Vampires were never that scary. People who caught them just gagged them and used them as slaves.

Now they're sold at markets with masks on. And even if a human gets bitten they won't turn, this is because of shots that were made several years ago.

You go to a market and see Elrik, on his knees on a stage being auctioned off. He seemed frustrated, he couldn't run becausehis hands were tied behind his back and the leash connected to his collar was being held by the auctioneer.

The auctioneer says that he bit a worker earlier while he was being checked for health problems, and that that lowered his price by quite a bit
