"Can you believe they're getting married? I still can't. You know what else I can't believe? The fact that you and I have to do all the work. I thought this was gonna be a fun job. I thought all we had to do was pass 'em the rings. But no, here we are picking flowers and—"

"Calm down, this is an honor. I'm glad I was chosen to do this and you should be too."

"I'm not saying I'm not. All I'm saying is I would've liked a heads-up about what accepting this job entails."

"Shut up, Baz. And you... why are you even here? You don't have to be. I was the one chosen to do this stuff, so you don't have to be involved at all."

"Yeah, I know," Sebastian said, giving me a wide grin. "I just wanted to bother you."

I rolled my eyes but couldn't help grinning back. He was the one who had shown up at my door that morning and made me hurry through getting ready for a day of shopping for our friends' wedding. "You are such a child. Now stop complaining and make yourself useful. Should we go with white, red, or both?"

"Um, neither."

I stared at him and waited for him to give an explanation, but he didn't. All he did was stare back.

"Well? Why?"

"Oh, you wanted the full analysis. I mean they're both good colors, it's just that... white is so overused in weddings and red doesn't even mean anything anymore."

"White is traditional and of course red still has meaning. I see your point, though. Well, the reception theme hasn't even been chosen, so what do you suggest?"

He put his hands behind his back and looked around the shop for a moment before pointing toward a display.

"Purple?"

"Yeah, why not? If we get dark blue to go with it it'll be like a midnight theme or whatever... Romantic, isn't it?"

"That's actually kind of a good idea. How'd you even come up with it? You don't have a romantic bone in your body."

"First of all, ouch. Second, I have an eye for fabulousness, okay?"

"Alright then, Mr. Fab. Find some more colors you think would be good so we have a variety of choices."

He accepted the task and set to work inspecting the shop and what it had to offer. Having the eye he did, he did manage to find some other nice combinations, but in the end we went with the purple and dark blue. The reception was going to be held in a darkened room anyway, not to mention the fact that it would all take place in the evening.

"Now what?" Sebastian asked when we were back on the street. "Let me guess: we have to get streamers."

"Yes." I deadpanned.

He turned to me and blinked several times. "Please tell me you're joking."

"Of course I am." He let out a laugh tinged with relief before I continued. "We have to get goody bags."

"I swear—"

"Just kidding," I laughed, "you should see your face. Seriously, we have to get the centerpieces for the tables. That's... uptown. Come on."

That took a little longer than choosing flowers had, but with Baz's help it wasn't too bad. We kept up the midnight theme and picked designs with crescent moons and little stars. Once that was done, we moved on to tablecloth sets, and that was a breeze.

"Well, what next?" Sebastian was quick to ask as soon as we exited the last store.

"That's it," I said after a second. "We're done for the day."

"We are?" He looked around as if unsure what to do with himself. "Are you sure?"

"Yeah, I'm sure, Baz. Now you can go home and relax and forget about the wedding for a bit."

"But are you really sure? Isn't there something else we have to do?"

"Nope. That's it."

"Okay, uh, are ya hungry? We could go get somethin' to eat..."

"If that's what you were trying to ask..." I laughed a little. "Sure, why not? Come on."

He gave me a childish little grin and nodded, suggesting that I lead the way.

The wedding day went by perfectly smoothly. I fulfilled all my duties and made sure absolutely nothing went wrong. I made sure the bride had nothing at all to worry about (though it was tiring, I'll admit, though I'd never tell her that).

I walked down the aisle with my arm in Sebastian's. He whispered a joke to me and I had to strain to hold in my laugh. He patted my arm before we went to stand on either side of the altar, smiling a little nervously as we parted ways. During the actual ceremony, he leaned out a little and waved at me. That was probably my favorite part of the whole thing.

When that was over, they loaded us up into limos headed to where the reception would be held. Sebastian found his way over to me and sat next to me in our car, still making jokes and randomly bursting into fits of singing.

We made it to the reception and through the toasts and all with no trouble. I said a whole bunch of sappy stuff during my toast and Baz gave a cute speech during his. Then it was bye formality and hello long night of partying.

It was a good beginning, but of course we'd have to wait until it was later and everyone was up for anything to get to the really good part. Meanwhile, I was keeping myself entertained by spending some time with the guests. After a while of... getting bored, I sat down at a table to... get bored some more.

"Oh, hey," someone said, and I looked up to see Baz. He was holding a hand out. "Wanna dance with me?"

I beamed and nodded eagerly, standing up and putting my hand in his. He led me to the dance floor and pulled me in close. Baz was a surprisingly good dancer-- he had a firm hold on my hand and his steps were long and graceful, not small and awkward.

"So they actually got married," Baz said.

I laughed at his expression. "Are you still in shock?"

"Nah, we all knew it was gonna happen. I just can't believe it all happened so fast."

"Yeah, me neither," I agreed. I kind of wished it hadn't; I'd had so much fun helping plan everything. I'd especially enjoyed spending time with Sebastian. We'd really only been acquaintances before the wedding; his best friend had married my best friend, and that was what had brought us closer.

"I think we're gonna have a lot of free time after all of this. Remember how we spent an entire day trying to build the menu?"

"Yeah, that was a long process," I said, laughing as I remembered how frustrating it had been. It had felt like we'd never agree on something because literally everyone on the planning committee wanted something different.

Baz nodded, one side of his mouth curling up as he looked into my eyes. I couldn't help but return the silly grin, though I didn't really realize I was doing it at first.

"I had a lot of fun planning stuff with you," he said, his lighthearted tone dropping to a more serious one. "You're a really cool person."

"Yeah, you too. I'm glad it's you who's the best friend of the guy my best friend married."

"That's one way of putting it," he laughed. "Well, I'm glad it's you who's the best friend of the girl my best friend married."

"You can't copy me, that's cheating."

"I didn't copy you. I changed 'guy' to 'girl' so it wasn't the same sentence."

"Every other word was the same."

"I-- leave me alone," he laughed. I raised my eyebrows and started to pull away from him, but he tightened his grip on my hand and pulled me in even closer than before.

"I hope we can still spend time together even though the wedding's pretty much over."

"Of course we're going to. Did you think that was going to be it?"

"Well, I was sure hoping it wouldn't be," he laughed. "And good, I'm glad."

I nodded in agreement. We danced for a long time, making it through all the slow dances and the fast party dances. Eventually, the bride found us.

"Hey!" She shouted. "Are you having a good time?"

"Of course," I replied, laughing at how obviously drunk she was. She stared at me for a moment before seeming to just notice Sebastian.

"Aw, you guys look so cute dancing together..." She turned and grabbed a few of the flowers in a nearby vase, then turned back and threw them at us. "Like catching the bouquet."

"I did catch it," I reminded her.

"Oh. Right. Well then, there you go." She tapped her foot twice. Sebastian and I exchanged a look as her new husband came to get her.

"I didn't know you'd caught the flowers," Baz said.

"Yeah, they're around here somewhere. I don't even know how I caught them, I couldn't really see much from where I was standing."

Sebastian laughed. "Well, nice catch. Wonder what'll happen next."

"Yeah, me too."
