it was extremely difficult to keep my excitement to a minimum. my legs kept shaking and so did my hands. beating a hundred miles a minute, my heart felt like it would explode. i couldn't keep my feelings in.
"someone is a little excited." my mom pointed out as i sat by the door of our home.
"mom, voldemort isn't just a little noseless. he doesn't have a nose." i stated as i looked out the window.
"that doesn't make any sense." mom laughed as she sat next to me on the bench. she grabbed my hands so they would stop shaking.
"i'm not a little excited. i'm extremely excited, and nervous. is it hot in here?" i fanned myself with my shirt as my legs continued to shake like a hairless cat in winter.
"sweetie, i've met lucas before, he's so sweet. you have nothing to worry about." mom hugged me with her left arm and i leaned against her shoulder.
"i know, but i'm still nervous. what if he realizes i'm completely crazy and doesn't want to be with me anymore?"
"then he'd be an idiot because you are a hilarious girl who's absolutely brilliant and gorgeous." mom said kissing the side of my head.
"what about my fruit puns?" i perked an eyebrow.
"the best thing about you my lovely." she stood up with a bright smile. "go get 'em tiger."
"and you say i'm the weird one." i laughed as she began to dance back into the living room.
"i love you." she yelled to me from the other room.
"i love you too." i laughed.
"who do we love?" i heard someone yell from the other side of the door. being me i was about to scream with excitement.
i opened the door, my heart tightening in my chest, in a good way. "you know normal people knock."
lucas was standing in the door way with a smile. his hazel eyes bright and filled with warmth as he looked down at the flowers in his hand and then back up to me.
"and you're normal?" he asked while stepping into my home.
"touché." i laughed. "flowers?"
"chrysanthemum, for your mom because i remember you talking about how they're her favourite because it sounds like chris-and-the-mum." lucas said with a small laugh.
"she has an unhealthy obsession with chris'." i grabbed the flowers from him as he closed the door. together we walked towards the kitchen. "chris pine, chris hemsworth, chris pratt, chris evans, chris colfer, chris rock, she even married a chris, so you get the point."
"your family is great." lucas said as i grabbed a stool and dragged it towards the cabinets.
"we're weird." i state mater-of-factly. i put the stool down and climb onto it.
"what are you doing?" lucas asked as he moved to stand behind me.
"getting a vase for the flowers you got my mom," i grabbed the clear container that's too fancy for my lifestyle. "what are you doing?"
"making sure you don't fall." he smiled.
"that's sweet of you, but i've been doing this since i was a small child. if you haven't noticed i'm short. i've always been short and i always will be short."
"come on, its adorable." lucas laughed as he held his hand out for me to take just in case.
"you try being five feet tall." i grabbed his hand and felt warmth spread though my fingers. "stupid five foot nine child." i jumped onto the floor and stuck my tongue out at him. he did the same.
"real mature." he said.
"real mature." i mimicked.
"are you copying me?"
"are you copying me?" i asked as i filled the vase with water.
"stop it."
"stop it."
"you five year old child."
"you five year old child." he was smiling like an idiot, it was beautiful. he was beautiful. great now i'm smiling like an idiot.
"i am not an orange."
"i am an orange and i am proud!" i declared after turning the tap off.
"ha! i got you." lucas smiled grabbing the flowers and putting them in the vase.
"it's only because i've accepted the fact that i'm not human." i said patting his cheek in a playful manner. both of our large smiles reduced to small grins which still held joy and love in them.
"you're a weirdo." he reminded me and took the flowers out of my hand.
"and you choose to like me." i repainted as he walked away and put the vase on the counter.
"perfect." he smiled proudly, he wasn't looking at the flowers.
"you did good kid, moms gonna love them." i said leaning against the counter.
"i wasn't talking about the flowers, clementine." he smiled again, for the millionth time. it's like he won't stop smiling around me.
"you smooth piece of shit don't go all mushy lovey on me now." i said as we walked back over to me so we stood facing each other.
"why?" he crossed his arms. a playful smirk on his face. "i just wanted to remind you that you're perfect."
"lucas zumann, you are hilarious." i laughed putting my hands on his shoulders and patting them jokingly. "you should really be a comedian."
"but there's one problem." he said, gingerly putting his hands on my waist.
"what's that?" i asked, doing my best not to stutter.
in that moment my heart stopped and my stomach dropped to my feet.
the next few seconds were all a blur, all i knew was that he kissed me. it was brief but i felt like i was walking on air.
"i don't joke about you." he said after he pulled away. i became a smiling mess and felt like i could melt right now.
"you know how people always say you feel a spark when you kiss someone?" i asked, he nodded. "i didn't feel a spark." his face dropped, sadness in his eyes. "i felt an explosion."
with my words he smiled again, wider and brighter than before. if that was even possible.
"as did i." he smiled again and i moved closer to him, wrapping. my arms around his torso, hugging him tightly. he did the same and rested his cheek on my head. "i like that you're short."
"shut up."
so... how do you all feel about this? btw i was listening to what about us by pink while writing this, it literally came on right before they kissed and i screamed. but i hope you all like this and there is more lucas and clementine to come. i'm also implementing parts into the story so we're coming close to the end of part one. YEET. i'm cringing. i'll go home now
