Chapter 9

The person in the picture above is Jacob

The next day came, Max seemed like nothing at all happened yesterday. No one was surprised to see Max beat up, no one even bothered to turn their heads as he walked by because it was a normal thing for Max to look beat up. He walked down the morning hall with his shoulders hunched, his hands in his pockets and his eyes on the ground.

While walking to his locker, he bumped into a couple of people who meant to push him. "Don't fucking touch me" he spat, instantly raising his head to see who had shoved him.

The person raised his hands in the air like he was defending himself and a wide smile was on his face. "Sorry anger management, didn't mean to graze you." The boy says, looking back at the group of boys behind him and they all started laughing.

People usually did this to Max, people who weren't in his class, or his grade for that matter and didn't know how Max really acted would try picking fights with him, trying to see what he was really all about. You could even see the boy's clique already pulling out their phones to record.

"Yeah, my ass that's what you meant." Max says, instantly leaning forward and head butting the boy in the face, making him stumble backward and hit a wall, sliding down as his butt hit the floor. His clique put their phones away, shocked that Max was so fast and tough.

Max instantly walked up the the boy, kicking him in the side of the stomach as he asks "so what, did you want to go viral with a video of us fighting, huh?" Max questions, snarling at the other on the ground.

The boy couldn't say anything, he was way too out of it to even speak. The head-butt Max gave him would most likely leave a bad bruise and horrible swelling.

Max was getting impatient with the boy not responding and now grabbed the boy by his hair, forcing him to stand up. "I SAID SPEAK!" He shouts, glaring into the boys eyes as he shouted at him.

"I-I-I'm sorry, I won't do it again" the boy says, sounding scared and desperate for Max to let him go. By now a whole group of people were crowding around the two of them in a circle, watching everything go down. Some people in the crowd even had their phones out recording.

At the same time Ryan was peeking over the crowd, trying to see what was going on. All the commotion outside was disturbing their morning prayers in a classroom close by. He told the others he would take control of the noise going on, but it looked like it was even out of his hands. As he finally got a decent view on what was going on, he was surprised and shocked to see it was Max, holding another student by his hair, forcing him to stand up. You could already visibly see Max had done some damage onto this student.

Ryan squirmed his way past a couple of the students, trying to get to the whole scene. Once he was in the big circle, he ran towards Max, pushing him away from the other student. "Max, what're you doing?!" He asks, looking at Max seriously.

At the same time a low voice could be heard from down the hall, sounding like the principal. "What is going on here?" He asks in a serious tone.

Once everyone heard the principal was there, they all scattered like flies. The only people left at the scene was the boy who was now on the ground because Max had finally let him go, Max who was a few feet away from him and Ryan who was trying to hold Max back.

The principal sighed seeing the situation and says "Max, please come to my office." Max let out a loud groan, shaking Ryan's grip off of him before walking past the principal to get to the office first. The principal then looked at Ryan and asks "Ryan, you come too please."

"O-Oh, but sir I wasn't a part of the fight, I-I was just trying to stop it" Ryan reassures, looking at the principal a bit scared.

"I know, just come with me to my office." The principal says, turning around as he started walking towards the office.

Once all three were at the office, Max and Ryan were sitting on chairs in front of the principals desk, while the principal was sitting behind his desk, in his leather chair. "Max, how many times has this happened?" He asks in a sigh, looking at Max with an expression like he was done with him.

"I didn't mean to punch him...I...just wasn't thinking, I swear." Max says, sounding slightly sorry.

"We're midway through the school year and this is the thirteenth time something like this has happened. Don't you think that's saying something?"

"No, it's not saying anything. Can I just say I'm sorry to that dude and leave it at that?"

"Well what did he do to provoke you to hit him?" He principal asks, now he pulled out something from his desk and placed it in front of him, bringing his pen down to the paper as he wrote something down.

"They shoved me" Max answers and Ryan let out a sigh before looking down.

"They...shoved you and that's why you bashed their head?" The principal repeats in a monotone voice, looking at Max with one eyebrow raised.

"Yes" Max replies, sounding stern.

The principal let out a big breath of air, continuing to finish writing down whatever it was before folding the paper in half and handing it to Max. "Here Max, give this to your parents and have them sign it."

Max leaned forward, grabbing the paper from the principals hands and opening it to see it was a letter for Max to go see a psychiatrist. "WHAT THE HELL IS THIS?" Max shouts, looking up at the principal with anger filling his eyes.

"Max...obviously you have some anger issues that you have not controlled yet. Every student in the hallway isn't your personal punching bag for you to take your anger out on. I think talking to someone would really help you." The principal reassures, looking at Max seriously.

"That's bogus, I'm not some crazy person!" Max says, standing up from his seat and ripping the paper in half, in front of the principal before throwing it onto the ground. "You can't force me to go to one of those stupid places!" He demands, turning around and storming out of the principals office, slamming the door behind him as he left.

Ryan looked back and slightly jumped when Max slammed the door. He then looked back at the principal and questions "so what did you want me for...sir?" Ryan questions, sounding hesitant to talk to the principal after Max's sudden outbreak.

The principal let out yet another sigh before saying "yes, Ryan I wanted you to...I don't know how to say this without seeming to burden you. You don't have to agree with this, but if you don't mind, would you keep an eye on Max?"

"Keep an eye on Max?" Ryan repeats in a tone like he didn't fully understand what the principal was tying to say.

"Yes, I want you to just watch over him in case something like this morning ever happens again. From what I saw, you have pretty good control over him. He doesn't let anyone touch him without them ending up getting punched in the face. Are you two friends?" The principal asks, looking at Ryan concerned.

"I don't know if I would say 'friends.' I want to be friends with Max, but he doesn't want to be friends with me. He's always pushing me away." Ryan explains, folding his hands in his lap as he started twiddling his thumbs.

"Oh yes, Max has been like that ever since he was a little kid. He's always had this fighting spirit inside of him, pushing everyone who tries coming close to him away. I don't think that kid has ever had a single friend before in his life. I don't understand why he likes doing things all by himself, I don't understand why he pushes everyone who cares about him away." The principal explains in a sigh, looking really upset for Max.

"Since he was little....sir, did you know Max when he was younger?"

"Yes, actually I use to live down the road from him. I was his old principal at his elementary school for a couple years before I got transferred here as a high school principal. I was surprised Max and I have crossed paths again. Yet of course I've moved from that neighbourhood, but even when that kid was younger he was always in the office for hurting some kid on the playground." The principal explains in a slight chuckle, rubbing the back of his neck with one hand.

"Wait, if you know Max from childhood then you should obviously know about Max's parents?! Sir, you do know how Max's parents treat him, right?" Ryan asks, his voice now raising as he looked at the principal with wide eyes.

"Of course I know about Max's family situation, it breaks my heart to see him come to school like the way he is. I know he doesn't get those bruises just from anywhere."

"Th-then you must have contacted someone, or at least anyone?! The police, social services, anyone to warn them what Max's parents are doing to him?" Ryan asks but it looked like the principal's face sunk when Ryan asked.

"I...can't talk about this, Ryan."

"So you haven't....why...why not?! You see how much they hurt him, why aren't you doing anything for your students!?" Ryan questions, now getting angry. This was the first time in his whole life, Ryan ever felt...angry.

"I can't Ryan, it's not my place to say why or even explain to you. Now please leave my office." The principal demands, looking at Ryan seriously.

Ryan couldn't believe his ears, he didn't want to believe his ears. "I can't believe what I'm hearing" Ryan says aloud to himself before standing up and leaving the principals office, closing the door behind him.

Once Ryan left the room, the principal let out a loud sigh, leaning back in his leather chair as he looked up at the ceiling. "Thank God that kid finally has someone who cares for him..." he faintly says to himself.

Meanwhile first period had already started and everyone was in class, that is except for Jacob. Like yesterday he was sitting down underneath the stairwell with his laptop, playing computer games.

"Who do we have here, skipping class again, Mr.Noh?" Todd asks in a chuckle, looking at Jacob as he walked down the stairs.

Jacob's head shot up when he heard Todd talk and let out a deep breath. "I thought you were a teacher, why're you calling me by my last name?" Jacob questions slightly annoyed before looking back down at his computer screen and trying to beat the level he was trying to complete.

"Thought it was funny" Todd answers, getting to the bottom of the stairs as he sat down beside Jacob on the ground, spreading his legs out in front of him. "So you're skipping first period again, two days in a row now, huh? What, are you trying to get away from your geek image and trying to roll with the rebels? Cause no offence but I can't picture you being anyone like Max...he's part of the rebels...right?" Todd asks, looking up to think about it for a bit, before giving up and looking at Jacob.

"I'm not trying to rebel or anything, I just didn't want to go to English."

"Oh, so it's English you're skipping out on. What teacher do you have? Is it Mrs.Chuen?"

Jacob turned his head to Todd a little too fast, it was almost automatic. "Yeah, how did you know?!" He asks, looking at Todd a little suspicious that he knew what teacher he had.

"Well I had her for English last year and she was a pain in the ass. I get why you don't want to go to class. So instead of going to class you're here playing your computer games?" Todd asks, leaning in closer to Jacob, now their shoulders were touching.

Jacob noticed how close Todd was getting to him, but didn't bother moving. He cleared his throat before saying "u-um yeah, it's way more interesting then writing a stupid essay...hey, what about you? You're never in first period when I'm skipping."

"Free period" Todd answers in a smirk which just made Jacob roll his eyes and look back at his computer screen as he pressed a couple more buttons on his keyboard. "Hey...want to ditch?" Todd asks, looking at Jacob in a smile.

Jacob paused his game now and looked at Todd seriously but a bit intimated as he stuttered "d-ditch?"

"Yeah...we could leave school and go to that cafe place around the corner? Don't worry we can come back around lunch time just so that we can be at school for the end of the day. Or what, have you never ditched school before, are you scared?" Todd asks in the same smirk, he could hint that Jacob was intimidated about leaving school.

"A-ah, no I'm not scared, of course I'm not scared. Okay, fine let's 'ditch' school." Jacob says in slight confidence, he stood up as he closed his laptop and put it inside his backpack.

"Great, come on it'll be fun." Todd says in a smile, ruffling Jacob's hair as he headed towards the closest exit to leave the school.

Meanwhile with Kevin he wasn't even at school yet, he was still sound asleep in his big, king-sized bed. "Um, sir...it's time to wake up to go to school. You've already missed first period." One of the maids say in a quiet voice. She knocked on Kevin's bedroom door a couple times gently before even saying anything.

Kevin let out a light groan, slowly rising from his bed as he rubbed his eyes with one hand and looked at the maid who was standing at his door. "What're you doing just standing there, get me something to eat I'm starving." Kevin orders, standing up from his bed.

"O-Of course, coming right up sir." The maid exlciams, scurrying out of the room to get Kevin his breakfast.

Kevin walked to his huge walk in closet. It was kind of like Hannah Montana's secrete closet. It was like three people could just live in his closet alone. He walked to where his clothing was and decided to pick out an outfit. Kevin only wore the best, brand named things.

Right when Kevin managed to pick out an outfit he thought suited the day, he heard the door to his bedroom open. When he poked his head out of his closet doors, he saw the maid putting the tray of food down on the mini coffee table inside his room. "Thank you" he calls out before heading back into his closet. The maid didn't answer him, but all that was heard was the door click meaning she had walked out.

Once changing, he walked out to see the breakfast was eggs, bacon, some pancakes and fruit. "No coffee, what a waste of a good service." Kevin rolls his eyes, eating a single bacon strip before deciding that's as much as he wanted to eat and headed to the washroom to clean himself up before heading out.

Kevin stared at himself in the mirror once finishing everything and just looked at himself. "I...I hate-" Kevin's train of thoughts were interrupted by someone knocking on the bathroom door. "Sir, is it okay if I take the food back downstairs, are you done?" The same maid from before questions.

"Yes, go ahead" Kevin replies, slightly startled by the maid's sudden knock and put one hand on his chest to calm himself down.

As Kevin left the washroom, he walked downstairs where his chauffeur was already waiting to take him to school. Kevin couldn't help but sigh, walking out of his house, past the chauffeur to get to the car.

~~~~~~~~~
Hey guys, I added a bit of Kevin in there because he wasn't in the last chapter, and I added a bit of his home life as well. I added some more Max because you guys said you want to see more of him and Ryan as well. I was wondering, for the next chapter do you want me to continue it from where Jacob and Todd are in the cafe, or do you want me to go straight to after school, where Ethan, Lucas and Carter have their whole scene. You guys can choose because I'm fine with doing anything. Who's your favourite character so far and who do you want to see more of? I'll try adding them in more. (BTW there's backstory between the principal and Max in some way, just pointing that out if you couldn't tell.)
