Chapter 7

When Jungkook was created, did he ever think that such a day would come where he would be in a police station tampering with evidence just because of a human?

No, he didn't.

But that is exactly what is happening right now. He is in an evidence room of a police station, swapping up Lily's dna sample with who knows whose dna Doyoung gave Lily, just before the samples were about to be examined.

Lily had sent him there to prove her that he's really her partner now and that their bond is legit. She even attached a small camera on his shirt that is recording everything he's doing and Lily is watching that footage live to make sure he is actually doing his job.

Making a bond with Lily gave Jungkook a huge increase of power and abilities. Now he can teleport to places, move around and do a lot of other things. He wanted to do all of that for the longest time. He can now do all of it. But at what cost?

Jungkook sighed as he was done doing his absolutely ridiculous job and teleported out of the station without getting caught and to the nearby lonely spot where Lily was at. She was sitting on top of a brick wall of a lonely alleyway not far from the police station, monitoring Jungkook's moves in the police station through the live video on her phone. When she saw Jungkook magically appear in front of her she turned her phone off, jumped down and casually dusted off imaginary dust off of Jungkook's shoulder,"You did well!"

She is acting like she sees people appear in front of her out of thin air on the daily. Seems like Jungkook is having a harder time adjusting with his own powers than she is.

Does nothing shock her ever?

"Here's your DNA sample,"Jungkook said as he handed Lily the small box that held the qtip with her dna.

"You did amazing on your first job, partner,"Lily said,"You seemed like a natural."

Jungkook rolled his eyes and Lily put the box in her pocket. Then she looked at him,"Now let's go."

"Where?"

"To places,"Lily winked and walked ahead.

Jungkook didn't like where this was going. She was definitely gonna take him to one of her shenanigans again and he really doesn't want to be a part of that. But what can he do?

He sighs before following her hopelessly.

I blame all of it on Seokjin hyung.

It's been a long while before he could roam around freely in the city of Seoul. Or anywhere to be honest. Lily seemed to know it. She was walking in all of the most crowded and busiest streets of Seoul. Jungkook once might've mentioned to Lily during their late night banters that he liked busy streets. Because they are full of life and people. It is always so interesting to see people from different walks of life walk around, chitchat, do their thing in the streets. Lily probably doesn't even remember that. But she had also mentioned that she liked crowned streets because she could usually disappear in the crowd of a lot of different people and no one would ever suspect a thing. She can get away with anything if she mixes herself with the crowd. That's why she also likes crowded spaces.

Such a Lily thing to say, I guess!

Jungkook was looking around the big buildings, huge shopping mall, big billboards with picture of celebrities endorsing items that you would never want to buy if not for the celebrity, smell of food from the street stalls, fluorescent lights, everything. All of it seemed so fun to Jungkook. So fun that he didn't mind walking silently beside Lily who was in her own world. As if she forgot he was actually walking with her. He figured that she is probably used to walking alone and does not know what to say when she's walking with someone else. He let her be.

They finally talked when they passed the big street of Gangnam and entered a small alleyway. Jungkook broke the silence first,"Where are we actually going?"

Lily was pulled out of her trail of thoughts but she didn't answer his question. She said instead,"Did you have fun?"

"Huh?"

"Didn't you tell me you like big streets?"

Jungkook raised his eyebrows,"You remembered?"

Lily shrugged while smirking.

Jungkook doesn't know why that made him feel weird. The fact that she remembered it made this situation different. A part of Jungkook also started hoping that she took him there because he liked big streets and didn't talk to him there to let him have his fun. He knows he is already stretching a small question Lily asked but it's been awhile since someone cared for him. He wants to believe that she did it for him out of the weird roommate and partner dynamic they currently have.

Lily had finally brought him to a very small, secluded chicken restaurant in the alleyway. The restaurant was simple, there was nothing eye catching or different about it. The lights were dimly lit, a bored old man was sitting at the cash register and an old woman was cleaning the tables, only a few people were there enjoying chicken and beer and going over their days and how bad it was.

Lily quickly settled down on a table in a corner and Jungkook followed her and stood by the table while observing the surroundings. Lily looked at him and asked,"Why aren't you sitting down?"

"Huh? Oh.."Jungkook took a seat across her and as soon as he did Lily looked at the old woman and shouted,"Halmoni? Two servings of friend chicken and two beers please!"

"Coming right up!"The old woman answered.

Lily finally brought her attention to Jungkook and said after thinking something,"Oh, I ordered in your stead, you can eat human food, can't you? Or do you eat some shit like blood or whatever."

Jungkook laughed,"I'm not a vampire, Lily, I'm a demon. We can eat human food."

Lily clapped,"That's great. I heard this place has great chicken. So we gotta try before this place gets famous."

Jungkook nodded. Feeling really happy. Having these small experiences brings him happiness.

Lily asked while tapping her fingers against the table a bit impatiently,"So do vampires exist?"

Jungkook wondered if the chicken was that good that she was this impatient. But he just chuckled and said,"I can't tell you that, you already know too much about the other realms."

Lily narrowed her eyes,"They do, don't they? Are they as handsome as they say? Can you introduce me to one?"

Jungkook chuckled again,"Why?"

"Humans are boring, I want me one vampire daddy."

That made Jungkook cough and Lily smirk. Good thing he didn't have food in his mouth.

"Lily.."

"So do angels exist?"

"Huh? They do."

"Do they wear those long white gowns and tiaras and walk elegantly in the garden of heaven while reading a book?"

"That's an oddly specific question,"Jungkook said as he thought how to answer her weird ass question,"Umm.. they do wear long white dresses, tiaras I'm not sure of and I don't know if they walk in the garden of heaven while reading a book cause I've never been to heaven and I don't think they'll ever let me in. And I was never really interested in what angels do in their free time."

Lily nodded,"So we wouldn't ever know the answer to that cause they wouldn't let me in either."

Jungkook didn't try to disagree cause he knows it's true. Lily knows it too.

"Where did you even find that weird scenario?"

"Oh, one of the aunts where I grow up once told me the story of an angel and she used to do that. That story kind of stuck with me. So I wondered if real angels did it too."

Jungkook nodded, understanding.

"That aunt..she was a real one,"Lily said while thinking about something in her past. Jungkook thought she was having good memories about that aunt but soon her face distorted a bit as if she were having a very bad memory.

She quickly snapped out and looked at Jungkook who was about to ask if she was okay,"These days I keep getting stupid flashbacks."

"What flash.."

Lily cut him off, clearly not wanting to talk about what she just thought about,"Anyway...so are all angels good? And all devils bad?"

The next thirty minutes passed with her asking a lot of questions about the other world, other realms. Jungkook was a bit amused by her sudden interest in the other world. But he tried his best to answer all of her questions and quench her curiosity. In midst of their small chitchat the old lady came with their food and served it.

Jungkook was salivating just smelling the crispy beautifully chicken. The taste was also amazing. Demons don't have to eat to live. Eating, sleeping, breathing isn't necessary for them. But seeing this chicken raised such hunger in him that he hadn't felt ever. The chicken's taste felt awesome. Jungkook couldn't believe that the humans invented such things as fried chicken and the hell didn't have it.

And the beer with chicken felt just right.

"Chicken and beer is the best combo in the world,"Lily said munching on her drumstick and then taking a sip of the beer.

Jungkook nodded but then they went back to their chit chat, they talked and listened while eating and drinking. Lily seemed genuinely interested in what he had to say.

Listening to him talking while chewing her chicken, her cheeks became full like a hamster and her eyes went big when he said something interesting, Jungkook found that adorable. She seemed like a kid listening to an adult about their adventures.

Seeing her like that, Jungkook had one thought.

Maybe just maybe Lily isn't as bad as I thought...

Just then Lily widened her eyes while looking at something behind Jungkook. The entrance of the restaurant was behind Jungkook and Lily could see it. Jungkook frowned wondering what made her suddenly so interested. He was about to look behind him but Lily stopped him,"Don't look back, he's finally arrived."

"Who?"

"My..our next target,"Lily said with a smirk.

....or not.

Jungkook sighed. He was changing his opinion on her too quickly.

"So we're here to stalk that guy?"

"Of course, why else would we be here?"Lily asked.

Jungkook sighed again.

Again what did he even expect?

Jungkook slowly turned around sneakily to see a middle aged average adjusshi looking guy was sitting alone at a table and the old woman of the restaurant greeting him with a familiar smile. He perhaps is a regular here.

"Lee Chulsoo,"Lily mumbled,"He might be my funnest target yet!"

Jungkook frowned and looked at Lily because of the hint of excitement in her stone cold voice. What is there to be excited about this?

"What do you mean funnest target?"

Lily smirked and leaned closer to him and signed him to lean closer too. Jungkook obliged and leaned closer. Now Lily's face was just barely a few inches away from Jungkook's ear as she whispered the next words with a smirk. Jungkook was already flustered by how close they were and didn't know how to act and where to look when she was this close, but the next words she said made his eyes widen.

"He's a serial killer."

"Huh What?"Jungkook whisper yelled.

Lily was amused by his reaction. She said not moving an inch from where she was,"How do you think a serial killer versus another serial killer would look like? How do you think he'll react when he's being killed by another serial killer?" Lily chuckled darkly in front of his ear,"I bet it's gonna be very fun to witness."

Lily's chuckle sent a shiver down Jungkook's spine. There is nothing humane about that chuckle. Nothing humane about the way she's excited about the reaction of her next victim.

"Lily..I.."

"And you'd be with me, by my side, Jungkook."

"What.."

Lily slowly moved from his ear and came in front of his face to stare directly in front of his eyes,"We're partners, remember? We share a bond."

Lily is having too much fun with this bond thing. Jungkook should've seen this coming. As Lily chuckled again, Jungkook shivered ever so slightly.

"Come on partner, I will let you experience my personal hell to make you feel closer to your home."

Then she leaned back and away from Jungkook's face and he could finally let out the breath he's been holding for a long time.

"Am I not such a good partner? Trust me you're gonna get a promotion in a very very short time."

With that Lily smirked and went back to drinking her beer and looking at Chulsoo once in awhile.

Something tells Jungkook that Lily meant every world she said and her personal hell would be worse to him than the actual hell is to humans.

A/N:

For the record guys! This chapter was written on August 30, 2021, before Niki decided to name himself Nishimura Chulsoo.

I tried to go for the most generic Korean male name for a middle aged adjusshi. And I'm lazy to switch up the name in the next chapter, Oops. This serial killer Chulsoo guy really has nothing to do with Niki. So if there are any Engenes reading this, don't come for me. I'm an Engene too!

Btw...if you're an Engene, whose you're bias guys? After doing a lot of contemplation I've come to the conclusion that Jake is probably my bias(Choosing a bias is hard guys, especially when Heeseung won't let anyone stay in their lane).

Also steam 'Blessed Cursed' And 'Polaroid Love' while you're at it!
