Ch. 49 - Bad Boy

I can't help the smile that slowly forms on my face, mirroring Harry's at the sight of him after all these years.

He grew his hair out just like he always wanted to, his brown curls reaching his broad shoulders that look wider than before when we were in our twenties.

His jawline was sharper if that was even possible, the boyish look on his face now gone replaced with the face of a man I never got to know as I let my eyes gaze upon the slight stubble he was growing on his chin.

Two things that didn't change after all this time though were his bright green eyes that still had that same mischevious glint in them along with his charming dimpled smile.

"You guys have been staring at eachother for a minute. Ball. Please." The boy bit out making me shake my head, trying to break away from Harry's gaze as he did the same before we both mumble small "sorry's" and gave the ball back to the child.

I look back at Harry, surprised at how deep his voice had gotten and he meets my gaze with a smile.

"Finally." The small boy groans before rolling his eyes and walking away.

"It's nice to see you again too Natalie." Harry finally speaks up, clearing his throat awkwardly as he rubs his forearm, his large hand trailing down to his wrist absent mindly making my gaze fall to the matching tattoo of Olivia's name on his wrist.

I place my fingers on my own tattoo as well before swallowing, sending him a shakey smile.

After having our first born die I unfortunately wasn't the same, I became hollow and depressed for the longest time.

I didn't make any more jokes, I rarely ever smiled or laughed like I usually did.

Harry tried his best to keep me happy, and I was because Harry was my happiness.

But everytime I thought I was progressing, the nightmares would come back, the panic attacks just everything was too much and I only got worst.

Harry was willing to try again, he was willing to stay with me, by my side no matter what but even then I could see how I was affecting him.

He was so strong, only twenty three and still trying to keep it together for the both of us after the loss of his first born while still taking care of me in my traumatized state afterwards.

I could see that I was slowly breaking him though.

I was too scared to try again, to give him more disappointment, more sadness.

It was that one time I woke up in the middle of the night from another nightmare and usually Harry would be at my side, holding me in his arms gently rocking me back to sleep in his warm embracing, humming softly against my hair.

But I found him at the end of the bed, sitting down on the mattress, his elbows on his knees and his face buried in his hands crying silently by himself.

He was trying to be strong for the both of us but it still affected him as well.

He was love, my beautiful boy with a heart of gold and I knew I was slowly draining him.

I knew that he deserved someone who wasn't mentally ill, someone who wasn't unstable and who could give him the kids and family he's always wanted.

So I left him.

If I was going to sink further deep into my depression I refused to take him down with me.

I wrote him a letter, had to lie to him that I was happy alone, left my wedding ring on our bed, and had a new goal in my life.

I was going to try and get better but I was going to do it alone because after everything, Harry deserved to be happy and move on.

I eventually did get better over the years and I was ready to go back to Harry.

Then I realized how completely selfish that was of me.

To just leave someone, then come back when I'm better and pretend like nothing ever happened.

I had broken his heart for someone else to repair and love.

"You grew your hair." Harry notes, a smile still on his face as I nodded with a small grin, tugging at the end of my ponytail.

"So did you." I tease, gesturing to his long locks making him chuckle.

"You look good." He says, his voice so soft I almost thought I heard it until I met his intense gaze.

"You do too. Hey, did you know you still smell like vanilla?" I laugh out when the slight breeze hits us, the scent filling my nose and I know I should feel awkward but I just couldn't.

I felt at ease to finally be talking with Harry again.

"Yeah, you still smell like coconuts." He trails off and I give him a playful shrug.

"How've you been?" He suddenly asks, concern clear in his tone as I struggle to maintain a straight face, not wanting to smile all creepily and scare him off.

"I've been good. You?"

"Good, good." He nods his head, looking down to kick a pebble at his feet before his eyes snap back up to me.

"What are you doing here at the park on this lovely morning." I muse, making him smile, biting his lip as he continued to look at me before he ran a hand through his long hair.

"I actually came here to take my-"

"Daddy! Daddy!" A small voice called from behind Harry making my eyes widen at the sight of a small little girl, her dirty blonde hair tied up into pony tails as she went over to tug on the hem of Harry's jacket.

"Hi baby." He smiles down at her, my heart fluttering at the sight of him scooping up his daughter in his arms, her green eyes and dimpled smile an exact replica of her father's.

The little girl who looks no older than six pinches Harry's cheek making him let out an overdramatic "ouch" earning a giggle from the small child before she turned to look at me.

"Hi! I'm Natalie." She greets with a shy smile, her pale cheeks flushing under my gaze as my eyes widen and I look over to Harry whose also blushing as well as he avoids my eyes.

"Hi Natalie. I'm Nat." I laugh in disbelief, trying to blink away the tears that were starting to form in my eyes before I grab her small hand and shake it.

"She makes me really happy so I thought the name would fit her." Harry explains, gesturing to his daughter as I feel my heart swell in my chest at his words.

She is absolutely precious.

"She's beautiful." I tell Harry in a genuine tone, voicing my thoughts making him swallow as he sent me a small smile before glancing over at his daughter in his arms.

"Yes, yes she is." He agrees with me, pecking her cheek and in that moment, I couldn't have been any happier to see him like this.

"Oh gosh hun, you would not believe who I just bumped into- oh! Oh I'm sorry," A tall dirty blonde woman in jogging clothes came in, resting her elbow on Harry's shoulder as she rested the other hand on her hip before she looked over at me.

"Hi, I'm Nat." I smile at her, extending my hand out for her which she immediatly takes with a polite grin.

"Cynthia, Cynthia Styles, you must be a friend of Harry's yeah?" She asks, turning to her husband for confirmation as Harry began to nod his head.

"Uh yeah, this is an old friend, Nat. Nat, this is my wife." He reintroduced, his green eyes connecting with mine momentarily before I gave him a reassuring smile.

"Nice to meet you! I don't usually get the pleasure to really meet any of Harry's old friends from college you know, or are you two like childhood friends?" Cynthia began, obviously trying to keep the conversation going as Harry and I shared a look.

"I-"

A small body suddenly tackles me from behind, tiny arms wrapping around my wrist as the small boy lets out a loud rawr to scare me.

"Is that my little squirt?" I tease, bending and looking behind me as my little boy let out a giggle, trying to run away before I grabbed his wrist, pulling him to me making him squeal.

I bring him in my arms, holding him by his small legs making him let out a loud "wheee" while he dangles over the floor, arms hanging making Cynthia gasp as Harry's eyes widened.

"Nat you're gonna drop him." Harry stresses, his voice on edge as he sends me a worried look.

"No I'm not." I laugh, scrunching my face at him before I look down at my son.

"Yes you are."

"No I'm- oh no!" I joke, pretending to lose my grip like I always did only making my six year old son laugh as Harry ran in front, still holding his daughter while his other free hand tried to cradle my child's curly haired head before he sent me a playful glare.

"Not funny Nat." He breathes, clearing his throat awkwardly as he took a step back when he knew I had a good hold on little Haz.

My son catches Natalie staring at him with her wide green eyes making him smile as he hangs upside down.

"Su'p, I'm Haz." He introduces making Natalie give him a shy wave as Harry's eyes immediatly widen while he looks between my son and I in disbelief.

"It's short for-"

"Harry." Harry finishes for him, not taking his eyes off me as a smile formed over his face.

I smile back at him, bringing my son back upright and onto his small feet.

I'm honestly so blessed to have my little Haz, althought he was an outcome of a drunken late one night stand at first, he is my pride and joy.

"Ay look, you found mommy!" Aaron laughs from behind, approaching my side as he placed his large hands over my shoulder making me smile and roll my eyes at my husband.

I catch Harry's smile falter a bit at the sight of Aaron before he quickly recovers.

"Aaron!" Cynthia suddenly squeals as Aaron beams at her.

"Cynthia! Hey Nat baby, this is an old friend of mine from highschool-"

"Old friend huh," Cynthia teases with a quirk of her eyebrow, giggling.

"Okay okay, this might seem a little awkward but uh-" Aaron began, looking between Harry and I while I held onto Haz's hand.

"Well you see we-" Cynthia starts, looking nervous as well as her and my husband shared knowing glances at one another while Harry places Natalie down.

"We used to date in highschool." The two both blurt out in unison before laughing as Harry and I stay silent.

"Isn't that so awkward, I mean weird and awkward-"

"But nice," Cynthia cut Aaron in making him grin and nod in agreement as they continued to chuckle.

Harry and I exchange quick looks before we both force out strong overly fake laughs and join them.

"Yeah, so, so awkward." I wheeze out as Harry nods his head furiously with a pained smile.

"Who would have guessed." Harry follows along with em.

"Cynthia, this is my wife Nat and my son Haz." Aaron introduces, resting his hand on my shoulder.

"Oh my gosh, look at you! This is my husband Harry and my daughter Natalie." She replies back with a smile, still giggling as Harry and I just continue to stare at eachother.

There's a familiar look in his eyes but I can't really quite decipher what it is as our partners continue to laugh and talk with one another while even little Haz and Natalie began to play a clapping hand game at our sides.

My ears tune into their conversation when I hear Aaron say "it's such a hassle really."

"Oh, your backyard is in need of some repairing? Oh my goodness what a coincidence, Harry's actually a very popular land scaper, he can totally help you two out, isn't that right hun?" Cynthia says with an excited grin before she turns to her husband, Harry not answering for a few moments, still staring at me before he blinks and looks at his wife.

"Oh, I'm sorry hun I wasn't- I wasn't listening what did you say?" Harry asked, his adams apple bobbing up and down as he tried to keep his attention on his wife.

"You're a landscaper? That's great! You wouldn't mind helping Nat and I out with our backyard? We just moved in and it's an absolute mess. Nat has been trying to work on it all by herself and she's having a bit of trouble." Aaron gushes, looking over at Harry.

"What? No, I'm not having trouble I'm actually doing great at pulling all the weeds out-"

"I'd love to help." Harry cuts in, his voice warm as my eyes snap to his in surprise.

"Then it's settled then! Oh- I think I still have your number Aaron, we can come over this Saturday if you want for Harry to start the work, I'll even bring some lasagna!" Cynthia offers making both Haz and I's heads to turn to her.

"Lasagna?" My son and I both echo with excitement making Harry bite his lip, smiling.

I knew I would like Cynthia.

"Saturday it is then." Aaron smiles before checking his watch, mumbling an "oh shoot" under his breath.

"Babe, we gotta go if we're gonna catch that movie." He turns to me with raised brows as I nod my head.

"Alright we should let you guys see your movie, we'll see you on Saturday!" Cynthia smiles, clasping her hands together.

"I'll send you the address over text, isn't it so cool how we don't have to email eachother anymore like in highschool?" Aaron laughs as Cynthia took her iphone out.

"It was nice seeing you again!" She squeals, opening her arms out enveloping my husband in a friendly hug as I smile.

I suddenly feel a large warm hand on my arm, my skin immediatly warming at the touch as I look up to meet Harry's soft green eyes before he closes the space between us and hugs me, overwhelming me with the familiarity of being so close to him, smelling his vanilla shampoo and having his tall frame against mine.

My whole body tenses in surprise and before I can relax and hug him back I feel his lips near my ear.

"See you Saturday." He whispers before drawing back with a polite dimpled smile on his face as I blink at him in surprise.

"Ah- yeah man, see you-"

"Nat we gotta go." Aaron interrupts, picking little Haz up before giving him to me.

"Give your mommy kisses so she can stop sending googly eyes at my friend's husband." Aaron whispered for only my son and I to hear as I laugh, shaking my head at him while Haz places his small hands on my face, giving me kisses.

"We'll see you guys." I say, ignoring my husband's teasing as we wave one another and part.

I give one last look at Harry who's staring at me as well before turning and walking away.

"Look, Cynthia just texted me, she still had my number, isn't that hella weird?" Aaron laughs from my side, not even looking up from his phone as I made a funny face at my son.

"Mommy, I heard that man with long hair has the same name as me," Haz suddenly said, placing his small hands on my shoulder as he looks at me with wide brown eyes.

"Yes, yes he does."

"Who is he?" He asks, his question catching me off gaurd as I stop in my tracks, Aaron not even noticing as he continued to walk forward still looking down at his phone with a smile.

I turn my head to look back at Harry who was now holding his daughter in his arms, his eyes meeting mine before that same warm smile appeared over his face.

He took his daughter's small wrist, shaking it so she was waving goodbye at us making me smile before I turn my attention back to my son.

"He was my bad boy."

AN: Lowkey thinking about making a sequel to this story, it won't be long, maybe like ten chapters but I think it would be fun to see Harry and Nat as parents, which is why I gave this a very ify ending just in case I decide to continue their story in another short book, along with you also seeing the other characters like Carlos, Bernie, Mimi, Grant, Georgia and everyone and how they are now.

But I wanted to end this book talking about the bad boy because in the beginning I was talking about the good girl.

Sorry if there are any mistakes in this chapter, I suck at writing in present tense because I'm so used to writing in past tense and if I do make a sequel to this I'll probably write it in past tense (not because of the plot but because I'm used to it lmao).

Thank you so much for taking the time to read this story and falling in love and watching all the characters grow.

I never knew that I would make so many people laugh and cry when I wrote this story and I just want to thank you guys for reigniting my passion for writing because I had writer's block for years.

Don't lose hope, there might be a sequel, only if you want it of course.
