the weather was nice today. barely a cloud in the sky to cover the perfect sheet of blue that hung high above them, like an infinite umbrella hiding the stars and space. the two boys walked home from school thanks to this weather, both wanting to feel the sun and breeze on their cheeks.

"he even paid." taehyung was smiling as he spoke, chemistry notebook clutched to his chest as they walked down the sidewalk.

jimin just hummed again, as he did after every comment his friend made about his breakfast date the day before. he pretended like he didn't know what had happened, feigning excitement at certain parts to please the younger one. taehyung was feeling too mushy and gushy to realize his friend barely cared about his words.

the two of them stopped at a crosswalk, their homes to the right while one of their desired destination to the left. "i think i'm gonna stop by the fitness center." taehyung said, looking in that direction despite the street being too long and busy to even see it.

jimin couldn't help the way his eyes widened a bit, remembering how cold jungkook was that morning they were spying on taehyung.  "are you sure? my mom is making dumplings and noodles and we can go stuff our faces." he suggested.

there was no use, taehyung had made up his mind and his friend knew that. the two said goodbye and separated ways, one left and one right.

the pink haired boy walked with his books and bag, smiling at passerby's and already knowing the way to the gym. he had texted his brother earlier in the day to tell him he didn't need a ride. namjoon didn't care either way, but his face was almost priceless when he saw his little brother here anyways.

"really?" he said, seeing the boy smiling wide as timing was perfect and they approached the doors at the same time.

"i wanted to walk with jimin." taehyung said with a shrug and an innocent grin. "the weather is nice out today."

"good point." namjoon held the door open for the two of them as they walked inside, the air conditioner feeling good against their faces rather than the heat from the sun outside.

the jeon-kali sign welcomed them in, shining bright on the wall behind the front desk in neon black and purple lettering. simple and fancy seemed to fit jungkooks style. the boy even wondered what his apartment looked like, if it reflected the dark and edgy aesthetic of his work place or if jungkook was actually a beige kinda guy with neutral tones in his home. taehyung smiled at the thought.

"do you have plans with seojoon today or do you need a ride?" namjoon asked as he swiped his card and waited for the green light. the two walked back and taehyung hummed. "no."

his big brother glanced over his shoulder at the smaller one, "then why are you here?"

the answer to that question came walking out of his private office room just then, the heavy door slamming behind him and obscuring the sound of his first few footsteps down the stairs. jungkook saw the two standing there.

taehyung smiled at him, but he was met with dark eyes and a signature scowl that the boy thought he only used towards people he didn't like. "what's up namjoon." the ravenette said, "taehyung." that greeting was so bland.

the two older males started to talk as they walked back to some equipment taehyung didn't know the name of. he of course turned and left, walking to the front office and going to sit in the same rolling chair as usual. it squeaked when he sat and it rolled a few feet, hitting the desk with a loud sound. taehyung didn't hear it though, the blood was rushing in his ears and he crossed his arms over his chest — but that just reminded him of jungkook so he stopped.

"what's with the face." jungkook said first thing when he turned that corner and saw the boy sitting in front of the computer. it looked like he was trying to be angry, but it was just a bratty pout.

taehyung glared up at him, but the older remained unphased. it would take a lot more than a look to get under jungkooks skin. "nothing." the high schooler said.

a muscle in jungkooks jaw twitched as he clenched it. there were fresh bandaids on his knuckles and he was ready to tear them off and go at it again. "you know showing up and asking for a job was cute the first time." jungkook said.

"i wasn't trying to be cute." taehyung shot back.

"then what were you trying to do?" the ravenette rose an eyebrow, clearing amused with how the boy was trying to act as if he didn't know any better. taehyung was terrible at not being genuine, he wore everything on his sleeve and there was no bone in his body that could make him hide his intentions. "i was trying to see my boyfriend." he said.

"oh you and seojoon?" the sarcasm was dripping from jungkooks voice as he spoke, "i never would have guessed it since you two act like strangers."

that had the younger standing up, the hurt clear on his face and jungkook knew he must have hit something with what he said. "you don't have to be a dick. we've been together for almost a year and he doesnt have to show it all the time because i already know he loves me."

"loves you?" jungkook scoffed at that. it was hard to see someone so bright and smart be convinced of something so little understood. "you're a child taehyung, you don't know what love is." he said. jungkook wasn't even being sarcastic or sounding rude anymore, it was just a simple fact.

"why do you talk like you know everything? all you do is sit in here and punch things and act like an asshole." taehyung felt the pain in his chest, a squeezing around his heart that had his stomach twisting and lungs giving up — he's not even sure if it was because of what jungkook was saying or just the fact that he was acting upset with him. he didn't like it either way.

they bounced off like usual, meaningless words that hit his shirt and knocked against his chest and fell to the floor below him. jungkook didn't feel anything at the boys angry words, he was just a kid in denial. "i went to see you." he said.

taehyung felt that pain in his chest leave for a second at that.

"but maybe i shouldn't have." jungkooks scowl had returned, and he shook his head a bit, "i'll just stay here and punch some things and make you happy that way."

that was the end of it, because jungkooks back said so. he turned away so quick and left the boy standing alone at the front desk. it didn't seem as fun to be here anymore, and this was certainly not how taehyung planned to talk to the handsome ravenette.

nothing ever seemed to go as planned when it came to jeon jungkook.
