"what the hell do you think you're doing?" he wasn't expecting to hear that voice so soon, not when taehyung was usually the one seeking it out and not being surprised by it. the poor boy barely left his last class when he felt his boyfriend pushing him into the metal lockers.
"seojoon what-" the pink haired boy couldn't even ask the question before he was cut off with a silencing glare. the older jock narrowed his eyes, but he stepped back enough for taehyung to peel his shoulder blades off the locker and ignore the slight pain radiating across his upper back. "i saw you at the gym, yesterday." seojoon said.
taehyung waited, he expected more — like a question or something other than a plain observation. "and you didn't come say hi?"
"i wasn't planning on it in the middle of my workout." he said.
taehyung didn't comment on the fact that his boyfriend was just talking to his friends every time he had looked around the corner from the front desk. he did try to go over a few times, but then a certain dark haired dude would be standing there and glaring at him, basically telling him to stop loitering and actually be productive if he was going to hang around.
it was only for an hour or two, and then namjoon would take them both back home in home so taehyung could do homework before dinner and his brother could shower and clean up in time.
"i figured we could hang out after," taehyung said. he was still standing up by the lockers, books at his side. "but i didn't get the chance to ask you."
"i said i'd text you." seojoon said, now reaching up to grab the boy and pull him along with his arm around his shoulders, "but we can go out tonight, my parents are leaving for the weekend." that always meant the same thing.
taehyung chewed on the inside of his bottom lip, and as if timing was perfect he spotted his two friends from across the courtyard fighting over a reese's package from the vending machine. they always were bickering about something. "i don't about tonight, i kind of promises my friends could come over." he said, feeling he way the other males arm loosened around his shoulders, "but i can come over tomorrow, we can do whatever you want." taehyung was quick to add, looking up at his boyfriend with hopeful eyes.
"forget it." seojoon said, and used the excuse of needing to adjust his backpack to take his arm away from the youngers shoulders. "we'll talk monday baby." he quickly kissed the boy and the two parted ways, one standing in place while the jock left to his sports car.
it hard to distinguish the line that merges love and pain, at what point does someone step over that line and get lost in their emotions, not able to find their way out of the fog. taehyung stood in the fog, blinded and cold but still smiling small at the sight of the guys letterman jacket disappearing behind fancy car doors.
a sweater covered hand pulled him from the fog, attached to a slim arm and a slim shoulder which was then attached to a pretty neck that held a silver haired head. jimin shook his friend to get his attention, wondering why he was standing in the school gates still. "dude you're blocking everything." he said, pushing his friend so they could keep going out to the parking lots.
there was a chocolate smudge on the corner of his lips. he must have won the reese's cup.
"wheres hobi hyung?" taehyung asked as they walked to stand by the curb as usual. their trio was missing a member, a key person in charge of snacks and music bag every sleepover. jimin pulled out the other half of the reese's and offered it to the boy beside him, who smiled and took it. "he said he'd meet us at your house, he's bringing food."
taehyung had a mouthful of chocolate and peanut butter, but he spoke anyways. "what about the lasagna you guys wanted?" he said.
the shorter male seemed to pause remembering that he did request that. "well we're growing boys, we eat a lot." he said. taehyung nodded knowing he had a point.
they talked about random things, some routine jabs at boyfriends and crushes on brothers like usual, sometimes hitting a little too close to home but neither actually got too sensitive. and then namjoon pulled up, and the boys climbed in like always.

"thanks again for having us over mrs. kim." jimin was always one to be a sweet and polite boy when it came to parents. it was practically impossible for people to dislike him, let alone not have their hearts warmed just by that pretty moon smile of his.
mrs kim always liked her sons friends, especially if they'd come over and compliment her cooking continuously. "any time." she said, directed to both boys sitting on either side of her son. hoseok grinned and made sure there wasn't a large amount of lasagna in his mouth when he did so.
despite their unapologetic eating habits, the three at least knew when to shape up. taehyung cut a nice piece of pasta and stuck it on his tongue. he enjoyed lasagna, but he also saw the multiple shopping bags of junk that hobi brought and left on his bedroom floor. it was calling his name right about now.
"thank you so much for dinner mom but we-" he didn't finish getting words out when his father pointed his fork at him, motioning downwards. "sit." mr. kim said.
the pink haired boy plopped back down in his seat and picked up his fork. "oh it's alright," mrs. kim said and smiled up at the boys blinking up over the table like little children. "you boys go on up and enjoy yourself."
they didn't need to be told again as they politely excused themselves and carried their dishes to the sink.
"jimin told me you have a crush." hoseok said as the boys ran up the steps. taehyung just rolled his eyes and opened his bedroom doors, seeing the piles of food and stack of movies ready to be binged. jimin didn't even care that his name was brought up, he was too busy tearing open a box of gummy worms and making a face at the horror movie disc they had planned to watch.
"i don't have a crush." taehyung said, climbing into the bed and getting comfy by pulling off his pants. he had on boxers, and the other two didn't mind as they did the same and ditched their skinny jeans. "i talked to him like once."
"wait when?" the silver haired boy looked at his friend curiously, remembering how the two only shared a look when they were at the gym. they never talked.
taehyung must have caught his slip up, because he paused mid chew on a gummy worm and started to cough. "at the gym, i said nice socks when we were leaving."
"what a bold faced lie you bitch." jimin hit him in the face with a sour worm, hobi just watching. "you walked out pouting because seojoon didn't want to hang out."
"as per usual." hoseok said. he was unbothered by the quiet bickering going on beside him. he just grabbed the remote and started the movie so the before trailers could go on.
it might have been different now, because normally taehyung would say something clever or cheeky or just smile sweetly thinking of his boyfriend. tonight wasn't the same, and he just silently ate the snack and wondered why he was here instead of out with someone that supposedly cared about him — and it was funny, because he was. they were right there, laying in his bed to spend time with him because they cared and enjoyed his company. but it was the fog around taehyung that had him missing the wrong things.
