Shield

Natasha's POV
" Romanoff, Barton, report to the meeting room immediately," Maria Hill's voice came through my comm and I immediately got up from where I was lazing around on my bed, already fully dressed in my leather catsuit.
" Clint, they need us in the meeting room," I said to Clint, who was messing around with his computer.
He nodded. We walked to the meeting room briskly, where the entire team, except for Thor, were there.
" Agent Romanoff, Agent Barton, good to see that you can join us," Fury said. I turned towards him calmly with a slight bow and he did likewise.
" Enough of the formalities, Fury. Now tell us why you called us here or I swear I'm going to die of boredom." The voice came from no one else but Tony Stark, who pretended to dramatically yawn. Steve was looking kinder, but a bit confused.
" Why did you call us here, Director?" He asked as Clint and I took our seats next to one another.
" Well, I was going to inform you about an unknown assassin on the move." A blurry picture of a figure came out on the screens on the table. Although the picture was blurred, it was quite obvious that the figure has striking red hair, making it look like a female. " He or she seems to be hunting random people. We need your help to track him or her down and bring him or her back to shield. We revived an anonymous tip off yesterday that this mysterious person is a she and she is going to be somewhere here tomorrow." Fury then pulled out a map of New York and pointed to a point. " Although we have not been given her exact coordinates, we know that she will be somewhere around the area at two pm today. You need to work out a plan on how to patrol the place most effectively. I want her caught by tomorrow, you hear? Dismissed." And I walked out with Clint at my flanks.
" So this is how we do it. I will go and petrol the north side while Bruce here will patrol the east. Tony, you petrol the south. Natasha and Clint, you guys take the west. Is that clear?" Steve said. We nodded and I headed towards the hangar with Clint to get a quinjet. Heading into the jet, Clint went into the pilot's seat while I sat in the co-pilot's seat.
" You ready?" Clint asked me. I scoffed.
" Since when have I not been?" I questioned sarcastically and Clint started up the plane. Flying off into the baby blue horizon, I thought to myself: this mission will be a piece of cake.
---
Clint's POV
After taking off, Nat fell asleep in the co-pilot's seat. Glancing at her, I sighed and put the jet on autopilot while I went and grabbed a blanket and some coffee. I hadn't slept in days. Gulping a mouthful of the scorching hot coffee and burning my tongue off, I placed the mug of coffee on the coffee table and grabbed the blanket. Walking back into the quinjet as quietly as I could, I wrapped the blanket around Nat. She was sleeping so soundly that even that didn't wake her up. With the jet still on autopilot, I closed my eyes and put my world famous shades over my eyes. Settling down, I closed my eyes and slept what might have been the best sleep I had had for ages.
---
The jet's sound recording broke me out of my slumber by saying," Destination reaching in ten minutes. Glancing at Natasha, she had also been jolted awake at the sound and unfastened her seatbelt. Grabbing a parachute, she strapped it onto her back, glancing at me and causally saying," The jet's gonna land soon, might as well prepare now." I grinned and put on my shades again( they had slipped off when I was sleeping).
I heard Tasha mumble," Why must he wear those stupid shades?" I grinned as she went out of the cockpit, probably going to get some coffee. Strapping on my own parachute, I went outside and caught Nat drinking black coffee. I gagged at the smell.
" Geez, Nat, no sleep much?" I asked, suddenly concerned about her. She nodded.
" Nightmares," she said and stopped. I understood. When you're a master assassin, nightmares are common. For Natasha, though, she sees it as a major weakness, so she will forego sleep until her body forces her to take it. Same for me too.
Jumping out of the quinjet, both of us opened our parachute as the quinjet turned back on the way it had come. Landing on a grass patch, I closed my parachute and looked at Nat.
" Now what?" I asked. She shrugged and reached her hand to her ear. " Natasha and Clint here. We've reached." I heard her voice both through the comm and through my hearing aids.
" What took you so long?" Tony groaned. " Were you having a party or something? Enough breaking and get to work!" He complained. I groaned and Tasha facepalmed at Tony's childishness.
" Yes, yes, mother, we're going already," Natasha answered while I snickered. A death glare by her made me shut up and get to work.
Natalie's POV
Strolling along the streets of New York, I looked into window by window, wishing that I had enough money to buy the things I saw inside. Suddenly, I came to the end of the street and walked smack bang into a park. Watching the children dancing around and playing made me wish I didn't have such a messed up childhood. Suddenly, the hairs on the back of my neck lifted up as I felt one-no-two people's eyes on me. Slowly turning around so as not to arouse suspicion from my tailers, I swept the surroundings for any suspicious activity. Nothing of that sort. But I still felt unease. Walking faster, I tried to shake my followers.
Ten minutes have passed and I still feel the gazes trained on me. Coming to the end of the road, I walk into the streets again. I still feel their eyes trained on me. I walked straight into a backstreet and listened. They were still here. I turned around. It was time to face them.
Facing my followers, I saw that they were dressed all in black. They had the picture of an eagle on the right side of their sleeve. One of them vaulted up the building, obviously not knowing that I had turned my back. I slipped into the shadows. The other figure turned and did a double take, obviously not knowing where I had gone. It, too, slipped into the shadows.
" Stop! Don't move!" A woman's voice yelled. I froze and turned to see the figure I had saw just now. She had red curls that reminded me of my own. It was like looking in a mirror, except that she had emerald green ones instead of my baby blue ones. She gave me the same glare back and I smirked. Well, this was indeed going to be interesting.
Clint's POV
As soon as I climbed to the top of the building, I heard Nat gasp and say," She's gone, Clint." I put my hand to my ear while holding my bow at the ready.
" Wait." I said as my eyes quickly adjusted from the darkness of the alley to the brightness of the roof. Scanning the alley below, I caught Nat's unmistakable figure in the shadows with her gun cocked. I saw a flash of movement in the shadows somewhere near Nat.
" To you left, Tasha," I said and she turned, obviously spotting the movement and aiming her gun at the person.
" Don't move," She said. The figure froze and turned around. They both glared at each other. The figure stepped out into the light and the light hit her curls, making out the red very obviously. Nat also stepped out of the shadows. It was then that I noticed that the assassin on the loose was only a girl of around fifteen. Those idiots. Destroying the childhoods of children. I'll bet you anything it was Hydra who did this.
" Well, this is going to be interesting," I heard the girl say and my eyes widened. It triggered a memory, something that I had been wanting to keep under wraps for so long...
Flashback
" Here you go, darling," Natasha said as she gave our baby girl a Nerf gun filled with bullets. " Aim it at the bull's eye, okay?" She lifted her hand, aimed, and shot in one fluid motion. The bullet hit right it the center of the target and stuck there.
" Very good, darling! Now try the bow," I encouraged her, wanting her to take after me more than Natasha. She put down the gun and exchanged it for her Nerf Rebelle bow and notched an arrow, letting it fly. It hit the dead center I cheered.
" She obviously inherited her marksmanship from me," I told Natasha, the triumph obvious in my voice.
" Please," Natasha scoffed and rolled her eyes. " She inherited her use of a gun from me, not you." Our playful jesting was interrupted by my little princess pushing us apart.
" Mommy, Daddy, don't fight,"  She giggled and Natasha and I stopped bickering to turn and smile at her. Suddenly, a loud explosion was heard. Boom!
" Get down!" I heard Natasha yell, as she pushed my baby girl down to the floor roughly. She let out a cry of pain just as Natasha was blown back by the force of the explosion.
" Tasha!" I yelled. Suddenly, the sound of crying transmitted over to my ears, causing me to turn and look at my little girl. My stressed gaze softened as I stared at my only comfort.
" Natalie," I told her, snapping her eyes back to me. " Listen to me. You know that box under our bed? Open it and take the bags inside. Then run as far as you can. You hear me?" I asked, wishing with all my might that Natasha was okay. As much as it pained my heart to leave behind my lovely little baby, I had to see if my other love was fine. Glancing one last time at her baby blue eyes which were now filled with fear and tears,  crawled through the debris of our old home towards where Natasha had been blown to.
I started to commando crawl to her side. Luckily, I saw her rolling over, having only suffered minor injuries like cuts and minor burns.
" Natasha..." I said and she sat up to look at me.
" I'm fine! Where's Natalie?" She asked. I looked upset and could not bring myself to tell her that I had left Natalie behind in the debris.
" You left her, didn't you?" She demanded. I nodded sadly. She got up and stumbled. I caught her just in time and supported her weight. We continued moving towards the place where I had left her. Suddenly, another explosion rocked what was left of the house. This time, both Natasha and I were thrown back. When the explosion ceased, my ears were ringing and I think I had a concussion. She was in a worse condition than I was, blood streaking down her face. Sighing at my aching head, I started carrying her out. The rest of the house was in flames as we left.
" Where is she?" Natasha asked groggily as she woke up in my arms. Immediately jumping off, she glanced at the house on fire. " Was...she still inside?" Natasha asked. I shook my head to indicate that I did not know. We both looked at the house with tears in our eyes as our only chance at a normal life was destroyed with the house. Our daughter.
Flashback over.
Natasha's POV
No. That couldn't be. It couldn't be her. She perished along with the fire, didn't she?
" Clint..." I said, holding my hand to my comm.
" Natasha..." He too seemed shocked. The girl glared at me one last time and took off running. I started chasing after her. Grabbing her suit and accidentally tearing off a piece of it, I stared at the silver thing that had just flown out of her suit. It was...no...yes it was. The arrow necklace Clint had given me when we just met! I thought it was in the fire too... The girl took advantage of my situation and ran off. I was too shocked to do anything, but soon felt Clint's hands on my back. I turned to him.
" Clint, what if..." I said, my eyes filled with tears. If Clint was surprised at my state, he didn't show it.
" Natasha, you know she died in the fire." Clint said, his eyes sad.
" But Shield never found her body! She could be still alive!" I cried, tears flowing down my face.
" I know, Natasha. I know." Clint comforted me and I leaned into his embrace, not wanting to let go.
