the purple tiger in his chemistry notes now adorned a red wig and matching lips, paired with some awful eyeshadow drawn on with a blue glitter pen. hoseok looked down at the drawing and smiled happily with his artistic skills. he held up his friend notebook to show him from across the lab table.
taehyungs jaw dropped open and his friend thought he was beyond impressed, until the younger snatched it back and narrowed his eyes. "hobi!" he whispered. "you're suppose to be helping me take notes since i left my glasses at home." he pouted wondering how many powerpoint slides they missed while the older was channeling his inner bob ross.
"oh come on i made him fabulous." hoseok opened his own notebook and saw how fresh and clean the pages were. it was practically brand new.
taehyung sighed and grabbed his own pen. he could probably see the board if he turned around and squinted, but a certain someone was also in this class and seeing the back of his head made the boy want to throw up. seojoon sat two lab tables closer to the front of the classroom, and he seemed totally fine.
it was the first thing taehyung noticed when he walked in, the way his now ex-boyfriend was just smiling and laughing with his lab partner. it was totally unfair.
hoseok noticed too, because he saw the way his friend walked by so fast without the usual dreamy look and ramble about how nice the guys shirt or hair looked today. he asked, but got no answer. he figured the boy would probably talk about it once the three friends were all together. taehyung probably only wanted to tell the story once anyways.
"do you want to come over after school?" taehyung asked him friend. the bell rang had finally rang for the day to end and they left their class, heading for the hall and the front of the school. hoseok nodded, "sure, i'll just call my mom." he said.
it would most likely be a yes, it usually always was. all his friends parents loved taehyung. they met up with jimin in the courtyard, he was already on board with going over to his best friends house. "we should stop at the market on the way." jimin said. he just got his allowance last night and was ready to waste it all in one trip.
"absolutely," taehyung said, he stood in the middle with both friends on either side of him, "i needed to pick things up too." he said.
the boys left the school yard and headed down the sidewalk, namjoon had already been told not pick his brother up today around lunch time. "what do you need to get tae?" hoseok asked once they walked into the supermarket, "i know jimin always gets snacks."
the shortest male just grinned, happy his friend knew him so well. he left and went down the food aisle first to fill the small basket he had hanging in the crook of his arm. the other two walked towards the cosmetics aisle instead, taehyung playing with his faded bangs. "i need a new color." he said. so much was changing right now, he felt like leaving the faded hair look in the past.
hoseok was grinning and looking at all the boxes lined up in front of them, pretty woman with flowing locks that looked so healthy and of course artificial. "how bold are we feeling?" the older one asked, holding up a neon yellow box and seeing the way taehyungs nose scrunched. "not that bold." he said, taking it away and putting it back on the shelf.
"oh are we getting pretty tonight?" jimin asked as he joined his friends in the cosmetics aisle, picking up a lipgloss tube. "that's not your color, here." hoseok said, switching the orange toned gloss for one more pink and shiny. jimin smiled and added it to his basket on top of the boxes and bags of food. "and tae wants to dye his hair."
jimins smile just grew some more and his eyes shone, "good idea! it's about time." he said.
taehyung nodded and continued to look at all the shades going across the shelves in an array of colors and neutrals. jimin was looking now also, since their other friend wouldn't stop picking all the obnoxious choices. he grabbed a box and held it up to his friend, a soft smile on his face, "i think this one." jimin said.
taehyung took it from him and tilted his head a bit, "will you help?" he asked.
"of course dummy." jimin laughed, it was light and short and soon they were checking out at the register and paying for their things.
the rest of the walk was nice and didn't take too long. taehyungs house wasn't far and the boys were soon walking through the corridor and being greeted with snacks and drinks prepared by mrs. kim who was aware of them coming. her son was good at texting her things in advance, she could only do little things like this for the boys who behaved well and always stayed polite.
taehyung thanked her of course and took the little tray of mini sandwiches while hoseok grabbed the lemonades. they ran up the stairs and burst into their friends bedroom, eager to simply do nothing and just spend time together like always.

namjoon was able to find a empt parking spot right outside jeon-kali fitness center, making it a lot easier to walk in and out without the stress of remembering how far down the block he left his car. he was a little early, since there was no need to pick up his brother, and even the owner of the gym noticed this.
"what's up namjoon." jungkook said when the male walked in, sunglasses and grin present as always. "hey jeon." he said, pulling out his membership card and swiping for the green light.
jungkook didn't want to seem too curious, or that he was trying to pry — but he couldn't help it, and it made his skin itch with awkwardness. "your shadow is missing." he tried to sound casual about it, but the tattooed male shifted from crossing his arms to shoving his hands deep into the front of his sweatpants pockets.
"oh tae?" namjoon said and adjusted his grip on the gym bag, "he went out after school or something."
he just hummed, teeth biting down on the inside of his bottom lip. it wasn't routine for him to be questioning where someone was, or trying to assume why someone did the things they did. jungkook normally didn't care. he'd move on and continue his life the way he usual did and ran his business the way he liked. but now he knew taehyung had started to come every day after school, but now he chose to be somewhere else. it didn't sit right in his chest.
jungkook just grunted something that resembled a response, and namjoon just shrugged and walked to the back.
it's fine, it doesn't matter. he tried to tell himself this.
it's not fine. you move too fast. jungkooks jaw clenched at the louder voices.
either way it didn't matter. taehyung had someone already, and jungkook didn't know how to keep himself from disrupting that. he only knew how to do the thing he was best at — and he didn't stop until his feet were stomping up those stairs and his knuckles were raw and ready to bleed the best distractions.
