saturday's were the nicest day of the week, kind of like a free day or a hall pass from chores and homework that were typically expected of them on week days. that's probably why they didn't sleep in that late, and the group of friends found themselves walking the city streets even before noon.
"but we always do waffles." jimin said, he had his head down looking through various food places on his phone. the three of them were starving and trying to find something for breakfast, but agreeing on something was next to impossible for them. while jimin kept on not looking where he was going, hoseok had his hands on the boys back to guide him away from other people passing on the sidewalk. "yeah," hoseok said, "because waffles are the superior battered breakfast."
"but crepes." taehyung said, "they have cute jams in the middle."
"put jam on your waffle." hoseok said, and he pushed jimin to the side to sit at a small table outside a breakfast cafe. they've been here before, a quieter corner in the city where even a produce market was across the street. there were carts and stations of farmers produce and fresh picked vegetables and fruit for people to buy on the weekends. it was a little more pricey but definitely better tasting. "i don't want to put my own jam on my waffle, i want it done for me." taehyung pouted.
his hyung rolled his eyes, "i'll put my jam on your waffle."
taehyung looked over at him and rose an eyebrow. "you keep your jam to yourself. i will have none of it."
"he wants jeons jams." jimin wiggled his eyebrows and was prepared to dodge the smack coming his way, even the kick from under the table. his best friend glared at him but the silver haired boy just giggled.
the oldest of the three felt significantly left out, but he didn't get to express that since the waitress showed up to take their order.
they got waffles.
"i want to see this guy tae has a crush on." hoseok said once they were relatively alone again, minus the people passing on the street or also sitting nearby at the few tables outside. "i don't have a crush oh my god." taehyung even stomped this time to try and get his point across to his stubborn friends.
jimin might have egged it on a little longer, teased his friend a bit more, but then he saw him — that same dark figure form the gym was standing right there. "shit he's right there."
"where!" taehyung said it a lot quicker than he meant to, holding up the menu to hide behind despite not even knowing where the tattooed man was. hoseok rose an eyebrow, and the pink haired boy just flipped him off. jimin ignored them, "look." he nodded across the street towards the farmers market.
the ravenette was wearing long basketball shorts and a simple t-shirt, both baggy and covering that well toned body. he was picking tomatoes, feeling for the good ones and moving on to some other fruits. hoseok rose an eyebrow, and he quickly looked over to his friend that kept denying everything, "are you kidding me? you're not going to jump on that?"
"i have a boyfriend." taehyung said, thinking he was stating the obvious.
the other two just nodded, but none of them looked away just yet, not from the way the mans arms flexed just by picking up a frickin orange. they only looked away when jungkook happened to sense it, the multiple pairs of eyes burning holes into the side of his head. he flicked his bangs to the side and saw the group across the street, and their lame attempt at scrambling to hide behind the beverages menu. it's not like it's that easy to hide a blob of pink hair against a cafe and city made of neutrals.
"do you think he saw us?" jimin whispered from behind the menu, they were so close he could smell the mint on one of his friends breath. both of them looked at the shortest male with blank expressions, "of course he did you idiot." they said at the same time.
the waitress came by with their plates, and she tried not to make a weird face at the odd boys all huddled together. "enjoy?" she kind of said it like a question, but she left them to their morning meals to help others.
"thanks!" hoseok broke the awkward silence and sat up now, his attention away from the man across the street and now simply on the food in front of him. taehyung still felt weird, and he really couldn't bring himself to look up from the jar are jam sitting in front of him — and he couldn't ignore the odd feeling in his stomach thinking that jungkook might have been staring at him right now.

the knock on his door was unexpected, but namjoon abandoned his books to go answer it. his little brother stood there with a big smile and a cupcake in his hands. "hi hyung." he said.
"what is this?" namjoon asked, pointing at the cupcake that even had extra sprinkles on top. the store definitely didn't add that many because the big brother liked to think of himself as a sprinkle connoisseur. taehyung wanted something and he was literally asking for it with extra sprinkles on top.
"am i not allowed to just bring my brother a cupcake." taehyung said.
he was still skeptical but namjoon let the boy in his room anyways, also taking the cupcake and returning to his desk. namjoon has graduated a few years ago, now working at the market in the meat department where he helped butcher and package products. technically his parents were rich and he didn't need a job, but with lots of free time it was nice to have something to do for a little bit of cash he earned on his own.
taehyung sat on his brothers bed and watched him peel back the paper cup with too much interest. his hyung could tell something was up, but he couldn't figure it out. "bro what do you want?" he finally asked, swallowing about half the cupcake in one bite.
"i'm offended."
"i'm weirded out stop staring at me." namjoon wiped his mouth and looked back to the textbooks. he decided to take a few classes as well. he seemed to like keeping busy.
taehyung didn't say anything else until he saw his brother was done with the sweet snack, and then he kicked he back of his chair with a big grin. "hey joon," he said, that smile clear in his voice and namjoon knew it before he even turned around. "wanna go to the gym since you ate a cupcake?"
he was evil for even putting that thought in his brothers head, knowing very well that the thought of what he had just eaten would affect his usual routine when it came to health and wellness. namjoon glared at his brother. "i hate you." he said it.
"i call shotgun!"
