Chapter 24: I Promise You
So sorry for the late updates, guys....been super busy lately... :) ILYSM.
On with the story!
*Edited*
I wake up on Sunday morning, slightly tired. My mind is whirling with all the things that I have to do and so my fingers reach for the dare list that rests on my bedside table. Almost instantly my eyes draw themselves to one of the dares: Do something unusual and kind of dangerous (safely) I'd talk to Logan already and knew the place that we were to be doing it at so I dress myself in a beige and black long sleeved shirt and some black skinny jeans and sneakers, thing my hair up into a simple pony tail so it would be easier to do adventurous things. I reach for my phone and text Davie to meet at my house and text Max to come with as well. We were going to jump off a bridge!
I walked to the window and picked up the small wooden plank thing that Logan made, pulled up my window and placed it on his open window ledge. I step on cautiously, but since the thing has railings I move across quickly on my knees, scared that I was going to fall and gripping onto the rails with all my strength. I reach the window and slowly duck in. My feet land on his dark wooden floors and I see that he is nowhere in sight. His room is a surprise to me. Of course, it isn't neat. There are some clothes strewn in a corner messily and a black coat draped over his study chair, a bunch of books are stacked in piles on the floor. There's a couple of model cars and motorcycles on a shelf next to the window and leather bean bags before the windows facing out. His bed looks comfy. All warm blankets and rumpled white pillows. I go over and sit uncomfortably in the desk chair, feeling the rough fabric of the coat against my back. I spot To Kill a Mockingbird on his desk. Without thinking I pick it up and start reading instantly. I am so lost in the book that I don't even hear the door opening and Logan coming in. He has a towel hung around his waist and he is not clothed from the top up. I gasp and give a tiny shriek. He just stands there, his brow furrowed, quite adorably (might I add) but then he strides into the room and smirks.
"Why are you here?" He walks around, gathering up his jeans and shirt, his back muscles contracting. I sigh, wistfully and shake all thoughts out of my head.
"I just- Um...Was going to wait for you to finish so we can go together." I say and return the book back to it's place on his desk.
"Okay." He responds, shrugging. I watch him disappear out of the room and come back, fully clothed. He is wearing a white shirt and jeans, a beige jacket in his hands.
"I wanted to talk to you about what happened the day before." He says, his hands are tucked into his pockets and he sits down on the bed, gesturing for me to come sit with him. I go over and sit down, feeling his arm brushing against mines. I move away out of instinct and he winces.
"I am sorry for what happened. I just- I understand if you don't want to be associated with me." He gets up, picks up the copy of To Kill a Mockingbird and places it among other books. His fingers slide along the spine of The Great Gatsby. I sigh.
"You're someone who will break girl's hearts. It's expected. And of course you'll say that it's not true, but you have to prove it to me. You don't know how many times liking someone, or even loving someone has broken me. I hate love or like because it's so uncertain and my life is supposed to be based on certainty" I stand up. He draws his eyes away from the window and faces me.
"I do like you, I want you to be somewhere in my life, somewhere in my heart. It's a strong feeling, not like, not love just a strong, defined feeling. I'm sure I can prove it to you. Just give me a chance, Nutcracker..." He trails off, his head bent.
"You said once that you thought that first kisses hold something in our hearts. You gave me mine because you believed that in the end it won't hurt us. I'm sure it will."
"Just give me chance. I'll prove to you that I'm worth your time, Princess. I would do anything." My eyes scan his serious face.
"Then prove it." I go to him, my resolve slowly breaking and he finally allows himself to draw me closer. At first I thought that he would kiss me but instead he hugs me tightly and then holds me at arm's length. I allow a smile to shine through and then his lips crash onto mines. We stay that way for a few moments before he pulls away and starts hugging me. I sigh blissfully.
"Show me that you're worth it." I whisper into his ear and I can feel him nodding his head.

We finally manage to get out of the house and I climb into his car. He has interlaced his fingers with mine and I was holding on tight.
"I'll prove it to you, I promise." He says yet again. He had been repeating the phrase ever since our conversation and now it was slightly comedic
"We just got to pick up Max and Davie. I'll tell them to text their home addresses to me and we can pick them up. "
"Sure."
I release my hand from his and pick up my phone, quickly texting both of them and telling Logan to stop for a moment. He does and we wait for their responses.
We pull up outside Davie's house and gesture for him to come in.
"What are we doing today?" He gets in the backseat and fastens up his seatbelt.
"Jumping off a bridge." I grin evilly at him, glancing at his shocked face before turning to grin at Logan who in turn kisses me on the forehead.
