at one point it started to go numb, the way he sat in the chair and didn't move for at least thirty minutes. taehyung only realized it had been that long when someone came through the front doors for their workout, noticing the boy behind the desk and wondering how he always appeared there.

"taehyung?" seojoon was holding onto the gym bag strap sitting snug on his shoulder. he didn't understand why his boyfriend was here, sitting at the front desk of his gym. it was also weirder since he hadn't been here first. "what are you doing?"

the youngers head snapped up once hearing his name, pink bangs flying up in a fan until falling back down perfectly in place. taehyung smiled, but it wavered slightly when seeing the other male wasn't as excited to see him. "i came with namjoon hyung." he answered.

"why though." seojoon said plainly.

"i was just-" taehyung paused trying to think of something, a right answer the older boy would accept. "i don't know, i was-"

he didn't expect for that voice to come in, or to just feel that strong presence behind him. but it was there, in all it's 6'1 dark haired inked up glory. "his shift started at 6:30." jungkook of course had his arms crossed when he spoke.

"shift?" seojoon didn't look amused that this other guy had interrupted what they were talking about, and he looked between the two males on the other side of the desk. "like you work here now?" he asked, a scoff following. jungkook just stood and barely moved, the only sign that he wasn't an actual statue was the slight rise and fall of his chest. taehyung looked up from his spot on the chair and smiled, "yeah, i work here." the boy was so content.

jungkook finally broke that strong stare from the jock to look at taehyung, seeing that dumb grin and just narrowing his eyes a little more. taehyung knew he was telling him to shut up even inside his head. "i'm getting paid well too." taehyung grinned up at his boyfriend.

"i'm sure." seojoon said, swiping his card and walking back to the equipment.

he turned slowly in the rolling chair until he faced the boxer with a wide grin and sparkling eyes. everything he was thinking was in those eyes, they were a window to his soul and a deep brown ocean anyone wanted to dive into. jungkook enjoyed diving.

"don't speak." the ravenette said instead, already knowing he let his attitude towards seojoon make his speak first. listening to the way he talked to taehyung was irritating, just adding to the idea that he believed he was superior to everyone and everything. jungkook would have none of that in his home. "when do i get paid?" taehyung asked.

jungkook rolled his eyes and walked away, back through the office and towards the mats. he heard the chair and the steps following behind. "so what exactly do i do?" taehyung continued to ask question, and it had the ravenette stopping in his tracks and closing his eyes to find some peace inside his own head. taehyung was too busy in his own mind to notice, making him bump into the mans strong back. "sorry." he mumbled.

"you practically employed yourself, find something to do." jungkook said.

taehyung could sense the hint of dismissiveness in the older males voice, he was used to hearing it. but he could also tell jungkook seemed to be holding back. "i already organized your portfolios and subscription packages." the pink haired boy was a lot quieter now as he spoke.

"do it again." jungkook suggested.

"that's seems redundant."

"do you ever do as you're told?" jungkook rose an eyebrow and looked at the boy. his typically soft and pretty features had turned down into a frown — well more of an angry pout. taehyung looked up and his eyes narrowed slightly. "i always do as i'm told." he said, clearly not happy with what the older said, and making that evident as he was the one to turn away first and stomp back to the front office.

jungkook stood there, and for once he suddenly didn't know what was happening. there never really was a care in that mans soul, the usual moods of others easily brushed off as he carried on and punches his own mood away until there was no feeling left in his chest or knuckles. but right now he watched that pink blob of hair disappear behind a semi-slammed door. the way he leaned, as if he was about to follow like a shadow. jungkook just grunted, his sneakers not moving until they turned away and returned to the training lessons still going on behind him.

6:48 pm.

twelve minutes and he could go upstairs and disappear in a storm of screaming beats and bloodied leather from the impact of bone banging against skin, desperate to get out and taste the air. jungkook stopped just at the end of the cushioned mats, looking at the pairs and crossing his arms as usual. "again."

taehyung laid on his bed that night and stared at the ceiling. there was no music or tv playing in the background as he simply stared into nothing and wondered why he was still in a mood from earlier. he couldn't leave jeon-kali fitness fast enough, not after namjoon came walking out sweaty and ready to leave for dinner back at home.

technically jungkook never said anything about him needing to stay to a certain time, and taehyung wasn't even sure how serious this job was. maybe he was just joking.

he always did as he was told. whether it's dinner at 7 or sitting at a certain table at lunch or not talking to his boyfriend because he was busy focusing on sports or working out or whatever it was this time. taehyung always listened. no one listened to him.

listen. taehyung didn't know what else there was to do. what fun is it to disobey someone when you can do as you're told and know that person must be satisfied. to him it was common sense to do just that despite what it does to your own self.

the boy just continued to lay there, with no motivation to move under the sheets and sleep or even call one of his friends. taehyung suddenly perked up, hearing noises from downstairs he wasn't used to. after living in a place for so long it becomes easy to recognize who's who just by the distant mumble of voices or even the approaching footsteps — namjoons were heavier and more spaced apart thanks to his long legs, while his mother was light on her feet and otherwise silent if the floor boards didn't creak on the second floor.

but he had no idea who that voice was. taehyung sat up and leaned forward, as if that would help trying to figure out who's deeper and richer voice was speaking with his mothers daintier one.

the floorboards creaked as he walked, and with each step taehyung heard that voice more clear and felt his stomach drop even further. he's not sure at what point he knew who it was but refused to fully believe it. there's no way he was here right now, at his house, talking to his mother of all people.

but he was. taehyung saw him from where he was standing on the stair case, that tall guy with his dark hair and tattooed arms on full display. jungkook looked like he showered, and it was certainly a different appearance than his usual sweaty and tired looking self.

taehyung took this opportunity to stare for second, seeing the way jungkook cleans up nicely with his long hair combed but still somehow perfectly messy and parted to the side. he only wore a t-shirt, but it showed off the ink on his arms and even the one peeking up on his neck. taehyung didn't notice how many piercings he had either, probably taking them out when he worked out, but now they were all there in spikey and hooped arrangements. he was also wearing something other than basketball shorts, and gosh those skinny jeans looked so good covering his thighs.

"taehyung." mrs. kim broke him from his deep thoughts, and the pink haired boy hoped he was far enough away that neither of them noticed the way his face was so warm and most likely too red to make excuses for. "your friend stopped by." she said.

jungkook was staring at him, under dark eyebrows and soft eyelashes. taehyung still felt his stomach doing flips and turns and he couldn't decide if they were butterflies or vomit waiting to make an appearance.

the ravenette notice how the boy was suddenly quiet and without words, the sight somewhat satisfying. his thin lips turned up into a subtle smirk. "it's good to see you taehyung."
