Ava navigates the school hallways after the last bell rang.

Summer now has begun and all Ava can't wait for is to go to the library.

She narrowly misses a flying elbow from a bully. Then a pile of books stacked on the floor.

She finally exits the school and feels the warm, humid air hit her face.

Now it was time for her to enjoy a nice quiet summer at the lib-

"Hey, nerd!" A voice calls out, probably at her. She looks around and points to herself.

"Me?"

"Duh, bitch do you see anyone else out here?" She could see who had said it. A girl one year older than her, a sophomore.

Rebecca.

"What do you want, Becca?" Ava says reluctantly.

"What else would I want? I want your money," Becca smirks and extends her hand.

Ava shoves her hand in her pocket and sadly gives her all the money she has.

"There, you happy now?" Ava grumbles.

"Scram before I beat your poor little fat ass," Becca sneers.

Ava heaves a sigh and walks away with her head down.

The only person watching the event unfold was a boy she liked. The most popular one...

Jay Grazer. The funniest, hottest, cutest, etcetera etcetera, in sophomore year. . .

Ava had to admit, he was charming, and she sadly fell for him.

What she didn't know was that he was an outcast.

Ava, too busy staring at Jay, accidentally bumps into a boy she didn't know.

"Oh my jeezums, I'm so sorry!" She turns to face the boy.

"It's okay. . ." The boy looks down with a slight blush. His glasses too big for his face slide down his nose.

"I'm Ava," She holds out her hand.

"Zander," He looks at her and smiles slightly. "I already knew who you were new girl," then he smirks.

Ava blushes and internally face palms.

"Yep. . That me. . ." She chuckles nervously. Maybe this is why she had no friends, she thinks to herself.

"Where are you heading on this lovely summer day?" Zander says lightly.

"Um- I was thinking about going to the library," Ava stutters.

"Okay I'll go with you," Zander starts walking. "Don't fall behind new girl!" He yells back at the gaping Ava.

Ava was always worried about her reputation. So hanging out with a guy like this obviously would hit on that.

First of all, she had no idea who he was, and secondly she knew he was a loser.

Ava smiles and walks after Zander. For once not caring what everyone thought.
