Chapter 22

~March 29, 2020, Sunday ~

"WAKE UP, MOTHERFUCKERS!" Peggy yelled as she blasted through John and Lafayette's dorm.

"Peggy, why are you up at this unholy time?" John groaned, from his bedroom.

Peggy grinned, looking all giddy, and ran in John's bed. She started jumping on his bed to try to wake him up.

"I almost forgot!" She exclaimed. "It's Mars' birthday tomorrow!"

"Really?" John asked sleepily. "Well, tell her I wish her a happy birthday. I'm going back to bed."

"But we have to go to New York!"

"We have class tomorrow, Pegs."

"Exactly why we're holding the celebration today! At New York!" Peggy whispered excitedly.

"Alright, alright," John sighed, finally rising. "Go wake up the others. Lafayette and I will meet you at your dorm, packed."

"Yay!" She squealed, running out of their dorm.

"I swear if that little yellow optimistic furball wakes me up again, I'll kill her in her sleep," John joked, starting to pack once more.

"Angelica!" Eliza called. "Help me, please! These boxes are heavy."

A tired looking Angelica helped Eliza carry the party decoration boxes down the stairs and out to the garden.

"We're here~" Jefferson yelled, as he flung open the back doors.

"Where's Mars?" Eliza asked.

"Oh," Hercules smiled. "She's with Alex. Alex is showing her around New York as a distraction."

"Or the other way around," Thomas muttered.

"How many people are coming, girls?" Philip Schuyler asked, as he appeared behind the two newcomers.

"Um..our friends and a few others," Eliza mumbled. "About 15."

"Oh. Well, that's slightly better than last time. Just don't make a ruckus, alright?"

"Or course, Father," Angelica said.

They watched as Mr. Schuyler entered the mansion again and disappeared beyond its walls.

She continued, "Now y'all help us carry these boxes or there would be consequences."

"Yes, Mom," Thomas groaned, rolling his eyes, causing Hercules to snicker.

~~×~~

"Dammit," Lafayette groaned, tapping the wheel. "Traffic up ahead."

"How long?" Theodosia asked.

"Uhh," Peggy frowned, looking through her phone. "About 30 minutes."

"We'll be late then!"

"Y'all woke up late!"

"You didn't wake up us early! We didn't know!"

"I forgot!"

"Your fault."

"Fine, fine," Peggy pouted.

"Quiet the bickering. Blame the traffic," James mumbled. John nodded in agreement.

"Alright then smart ass," She laughed.

After several minutes, the traffic eventually began faded away. Though, just after they were back on the journey, Peggy screamed.

"STOP ZE CAR!"

"Nice French accent ya got there, Peggles," Laf chuckled.

"I'm serious. Just stop the car!" She yelled.

"Why?" Theo frowned. "We'll be later than ever and Maria would be back by the mansion already!"

"I'm certain that she's not at the mansion yet," She said. "I could see her and Alex."

"So stop the car!" Lafayette exclaimed.

"You're the one driving!"

"Right," He chuckled, flushing red in embarassment. He hit the brakes and they watched Alex and Maria wander around.

"He's not very good at distracting, is he?" James admitted.

"Oh, shut up. He's trying, ya know?" John defended.

"Ooh la la~" Theo smirked. "Fighting for him, eh? I don't understand why y'all aren't dating."

"We're not..that close," He said softly, blushing.

"Really?" Lafayette asked, turning around to face John. "Because for the past few nights I-"

"SHSHSHSHSHHSHSHSHSHSHSHSHSHSHSHSHSHSHSHHSSHSHSHSHHSSHSHSHSHHSHSSHHSSHSHSHSHSHHSHSSHSHHH!"

"I-"

"SSSHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!"

"Alright, alright. Anyway I heard ya talking to Alexander over the phone for the past few weeks for a very long time," He spilled the tea quickly.

"Ooh, how long?" Peggy squealed.

"Mm...about 5 minutes."

"Oh."

"Or 4 hours."

"HAHAHAHAHAHA! YES OTP!" Peggy yelled.

"Peggy, is that you?"

A knock on the Peggy's window made everyone stay silent. No one moved.

Maria was outside the car, with Alex, who noticed John and waved nervously. John smiled and waved back.

Peggy reached for her bag, which was just in front of her, and took out a 5 pairs of sunglasses and a cap. She gave each of her friends a pair of sunglasses, keeping one for herself, and placed on the cap.

"Why do you have that?" Lafayette whispered, putting on the glasses.

"In case I need to hide my identity. Like right now," She smiled and opened her window.

"No, dear. The name's Penelope..
Granger," Peggy answered in a British accent. "I'm sorry but you are very much mistaken."

"Oh..I just thought you were my um, girlfriend," Maria mumbled.

"Oh ok," She grinned. "Now who the eff are you?"

"That pretty much ruined the accent," Theodosia muttered.

"Oh shush," John chuckled.

"Maria Reynolds," She sighed. "Well, Alex, let's go."

Alex nodded, and the two friends walked away. Before turning the corner, Alex discreetly saluted.

"That was close," Peggy said. "Now let's go."

~~×~~

"We're never gonna be able to finish the decorations in time!" Eliza exclaimed.

"Not unless you got a Peggy."

They (Jefferson, Hercules, Angelica and Eliza) stopped decorating and running around, and looked who just entered the garden.

"Peggy! You're finally here!" Angelica smiled, hugging her sister.

"We need hel-"

"I got this," She smirked, gathering all the party supplies. "Just go in the house."

"Mansion," Hercules corrected.

"JuSt gEt iNsiDe!"

"Alright alright," He laughed, following his friends inside.

Once inside, John asked, "What time will Alex arrive?"

"In about," Eliza trailed off and frowned. "10 minutes. And don't forget Maria-"

"Oh ho ho-" Theodosia grinned mischievously.

"MERRY CHRISTMAS!" Lafayette yelled.

"Seriously, Laf," Angelica facepalmed.

"Anyway, lookin' for Alex once more?" Theo teased, slightly annoyed at the interruptions.

"Uhhh-"

"Y'ALL C'MERE IN THIS INSTANCE!" Peggy shouted from outside.

James stated, "Well, that was quick."

"Yep," Jefferson agreed.

John walked towards the door. He said, "Alright, let's go."

The group of friends went back outside to the garden and admired the sudden change.

"Holy fucking macaroni," Thomas chuckled. "It's like the poop and blood of unicorn."

Eliza shook her head. "A unicorn's blood is silver."

"Well then unicorn poop. And the unicorn ate a human and splattered the blood everywhere."

"Well that's violent..." Theo muttered.

There were small booths scattered around the garden. There were red cups on a table at the side and a DJ booth at the corner.

"It's amazing, Pegs!" John complimented, Angelica nodding in agreement. "It's so...red and organized and uh," He trailed off.

"An absolutely wonderful party!"

They turned around to see Maria and Alexander standing by the back door.

"Maria!" Peggy grinned, running up to her girlfriend. "I know it's not until tomorrow but...Happy birthday!

"This is great! Did you do this, Pegs?"

"About 90% of it in 10 minutes!" She giggled.

"I've got the most fucking amazing girlfriend in the world!" She squealed, embracing her girlfriend tightly.

"Maria...I appreciate the compliment but-" Peggy squirmed. "I would very much appreciate oxygen too!"

"Of course," She flushed red and let go. "But I can't thank you enough."

"Anything for you, Mars!"

~~×~~

About half an hour in, and Peggy and a few of her friends were already dancing crazily by the DJ booth. It was clearly evident they were drunk or at least tipsy.

The party was amazing. It was loud, red, and just like any frat party you could ever imagine, just with less people.

As Eliza mentioned, about 15 people attended the party. Those were: the friend group (Maria, Peggy, Lafayette, Hercules, John, Alex, Thomas, Madison, Theodosia, Angelica, and Eliza) Burr, Philip Schuyler, Samuel Seabury, Maria's culinary partner.

And last but not the least.

James Reynolds.
