Chapter 32
Lily's father slowly opened his eyes.
It took him a little time to get adjusted to the lights. He felt weak and nauseous. He could not remember what happened before he passed out. All he could feel was pain on his left arm...well lack there of now.
When he completely opened his eyes he came face to face with his daughter who was hunched over in front of his face with a smirk on her face,"Had a good time sleeping, father?"
He immediately remembered all that happened before he passed out. Lin brought her here, thinking she would make a bond with him. So he ripped off his left wrist. Then she betrayed him and the boy she brought with him stabbed him to death.
Oh Lin!
That was stupid.
He never took Lin to be so stupid in their entire time of being together and that was decades. Lin claimed that he had observed him for quite a while and then approached him in his one roof apartment. He was just a construction worker then. He was really shocked by Lin appearing in front of him out of thin air, claiming to be a devil, claiming to wanting to be his partner and promising that he would never have to fear of police or anything in the afterlife. Lin also stated that he had seen him commit his last three murders and the look in his eyes made Lin immediately want to make a bond with him. And Lily's dad did. They made a bond and the rest was history.
So many things they did together! Well, mainly he did while Lin enabled him to do all of that and gained power from him sins.
To see his lifeless body lying on the other side of the room like that....was unfortunate. Such a foolish move on Lin's part. He had always Lin's 'fondness' towards his daughter. He always thought Lin saw what he saw in her. His daughter would live up to his name. Because she was just as psychotic as he was. But he was unaware of how deep Lin's obsession towards his daughter were. That was the great Lin's downfall. Lin was no more. That fact made him feel a little empty on the inside.
"Are you sad that your dear partner is gone?"Lily asked, mocking sadness,"Are you sad that you're going to be all alone burning in the deepest darkest corner of hell?"
Was he afraid of that? Yes.
He was born in a strictly religious household where the concept of hell and heaven were embedded deep into his mind. His mother and father were afraid of hell and did everything to make him afraid of it too. And it worked. He was scared of hell.
But fear doesn't stop a monster. He believed that he was a living proof of monsters aren't created, they're born. His parents were good citizens, normal people. Nothing about them was extraordinary. But he wasn't. He had no intention of being a good person. He hated his goody two shoes parents that didn't understand his innate feelings committing crime, wreck havoc, ruin others. That's why he was all the more excited when Lin gave him his hand after growing up. At least he won't have to worry about going to hell and police after committing all crimes he has ever wanted.
During childhood parents tired to hard to 'fix' him when they found him experimenting killing living animals as a preteen. They weren't rich, but they tried everything. Doctors, priests, shamans...and so much more. That just made him angry. In the end, they couldn't fix him. Their fate was getting murdered in the hands of their own son. He remembers that those were his first ever murder. He barely remembers the face of his parents but he remembers the fear in their eyes towards their own son. They couldn't stop him. Oh the thrill he got from that!
It was their fault for giving birth to a monster and loving a monster.
He never thinks about them. Why is he thinking about them now? Is being so close to death making him come back to his roots?
He is sure he is going to die today. At the hand of his daughter. Lin is dead. She has tied him with actual ropes and is twirling a huge axe in her hand, he is weak and frail, there's no chance of him getting out of this situation.
Especially not when his daughter looks so confident, strong, vengeful and mostly....dangerous.
He had always known that his daughter was special. Just like him. With enough training she could become his ally in his crime. He even had a vision of her growing up and her becoming just like him and them going on 'adventures' together. But alas. Her feelings for her mother and brother took over her and she ran away from his care with them while freeing all of his hostages.
Feelings do weird things to people.
He had tried to find his daughter so many times after that night, even asked Lin for help to find her, but he refused so many times. Now he knows why, Lin was so obsessed with her that he wanted her all to himself. Not even wanting to share with her father.
Selfish little prick.
"You seem to be deep in thought," Lily said smiling as she suddenly sling the axe and shoved it on his left thigh. A scream of pain escaped his lips in the sudden and casual blow from his daughter.
He looked around the floor, it was littered with all sorts of torture devices from his own 'torture room' that he created in this very building and used on every resident of this facility. This axe was also his. Was she planning on using all of them on him?
"So father, Lin had told me something interesting,"Lily said tilting her head,"You wanted me to be your heir to all your bullshit and inherit everything bad trait that you have. Is that true?"
He snorted even though he was in pain,"Is it?"
Lily nodded,"Sadly the monster you wanted to create would be the end of you."
He once again chuckled. That intensified his pain,"Oh, you're not."
"What does that mean?"
"You have feelings, Yerim-ah. For Soobin, for your mother and for that fellow over there,"He said as he pointed at the devil sitting on the dresser behind Lily, that had stabbed Lin before he passed out,"You're not a monster. You're a failure."
That made Lily laugh, like a maniac. She knows all too well that he is doing it to provoke her. He figured that if he is going to get killed, why give the murderer satisfaction?
"I guess you're right,"She said and then pointed at the handsome guy behind her,"That guy. He's your son-in-law. Isn't it every father's dream to see his daughter with a guy that treats her right? I found him."
That guy saluted him cooly with his two fingers but only his eyes showed hatred towards him,"It's Jungkook."
Lily chuckled,"In a way, you're the reason I got to meet him, make a bond with him, fall in love and be happy. Crazy, right?"
"You fell in love? That too a devil?"He asked mildly amused,"You would think years of torture inflicted on your loved ones to be enough to keep one away from falling in 'love'. But what do I say? You're as useless as your mother. If not, you wouldn't be doing it to me right now."
And she laughed, manically. His words weren't affecting him anymore. She was just amused. She even clapped in amazement,"You know what, father? I pity you. You wouldn't understand what love is anyway. I pity you truly. If you had felt it, you would've ever
Love?
Such a foreign word to him.
He leaned back in his chair. His vision was once again getting blurry from the blood loss. Has he ever felt love? Towards his parents? Towards his children? Towards his friends? Towards Yerim and Soobin's mom? Probably not.
Even though he felt something towards Soobin and Yerim's mom. Her beauty captivated him. That's why he took her from the streets. He kept her here. In his life, he has seen so many women, in Korea and even in other countries. But till this date he has never seen someone even come close to her beauty. But her innocence was the reason he kept her all to himself. Selfless, innocent, pure, beautiful voice, he could go on about her good virtues forever. He had some sort of feelings for her. But love that was not. Maybe he felt the same feelings towards her that Lin had towards his daughter?
Now that he is here, in this state he kind of misses her. He has to admit he wasn't very happy when she passed away. His toy was taken away from him. That too by his own daughter. Unacceptable. He closed his eyes and remembered her. He hadn't thought about her for so long. Bang Mira was her name. Bang Mira.
What would she do if she were alive today? Would she side with her daughter or stop her from killing her own father due to Stockholm syndrome? He was hoping for the latter.
"Father?"Lily called.
He slowly opened his eyes and looked at Lily. The more he looked at her the more he realized she looks so much like her mother. So ethereally beautiful. He left out a sigh when he realized that.
"Do you have anything to say before we start? An apology maybe? To humanity?"Lily asked,"To everyone you've wronged? Soobin? Doyoung? Me? My mom?"
He wanted to laugh at the ridiculous question. Never in his life has he ever apologized to anyone. But the pain on his thigh and hand was too much to laugh,"Apologize? The only thing I would like to apologize is for letting you little brats run away."
Lily shook her head in disapproval,"I mean, what did I even expect?"
Then she crouched down on the floor, the devil behind her watching every step she takes. She picked up a pair of pliers,"Oh this is going to be the best day of my life."
She then looked at him, smiling,"Shall we start?"
He just knew the next few hours are going to be hell.
And hell they were. Lily was having so much fun, experimenting with so many tools. She seemed experienced, ruthless and vengeful. He saw his daughter laugh as he was screaming in pain. He tried to not scream, not giving her the satisfaction. But he couldn't help it. He was helpless. In the hands of his perpetrator. He understood what his parents must've felt when he killed them. How his victims must've felt. Even a few years ago if anyone told him this is how helpless he would become in front of his daughter, he probably would've laughed at their face and then killed them for entertainment. But now, this was his reality. The invincible him, was losing in front of a little girl.
With the more limbs he lost, the more delusions started working in him. He was unable to understand anything. He couldn't think. He couldn't do anything. He just knew death was near and there was no mercy. Not from his daughter, not from God.
At one point she asked him,"So..why did you do all of this? What was the point? Why did you kill so many people? Hurt so many people?"
He couldn't properly talk, but another stab from her axe inflicted enough fear in him. He thought about the answer. Why exactly did he do all of this? After wondering for a few seconds he spoke the only answer he could think about and thought was the truth,"For fun."
She laughed. Manically. And the came more pain. She had no plan of making this easy for him. He felt every pain of every victim he ever felt.
He didn't know how much time passed by. Only the pain felt real. Only the inhumane torture felt real. Right before he was dying, his daughter came and hunched over his face,"Father, you are about to leave the world. I just realized, I don't know your name. What is your real name."
His real name? He hasn't heard anyone call him that for so long. He always gave fake names. Afraid of people finding his roots. Afraid of people finding him. He changed his name in his lifetime. His real name always felt so personal to him. A secret only he knew. Well..Lin knew it too. So did Lily's mother. He didn't know why he told her his real name. Maybe he did have some feelings for her that were not as sinister as the others.
As he was leaving the world, he wanted to leave this secret behind. There was no point of keeping it a secret anymore anyway. And as he was dying, he felt this weird desperation of wanting someone to call his name.
"Choi....Yenan. It's...Choi...Yenan."
Lily smiled,"Well, Mr.Choi Yenan, it's your time to say goodbye to the beautiful world. You shall not be missed."
Yenan swore that moment Lily looked so much like Mira. She was smiling in front of him, her usual innocent smile. He didn't know if it was a delusion of a dying man or if she's really here to take him.
"Mira-yah.."
"Don't you fucking dare utter my mother's name from the filthy mouth of yours."
And with that Lily stabbed his neck with his own knife. And he took one last painful, lonely breath before leaving the world for good. Life left his body after hours of brutal torture from his own flesh and blood. Just before he died, snow started falling.
He had also killed his parents on a snowy day and then got killed by his daughter on a day where it was snowing.
A pretty full circle moment, Huh?
Done. It was done. Lily had fallen on the ground, letting the knife fall from her hand. Jungkook quickly ran to her and embraced her in his arms. It had gone on for really long. It was the afternoon of the next day. Lily took her time with him, making sure he feels all the pain of the people he ever wronged. And now it was finally done.
Lily held him close to her,"I..I did it."
"Yes, Lily. It's done. Finally."
Lily then looked at him. Her eyes showed a whirlwind of feelings. Victory, pain, relief, exhaustion, so much.
"You did well,"Jungkook said smiling.
Lily's face, hands, clothes were covered in blood. She asked him,"Did I..do the right thing?"
Jungkook smiled. He was always against murder. But today, he was all for it. Her father deserved all the pain that came his way. If Lily didn't do it, he would go around hurting more people,"Yes, Lily. You did the right thing."
Lily smiled at him. Brightly this time,"Thank you for staying with me. And going through so much for me."
Jungkook just looked at her. Covered in blood, smiling so beautifully. He wiped the blood on her face with his sleeve. Lin was wrong. She didn't look the most beautiful when she was covered in blood. Jungkook was right. She did when she was smiling.
Jungkook then held her hand, that had the tattoo of their bond. Yes, their bond was back on. Right after they were done with Lin. It was all for show anyway. Jungkook is glad they could finish this perfectly and nothing went wrong.
It was a big victory but also a very bittersweet moment for them. They just had won the biggest battle of their life, but sadly it was time to say goodbye. It was time for Jungkook to go back to hell to finish some unfinished business. He isn't sure when he would be back. He can't wait anyone. Otherwise his master won't listen to him.
He had prepared his heart and Lily for this farewell strongly. But now that it was finally time, he just couldn't. He just couldn't even think about being apart from the love of his life for so long. Especially after she was done with such a big battle. But he couldn't help it.
V would be here any minute now. And Jungkook would have to leave with him.
"I..love you, Lily,"Jungkook said as he pulled her closer and affectionately kissed her forehead.
"I love you too, Jungkook. So much."
Jungkook looked at her eyes which were not a void of darkness anymore. They showed love and affection. For him. Her voice wasn't as cold as the heavy snowfall outside. It was warm. Like a cup of hot cocoa on a snowy day.
Jungkook smiled.
Right then he felt another presence at the room. It was officially time for him to go.
"Oh my..WHAT THE FUCK?"Jungkook turned around hearing V's dramatic voice at the situation of the room. Well..he can't blame him. The room was littered with blood, knives, torture devices and two corpses. One of an evil human and one of a pretentious devil.
V looked at Lin's body and the back at Jungkook,"I can't believe you actually pulled that off."
Jungkook shrugged.
"Master will be very pleased with you. He may even listen to your wish,"V said and looked at Lily,"Only if you knew the lengths this guy is going, only for you to be saved from hell."
"Hyung. Stop."
Jungkook then looked at Lily. His eyes were about to water up. But he stopped them. He held her hands,"It's time for me to go, Lily. I will be back. Soon. I promise."
" I want to stop you but I know you wouldn't stay anyway. So...please I beg you..be back soon."
"Yes, just you wait for me,"Then he hugged her.
V wasn't really pleased with their prolonged hug that lasted more than five minutes. But at last they let each other go. V did his job, taking the soul of her father and the body of Lin and Jungkook and he left for hell.
Before leaving Lily once again said,"I will be waiting."
"I will be back."
Lily felt empty after Jungkook left. He never told her why he left, he just promised her that he would be back. In a way it was good. She would be able to finish some unfinished business and then meet him as the best version of herself.
She pushed her father from the red velvet chair and sat on it. Finally. Sitting here made her feel powerful. On top of the world. Her purpose was fulfilled. It was officially time to retire. As Lily.
Lily leaned her head back on the chair in which only her father was allowed to sit on. After opening her eyes she could swear she saw her mother standing in front of her. Same beautiful, vibrant, cheerful woman as ever. The woman that loved her with all her life and the woman she ended up killing right in this very place. Her first ever murder.
Lily didn't know if it was a hallucination due to exhaustion. If it was, it was a pleasant one. She wanted to say something to her mother for so so long. With this, she can finish this unfinished business.
"Mom,"Lily called.
"Yes, my daughter?"Her mother asked in her beautiful voice. Everything about this woman was so exceptionally beautiful.
Lily could feel tears dripping from her eyes like a rainfall.
"I..I'm sorry, mom. For doing that to you. And...I love you."
She smiled,"I love you too, Yerimie. I'm proud of you."
That was it. Lily broke down. She was crying like a child. The hallucination came closer to her and wrapped her arms around her and let her cry. So Lily did. She cried her heart out. About everything. Her mother, killing her father, Jungkook leaving. So much more.
After she was done, she looked up and saw no sign of her mother. It was indeed a hallucination. Even though in her heart she hoped it wasn't. She wiped her eyes and took a deep breath. She felt comforted and relieved even though she knew it wasn't really her mother, but just a mere hallucination. But in her heart she got closure.
She then took her phone out and finally unlocked it. The phone was bombarded with messages from Doyoung and Soobin. Doyoung was searching for her everywhere. His latest message showed that he was on his way to the Care Facility. Lily shook her head. She had to do this quickly.
She had to do this before Doyoung gets here and convinces her to do otherwise. It's only right.
On 26th December, 2021, 4:34 pm amidst heavy snowfall a 119 dispatcher picked up the most bizzare emergency call of their life and said,"Hello, 119. What's your emergency?"
"Hello? This is Angma Care Facility. I've called to report that I've just killed my father."
The dispatcher was heavily shocked by the calmness and the slight cheerfulness in the woman's voice after just saying that she's killed her father.
"Yes. So please send some police officers to arrest me, I guess. You can trace the call, right?"
"...Ma'am, What's your name? We will be sending squad cars there shortly."
"I'm Lil..."After a slight pause she said,"I'm Yerim. Choi Yerim. And please send experienced officers. The crime scene in quite gruesome, it might give them nightmares. I will be waiting."
The line went dead.
The police squad cars rushed there, went in the ominous looking building in the middle of nowhere, and saw one of the most gruesome, violent, bloody crime scenes of their entire life. Every limb of the body was taken off, the weapons were lying on the floor, the killer had no intention to hide the crime.
And the most shocking part...at the corner of the room on a red throne like velvet chair was sitting a doll like girl, smoking a cigarette. In the middle of a crime scene. Classical music was being played nearby. With a body lying at her feet. She smirked when she saw them.
"Hello, officers. Can I come after I finish my cigarette? Snow and smoking is the best combo ever, aren't I
right?"
Excuse me?
