big ass convenience store with a overly excited Jungkook running around the store, pointing at things he's never seen before, asking them what those are and putting whatever he likes in the cart without her permission. Seeing Jungkook running around a convenience store so happily made him look like a little child in a toy section of the mall.

Lily tried to stop him as the cart was overflowing and there was no point of buying so much food and snacks but all he did was smirk and reminded her about her precious records. That made Lily shut up and watch as he filled the cart with random food items he wanted to try.

Lily wanted to smack him a couple of times since he created that stupid roommate rule list with those set of horrendous rules, threatened her to destroy her records and now is blowing her cash as if it's his own but at least because of Jungkook she can finally get her mind off him. He had been on her mind since yesterday and she absolutely hated it. Whenever this happens she feels like shit for at least a couple of days, but now she feels so much better because she has more stuff to think about thanks to Jungkook. So she didn't say anything and just watched him happily do whatever he wants while she watches him.

After Jungkook was finally done, she was super unamused by the random items that he picked. All the different kinds of ramen the store offered, one box of banana milk, one box of kombucha, tons of chips and snacks, sausages, cheese balls, some vegetables, a lot of eggs, Star and moon shaped cereal, fruits, kimchi bread and the list goes on.

Didn't we just come to get ramen?

The checkout took about twenty minutes and Lily almost had a heart attack when she saw the grand total of the items. She turned to see Jungkook and he was smiling like a devil.

Does this bitch think I'm Jeff Bezos or something?

But she paid it anyway and they got out of the store with five full bags of grocery.

Lily was done. She didn't know where they are gonna store all these things, why she even bought them and what they're gonna do with so many things. But Jungkook was all giddy and ecstatic. Which wasn't bad to see. It's kind of amusing how a small trip to a convenience store can make him so happy.

"Lily, hurry up!"Jungkook shouted from the living room,"It'll get cold!"

"I'm trying,"Lily shouted as she rolled her eyes. Simultaneously she also flipped the eggs she was frying on the pan. It sounds unbelievable that she was currently in her kitchen, frying eggs, using the only frying fan she has that she never thought she would use. She never thought she would be doing this. How long has it been since she has cooked something? More than ten years?

Jungkook was waiting in the living room with the ramen they made a few minutes ago and kimchi they bought from the store. Lily suddenly thought it would be a good idea to eat fried eggs as well and was now making them.

She turned the stove off as the eggs were done and suddenly reality hit her as she stopped what she was doing and frowned.

Wait, why the fuck am I doing this?

I am Lilith.

I shouldn't be doing this.

This makes no sense. Why is she suddenly acting so out of character?

What am I doing this for?

Right that moment Jungkook entered the kitchen and stood beside her. His words cut her train of thoughts.

"Oh! They look so delicious!"Jungkook said while smiling. He slowly lifted the pan and told her,"Let's go!"

He took a few steps ahead but she didn't. When he felt her not moving, he turned around and raised his eyebrows,"Why aren't you coming? The food would get cold!"

Lily still didn't move.

Jungkook shook his head and held the end of her sleeve suddenly. That made Lily feel some weird type of way and she looked at him.

He just smiled and mouthed,"Let's go."

He then slowly pulled her by her sleeve to the living room. He had set up all the food on the floor with the lack of any table in the house. They had managed to find a pot to cook the ramen in, and also a few small bowls and plates which again Lily didn't ever think she would use. But somehow Jungkook had made the setting look decent and appetizing.

Jungkook also put the frying pan down and pulled Lily down to sit across him.

He quickly pulled up ramen with chopsticks and gave her in a small bowl. He then helped himself with some and dug in.

Lily didn't eat at first as the questions from earlier were bothering her. But seeing Jungkook eat so deliciously, she felt a bit hungry.

"This is the best thing ever!"Jungkook said while taking a bite of the kimchi,"Hey, are you not hungry?"

"Well.."

"Come on, eat up!" Jungkook said while handing her the chopsticks.

"I don't feel like eating,"Lily said. Exactly then her stomach decided to embarrass her badly and growled loudest it has ever growled.

Jungkook smiled,"Eat up, Lily."

Lily sighed. For the first time in her life she decided to throw away the questions she had in her mind, put them in the back burner and started eating the ramen. She wasn't ever a fan of ramen. But today it tasted insanely good. Jungkook smiled while seeing her take a bite. He also started a conversation about where they should store the shit ton of groceries they bought. Lily made it clear there that she was not happy with the amount of grocery they brought and they started bickering about the groceries and the rules while eating till their stomachs were full.

The conversation wasn't something very important. But it made Lily completely forget the questions she had and get immersed completely in the conversation.

The food wasn't much, just simple ramen, fried eggs and kimchi. But it made that Lily's place smell like a normal home for the first time in years.

Now that is a big change.

Jungkook had again woken up on the clouds. It took him a few seconds to register what was going on around him, before he finally took his surroundings in, turned around to his right and said,"How could you, hyung?"

Seokjin just smiled. Jungkook was infuriated. This was the first time he was seeing Seokjin since he pulled that stunt of making him sign the bond with Lily by controlling him. Jungkook totally didn't want that. And he is still heavily angry on Seokjin for what he did.

"No really, how could you? What kind of sick, disgusting person can do that? Do you not know what kind of person Lily is and what kind of shit I would have to go through and see because of her? I totally didn't sign up for that, how could you do this to me hyung? You? Out of all the people? Aren't you supposed to know me the best? I thought you knew my values, reasoning and feelings. I trusted you, hyung!"

Seokjin kept smiling like an elder listening to a child's whining. He patiently waited for Jungkook to be done and asked,"Are you done?"

Jungkook stopped and took a deep breath while turning away,"Yes I am, why did you call me here?"

"I'm sorry for what I did, but trust me I did it for your best."

"That bullshit again,"Jungkook sighed.

"Jungkook-ah, trust me. I know way more than you know about this whole situation and Lily. You two are fated."

"What kind of bullshit even is that? You had been saying that since the last time, how am I fated in this situation with her?"Jungkook looked at him,"The least you could do is tell me."

Seokjin smiled,"I can't do that right now, Jungkook."

"Why? What's happening? What're y'all planning?.."

Seokjin completely disregarded that and asked,"So are your powers increasing?"

Jungkook sighed, knowing very well he wouldn't be able to get an answer out of  Seokjin,"Yes."

"Amazing!"Seokjin smiled,"Soon you'll be able to come back home. I'm excited for that, Kook-ah."

Jungkook sighed.

"And I once again am sorry,"Seokjin said while patting his back.

"I know what you did is for my own good but hyung..I wish you had let me decide."

Seokjin patted his hair,"Will you be able to forgive your rash hyung?"

Jungkook didn't reply. Both knew the answer. There was no way Jungkook could stay angry at him for any longer.

"Hyung?" Jungkook called.

"Yes?"

"You know a lot about Lily, right?"

"Yes, I do."

Jungkook then looked at him,"Then do you know who her father is? She seems to hate her father. Who is he and where is he? And why does she despise him so much?"

Jungkook could see the sudden shift in Seokjin's eyes. He seemed visibly anxious,"I knew this was coming."

"Hyung?"

"Jungkook-ah.."

"Hyung, What happened?"

"That man..her father might be the reason behind Lily being like this. "

"What? Why?"

"And she asked you to find him? It's gonna be hard, taken into consideration the fact that he also has a bond with a devil. And Lily is a threat to him, so the devil won't let her find him so easily."

Jungkook frowned,"Her dad has a bond with a devil?"

Seokjin nodded,"And thanks to her dad, that devil is the astonishingly powerful."

Jungkook was hella confused,"Hyung, I don't understand a single thing you're saying. Are you trying to tell me that her dad has a bond with a devil and because of her dad's sins the devil is hella powerful? What kind of sins does he even commit?"

"Jungkook-ah?"Seokjin slowly rested his hands on the clouds and leaned on them while looking up,"What do you think is the worst sin? And what sinner do you deem as the worst sinner?"

Jungkook frowned at the sudden question,"Worst sin?"

Seokjin nodded,"Assault? Abuse? Stealing? Torturing? Human trafficking? Organ selling? Money laundering? Hurting others for your own pleasure? Kidnapping? Getting off on other's pain? Force prostitution? Murder?"

"Wow..those are some heavy sets of crimes there.."

Seokjin chuckled,"I could go on. So tell me..which one do you think is the worst crime? And which criminal do you think is the worst?"

Jungkook frowned at the question,"All of them are horrible, hyung. Whoever commits any of them is beyond horrible."

Seokjin chuckled,"The irony!"

"Huh?"

Seokjin looked at Jungkook and asked seriously,"Kook-ah, what would you say about the person that commits all of these crimes and more just for pleasure?"

"What are you talking about? There cannot be a person like that.."

Seokjin smiled. The next words that came out of Seokjin's mouth shocked Jungkook to his core.

"Lily's father...is exactly like that."

For the first time ever, Jungkook felt like he understood Lily a bit.

Jungkook now understands what she meant when she said all the crimes doesn't faze her anymore because she has seen worse, been with the worst.

He thinks he finally understands why she's so twisted.
